QUITTING WAR:- This is it. At least for us. GOODBYE CLAN WARS!

I am not a quitter but it looks like this time I have to accept I can not figure out how to get us matched up with a equal or slightly stronger match. In process of going through 20th war since update and nothing works. We made all engineered bases sit out still no luck. Top heavy match 60% of the time (mismatch on top). As a small war clan it's so crucial to get a equal or close top match for us. We just getting ransacked every single time (top heavy matches). Last 5 wars been worse. 3 mismatches and 2 fair. Lost 8 big guns who quit clash in process. What a joke. It's pathetic to that you love a game and you cant even play the game to the fullest.

DO WE HAVE TO SAY GOODBYE TO CLAN WARS?

Visited your clan. I see a lot of bases with max defense without max offense. TH10s with lvl 1 bowlers and low 20s heroes but max IT. Max defense TH9s with heroes in teens. Looks like you guys maxed defense over offense. That is not a prescription for winning wars.

So you take it for granted that they are the once we are waring with? This is exactly the problem with many who comment here. Anyways, that's not our issue. And you won't find every clan going with max heroes. All who are in war are working on their heroes (they do sit out while heroes are down). Most have life and clash is a game. However, we all like the game but the sad part is that we get pushed to play part of the game because of mismatch in war most times. All TH10's you saw doesn't war. Antz as a th10 does the war now and then. Rez was put in lately to cover our mismatches with having th11 max on top from opponents. And all the guys who quit are the big guns as I said (with lvl25 heroes th9's). Hope this clears few doubts you have.

well... You really need to evaluate the members you are taking to war and avoid trash war weight.
In my clan I never allow a member to go to war if he is not able to 3 star a max town hall of his level. So, everybody needs to have at least one strong attack of the current th level.
The exception, of course, is to engineered bases. We use only one engineered base. This one is heavily lopsided. But even when you take a lopsided base to war you need to have a useful. and important goal for it, or you will have some trash weight (sometimes the lopsided base is not decisive to the result of the war, but on the other hand this offence weight will reflect on the other clan offense capacity and they may be putting this offense to better use then you).
If you are not engineering, just be sure to take good attackers to war that can 3 star a max th of his same level.
That's what we do and it works for us.
Edit: just for the record, I don't consider th.5 as engineered. I myself am a th8.75. But I only started to go to war since I had a strong govaho attack with lvl 15 heroes, so i should be able to 3 star any th9 (if I have the skill for it) no matter how strong he is.

I feel for you knighty. There has been a smoking gun about this for quite some time. Ive been saying for a while that it is ruining the game. These engineers can say all they want, and theyre on here all the time (I dont know maybe their guilty consciences make them feel the need to defend it), that it's legal and not against the TOS, and they can flash these phony stats about how somehow theyre at a disadvantage which is laughable lol, it is RUINING THE GAME. Im in a war right now that is starting in 7 hours. We have 2 th11, 1 th10, and 12 th9, then th8's and lower. Im the second th11 brand new with a level 6 warden and level 1 eagle, and catching up new cannon, arch, wiz etc. They have 2 th11 both with max heroes and defenses, and then four 9.5's all with sizable heroes, and somehow their number 13 has a level 30 queen, and they have a junk th9 at #24 with drags so he can clean our th8's for their orobably talentless th8's. So right off the bat, our number 3-25 have no shot to stand. Their number 2 is gonna clean our number 3 th10, and then all of our th9's have no shot to defend. We have to earn our 3 stars on their th9's from our th9's, they DONT. Now we are good attackers and we can and probably will clean their th9's, but its NO GUARANTEE. So in theory, both sides 3-25 have no bearing on the war. IS THIS THE KIND OF WARS WE WANT? How can engineers defend this?? Shouldnt everyone's attacks count? We were given a tip from someone weeks ago when we complained and let them in our clan to see the mismatch we were in, and ill pass it on to you. Make 3 defenseless, wall-less th3 accounts and put them in every war. We have been doing it and it has helped a little bit, but not enough. And because we have to do this stupid trick to keep our weight down, heres what that does: it makes our lower th8's WHO LOVE THE GAME, have to clean junk on the bottom. So in turn, its now ruining their war experience. So theres the domino effect. Because engineers have created this nonsense, subsequently its ruining the fun for the th8's who love the game because they gotta clean th5's and 6's, all because we dont wanna get taken as patsy's up top. This needs to be addressed. And most of these engineers are second and third accts of people who are too lazy to grind strong multiple accounts too. Ruining the game. Period. Theres too many people complaining about it now. Theres a saying: If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is a duck. Do something Supercell, do something.

