Permanently Ban Players from Clan

A constant issue I'm having is spamming and harassment of my clan by players who have been rejected or kicked. They troll the chat by sending a request to join with crude messages, curses, or spamming.

I have sent several screenshots to supercell via the in game help tab, just to be told to change my clan settings to "Closed". Well, how am I going to get my clan to grow then? The answer cannot be to keep players from joining in an effort to avoid this unpleasantness.

Solution: Leader can permanently ban players from the clan.

I can't see the downside to this feature. Anyone else cares to back me up?

Note: I read the forums for ideas already being considered and denied ideas and I didn't see anything about Leaders banning players.

Reporting is the right way to go provided the messages are indeed harassing/ vulgar. Continue sending such things to support. They are not always entirely helpful but will get the job done.

Alternatively if the messages are just annoying or of a pestering nature, well it's a fact of life you'll just need to deal with at times.

Either way I do not support a ban list or any other over involvement by SC in policing of players/ clans in this capacity.

This suggestion has come from the amount of harassment (vulgar in nature) that keeps happening. I report it to supercell each time. Unfortunately, it doesn't keep my chat clean. I understand what you're saying although I don't see how a leader banning a player from the clan is it over involvement by SC. Can you elaborate?

Expanding the blacklisted time to 48 hours after a player is either rejected or kicked should help reduce the abuse. Few people are so determined to be that mean.

SC said to change your clan setting to "closed"?!?!?! In other words, YOU should give up the game?

Do they not understand that a repulsed stalker can keep it up intermittedly for months or years? I had this trouble, and it went on forever, until the stalker's target left and then I don't see it any more.

SC is, I am sure, failing responsibilities by failing to protect young people, when the evidence is clear, and the solution so easy. Show us the screenshot you sent them, and a screen shot of their reply.


The solution is a blacklist. Any player on the blacklist cannot join, or send a join request if it is invite only.

It can take a few rounds of correspondence, one message per day, before the messages seem to get a human response. First messages get computer generated responses.

Gee ya think ... hence why I said keep sending things to support.

Ban lists aren't needed. Send messages to support if it's a real problem.

CoC doesn't need to include trigger warnings or allow your clans to be safe spaces without closing them. Deal with it.

Others may not appreciate that you have to persevere to get through to a person. The robot responses are pretty good.

Ban list is needed. It's a real and frequent problem. SC is very slow, when some kid is repeatedly obnoxious the need to ban is immediate and obvious.

This game is recommended by SC for 13 years plus per the ToS, and by the iOS App Store for 9 plus. That comes with responsibilities. SC have been informed, now they have liability.

It is not recommended, it is required to be a certain age to play. While Apple may give a lower age recommendation the game itself requires you to agree to their TOS including age and behiabior guidelines.

If a player violates the TOS they can be reportex. Then SC can take action with a ban if it is a violation.

Obnoxious behavior provided it's not vulgar harassing or threatening is not a violation of TOS.

If at 13+ years old you are not responsible enough to play a multiplayer game with a social aspect then you should find something to play alone. Or tell your parents so they can coddle you a bit longer and delete the app for you.

Ban list is not needed or wanted and would just cause another set of problems from whinny kids for SC to deal with.

We had a guy ask in our clan about three times a week for six months. Not 'like six months' and it was actually a couple of weeks. Half a year.

Sometimes we would go a week and he was gone. Or so we thought.

Then every day for a two week run.

Annoying.
