Wouldn't it just be more simple to remove the star system and just go by %?
There is a difference between 50% 2 star and 99% 2 star ... more destruction in the latter case, which can decide a close war.

You really don't see a difference? So if you're in war, and you pull a 3 star 90% war attack in a 5 star system (assume TH missed, as well as 100% destruction), you'd say that is no different from a 1 star 90% war attack in a 3 star system (assume TH missed... obviously... as well as 100% destruction)?
60% efficiency vs 33% efficiency is an improvement in my book.
There is a difference between a low 2 star and a high 2 star and Affront has pointed it out. It has bearing on this thread especially if the point of view is from the 5 stars would not be better side.
A fair point Monoxide (and Affront), technically my original language did specify 'no difference'. Thanks for pointing this out, I have altered original language to better reflect issue.
However, 5 stars would still improve on many issues as has been discussed briefly above
I'm completely on board with this, I have been for ages. People keep making these long and complicated ideas about multiple star systems, but at the end of the day it really isn't necessary imo. Keep it purely on % of destruction. Sure, the TH would be nothing more than a HP buffer, but you will actually see original base designs again, not just 95% ring and moat designs.
Why stop at 5 let's have 7 star system and bypass the next few years of 5 stars system doesn't work, should be a 7 star system!
Increasing the number of stars available will not resolve many issues. It may swing the results in a few instances but it really it will go both ways, so where is the improvement ?
Counting percentage only will dramatically change base designs and make higher percentage attacks even more difficult. If I don't need to protect a high hp 4x4 then I can defend the little stuff even better.
It would also undermine SC's stance on the importance of th in multiplayer.
There are a number of games that use seemingingly disparate scoring systems. Have you ever considered the scoring anomolies that exist in tennis, most non-round ball sports or ten-pin bowling ?

Let's assume that we have a 5 star system, so 25%, 50%, 75% 100% and TH each give a star?
Damage % or total number of building hit points destroyed would be the most fine grained way to measure an attack. (effectively making it a 100 star system, if you will..)

A fourth star for 75% at TH10+ might be good.
I totally agree, there must be this differentiation, it would be the best idea that supercell would make in this update.

A system based purely on % neglects the town hall completely. Not only that, we no longer have a clear line on what counts as a successful attack or defense.
My idea of a 5 star system gives a star for TH, 40, 60, 80 and 100%. I'm also inclined to say that a battle isn't won unless you earn two stars. This makes defending a bit easier, as well as rewarding better attacks.

Grossly undervalues th. No different from percentage only from a design perspective.
Everyone wanting a change seems to ignore the most critical issue. The enemy clan scores stars in EXACTLY the same way. This is why percentage damage was introduced as a tie-breaker.
Yeah, good reading, Chief. Battles would be won at either 60%, or at 40% with the TH, according to my first post. If you're going to be condescending, at least try to use what I actually said against me.
Though I'll admit the system doesn't really need an overhaul like this. I just like the idea of 5 stars instead of 3. I'm a numbers guy. The more, the merrier, haha