We have tried almost everything. Break down of our last 20 wars in last 55 days.
We made th9.5's to pull in better match as we had a very bad run before too.

First 5 :- normal line up. 2 new TH10's, 2x9.5's, 5xth9's, 3x8.5's & 8x th8's with few filler low th'/ to make numbers.
Result:- 3 mismatches (includes 1 we over powered)

Second 5:- added 4 junk bases in the bottom.
Same no of mismatches with 1 other way around.

Third and fourth 5:- removed all junk and all th8.5's but had one 7.9 (th7 defence and th9 troops) and a 8.5.
Result:- first 5 went okay. With only 1 mismatch then the second 5 it's same as before. 3 mismatch all for us though and 2 fair.

However, when I also see over all picture last 6 wars we had straight up TH's except 2 out of 20. One TH11 to field the usual mismatch of pulling a th11 on top when we had none. But this move pulled a TH11 but our TH9's run down by TH10's with infernos.

And thanks to all who wished us luck. Hope New year brings us back. ✌🏼️

He don't even know who we waring with. He visited our clan from outside. No one came in and saw who is in war and who is not. A th9 with lvl 20 heroes a bad TH9? Come on. How many clans have you seen with all th9's with 25+ or 30 heroes. And it is easy to max defence way quicker than heroes. And also, he didn't know our full clan. We had 8.5's 9.5's and low lvl mini's which we made sit out and put decent attackers. All weak TH10's and below will get 3 stared by our clashers . So I say we good but not pro's.

It won't help you or me if a sarcastic comment is posted. Not all are perfect. But thanks for highlighting the prescription.

In my opinion, there is nothing better than when the war first drops, you look at the opponent and they have almost an identical town hall lineup to you. Thats when I know its gonna be a hard fought war. Then everybody has to pull their weight. Your th8's gotta clean them, if they miss you send a weaker th9 to clean. Then the th9's gotta pull their weight. The leaders are strategizing like my brother and I, we're on the phone discussing... who should go who, "dont touch 5 our th10 will clean, lets have this th9 attack this one he's a lil easier, etc etc... MANAGING THE WAR. The FAIR war. Thats what makes the game great. Then i gotta watch everybody on these forums giving attention to that manipulaying PH or whatever clan that won 215 wars in a row lol... what a JOKE. Big clean fests their wars. Th11's cleaning 10's and 10's cleaning 9's. Yayyyyyyy

Why should there be a prescription for losing? The only prescriptions for losing that there should be is:

1) bad attacking
2) deciding to put players in war with heroes upgrading and they are NOT willing to gem

Everybody progresses at their own pace. We have all types in our clan. We have our animals that move quick, we have our casuals that farm a little, and we have a couple that dont farm really just rely on war loot and collectors. If they get put in, they should get like-weighted players.

Everyone here complaining needs to join a clan that knows what their doing. Take notes, then possibly venture out on your own. I learned from a few awesome clans. And now I'm leader of ARMY OF GHOSTS 17-0-0. The people who figure out the game after every update will continue to win. Before you say "well everyone should have a fair playing field". Appreciating a clan for winning wars is sportsmen ship (if it is played with in rules).

Yes, SC duty should be to make things fair so clash like PH don't get the east advantage. But all SC does everyone is hit the casual clashers with dumb changes which would indirectly force people to spend $$. Happening this way since TH11 release.

As you said, it should be bad attacks, players going in to war with no heroes or spells and failing to use attacks should be key factors to lose a war. Not over powering on top. I agree. But I don't see SC listening to any once request.

I was trying to communicate with SC in hell and support in game for last 6 weeks. I am still waiting for a reply. That's how much they care about a issue. And that's the only reason I rigistered and posting here. But this is another useless place to cry about issues too lol. As I figured no rep from SC is gona read any of this stuff.

I just digged deeper and king kreg gas another th11 account grooming for the same thing. Both th9 defenses, no eagle. Hes really reaching for the engineer stars.

No thanks. You're not bringing in th11's. That might lead to 1 stars for you. That would really burn you up. You're cleaning honest hard working th10's with your max bowlers and healers and sizable warden. It doesnt impress me and never will.

When a clan gets to be higher level most war matches are going to be against equally high level clans. Some of those clans are going to take war quite seriously. No, not every clan is going max heroes, but the ones that are most successful probably are.

I have a gear to grind with the "Have a life" comment. That is a criticism of every situation that someone tries to be good at. I do have a life. I have a rather busy life. But I choose to take time out of my life to spend time on my hobby - which is clash. Just because someone is good at a game does not mean they quit work, moved back home and are now in mom's basement with five tablets. Some commit to a hobby. That does not make it "Not having a life"

I know. But how much is enough? But that's not the point. The point is SC only cares about stuff which produces more revenue. However, they are just driving casual clashers away from the game. Every foolish so called better game play they say is too late to add to the game. example shield for TH snipe removed. Or you only get shield if a player attacks you with x% of the camp size and atleast 30% your base, loot bonus in % etc. and now they stepped in to fix war MM which is broken since they interduce it. Busy is putting up money making stuff rather than fixing things to make game better. Oh well, no point talking about this anyways. However, my frustration could be shared is all I thought doing here. There is nothing to argue. A good game going to dust for me lol, like I did to Clash Royale. Greedy is not good SC.

The point made there is not to say he dontbhave life. Not said I have a better life. It's said to represent we very casual clashers with very little time to grind as hard as pro or op clans and clashers for heroes. It's not a criticism. Excuse my English. Don't quickly get butt hurt. The guy commented about clan just jumped in to comment saying waring with low troops and higher defence bases is receipt to fail or lose wars. That's the reply for. OP, I understand that you and many others are frustrated. Yet other clans out there are still enjoying a high degree of success and are having fun playing this great game. I would recommend trying to listen to those voices here on the Forum and visiting a few clans to see how they do things. Perhaps learn a few new things that you can teach to your clan. Don't spend your time here in perpetual flame wars, it will not benifit you at all. You are welcome to visit my clan, we are an adult, old school, war clan (most of us have jobs and families). Yet we are continuing to win most of our wars and we have fun doing so. Always remember when struggling that the guy in the mirror is ultimately responsible...

Thats a well written statement however we are concerned of the new 'cancer' of hardcore engineering happening in the game today. It's ruining a game that happens to be ultra time-consuming. Ive spent many many nights along as others spending 6+ hours running a war. Time grows fond on the heart. We dont wanna see all of our time away from family and friends tarnished because players manipulate the war weight. Legitimate concern as you can see the growing number of complaints on the forums

Calling engineering a cancer is overstating the case and borderline toxicity. Most clans never even see an engineered clan, others see them and think nothing of it.

If you are running defenceless TH3s at the bottom of your lineup in order to manipulate your war weight you are part of the "problem" that you say you so passionately dislike. You have said that you "have to do this stupid trick" to keep your weight down. Actually, you don't. If you were consistently facing engineered clans then something in your lineup would have been making those matches more probable. Why not try looking at that rather than manipulate your overall weight, which possibly causies mismatches for other clans that don't manipulate their weight?

The amount of complaints on the forums is not growing, it is decreasing. There was a rise in the amount of complaints regarding this following the March changes to MM, those complaints have fallen since the October changes.

I see the countless complaint threads about MM. There has always been complaint threads about MM here and there always will be. I always say you can hate on your fellow gamers (engineers), but you should be angry with the game/SC. It is SC's world and we are just living in it lol. I have no doubt that SC will be tweaking MM again in coming UD's. Yet we have to wonder, has tweaking MM improved matters? Has it made matters worse? Guess we shall see, good luck to you.

Agreed. Engineering threads barely get anywhere compared to before. Used to average 30ish pages, now they stop quite quickly.

I am NOT part of the problem. I hate having useless accounts in war cuz its starting to bore my th8's, but Thats what its become. Let me tell you something, I have spent as much time on this game as anyone over the last 18 months. And i can tell you that i certainly notice that it's almost every war now, we are seeing some form of engineering. I started my clan 18 months ago and was heavy into it in another clan 4 months before that. I have a th11 and three th9's, all properly built. My clan is the GLUTTONS. My accounts are Tommy_Gunz, Miao-Yin, Vicki boom-botz, and boston george. (Boston george's attack was featured in a clashing duke th9 3 star video he posted a few weeks ago btw, pat on the back). But anyway, I know the grind it takes in this game. All these accounts were farmed and earned, with money spent along the way. So im not a clueless noob, i see before my eyes the game deteriorating because of it. It needs to be fixed, period.

You made mention in this thread earlier about TH11s that don't have eagles. You are aware that they are now matching up against TH11s with equal the offense, equal the hero levels... and eagles? There was a tweak to the MM, that directly affects .5s

Are you saying to my face that there's not a problem? I would never have 3 useless accts if they didnt force us to protect ourselves. And we STILL SEE BAD ENGINEERING. Imagine if we didnt have those 3 accts in. Plz dont defend hardcore engineering. Even if they do put another th11 against an eagle-less th11, it trickles down below in the th10 land

OP, I understand that you and many others are frustrated. Yet other clans out there are still enjoying a high degree of success and are having fun playing this great game. I would recommend trying to listen to those voices here on the Forum and visiting a few clans to see how they do things. Perhaps learn a few new things that you can teach to your clan. Don't spend your time here in perpetual flame wars, it will not benifit you at all. You are welcome to visit my clan, we are an adult, old school, war clan (most of us have jobs and families). Yet we are continuing to win most of our wars and we have fun doing so. Always remember when struggling that the guy in the mirror is ultimately responsible...

Funny enough that I get disciplined when I try to respond to a sarcastic or picky response I get to to my normal post. However, I completely agree to your comment. That's my point too. No one gets any benift of making fun of a clan or person who is struggling. But I don't agree that it's me who is responsible for the struggle we going through in clash lol. I did what you said (visit clans and see clans who having success etc) my fustration is we still facing the same MM issues. As I explained in other response we tried all we could. No difference what so ever. Yes, many enjoy the game and war too, I agree. But why should some suffer? That too why as bad as we doing with MM? That's my question. I don't care about enginnered clans. All I don't want is a over powering match on top. That's it. Happy to lose wars because of our incompetence or lack of planning or so on on a equal or close to ours.

Your clan are roster engineering. Every clan that faces you will now be able to say that they saw some form of engineering and claim that the matchup was unfair.

As I said, if you are seeing some form of engineering almost every war that will be more to do with your clan's lineup. From what you said earlier, you are currently running 2 11s with only 1 10 and then several 9s. Try including more 10s or sitting the 11s out, dropping the defenceless 3s and see what that does for you.

I would love to aspex, I dont have any extra th10's. We are a family/friend clan. We all have eachother's phone numbers and can get a hold of people when we need them to attack. I dont want someone that lives in another country or someone who i cant get a hold of or is not a good player with such responsibility. Th10 is a commitment and not everyone has the will to go. You need to have close to 30/30 heroes in th10 to at least be able to thrive against other strong th10's. In the future when our th9's get close to max and are ready they will go. But that could be 6 months from now. I dont wanna sit n rotate on a pitchfork until then. When my players wanna war i put them in. I dont wanna sit people in fear of having an unfair war

Let me know where I said there wasn't a problem. In fact, I regularly post in these very forums that its a very big problem. That problem continues however, as more and more clans do exactly what you do- try and counter it with low weighted bases. We are all trying to counter matchups, to one degree or another. To say those that roster engineer (whatever the reason may be) are not part of the problem- that's where I disagree.

If you're still seeing crazy bad engineering matchups post update- then you should also take a deeper look at the bases your taking to war. As someone pointed out- the amount of engineering complaint threads has dropped dramatically post update, to where they were just a few months ago. Surely you've noticed that.

I havent noticed it. Maybe it did drop. I cant say that ive been harfcore on the forums for years. Maybe the reason it dropped was a ton of people stopped playing the game because of it, and there not on these forums anymore. I made a big stink a few weeks ago when we ran into a clan with an extra th11, and three extra th10's, along with 95% of their th9's having monster heroes. Im noticing every single war now, when you look at the war page of all the town halls and look at the opposing clan, theyre all out of sync and all over the map. I see th11, 11, 10 10 10 9 9 9 9 10 9 9 10 9 9 8 8 8 8 8 7 7 9 6 5. Who cares about 3 useless th3's at the bottom? Theyre not th9's with nothing except level 4 drags, 6 lightning and a queen. Theyre not affecting the outcome of an entire war. Im the first to say i would never do it if i didnt feel we could lose every war because of skewed war weights.

Maybe if you'd stop engineering you'd stop seeing as many engineered clans.


We don't engineer, outside of some .5s while they are new to the TH, but we sure do get annoyed when we see a clan with a bunch of defenseless TH3s at the bottom because it impacts the war enjoyment of the bottom of our roster.

When SC fixes the problem, ill gladly take those 3 uselsss th3's out. Unfortunately, SC is gonna take their sweet time because theyre making money. All comes down to money. Dont call me part of the problem. If we had all people like me, the game would be better off.

Becausr winning is not EVERYTHING. I'd rather lose to a better clan fairly than beat up on someone cuz we had an unfair advantage. I see the trend growing. I understand what ur saying. But just for the record I get paired with max th10s and eagle less th11s all day... And they always struggle with my th9 defense. Wouldn't u say it's easier to crush a th9 with a th10 than it is to crush a th10 with a th11?

I do not measure war weight, but have read multiple people say that most clans that are heavy across just few town hall levels see engineers less often. Engineer match ups occur when you have a wide spread of war weight yourself?

Ill come by with one of my th9's after work. If you can leave your clan invite only in a couple hours, i have u bookmarked. And for the cleanup aspect, of course its easier for a 10 to clean a 9, but the way the mass bowlers and healers are setup right now, th10's get too easily victimized

if you have a record of 206 - 21 you must accept that along with attacking skill you get an unfair matchmaker advantage at least 60 or so of those wars. Your maxed bases have drawn defence strong bases with lesser offence many times, and this has helped you to win those wars. If these defence strong bases came to the forum calling your clan and balanced maxers a clash cancer how would you feel. You draw the offence to defence ratio at 110%, ,5 ers draw it at 120%, defence strong at 80%, highly engineered maybe 250 + %.

where does the line become an absolute reference of morality? A separate question is what should supercell program to make clash the best game, i think it should reward based with a ratio of 100% to 115%, and strong heroes and wall, to keep incentive to farm and be active. Supercell should never let a war be more than 60% in one sides favour for me. But thats another discusion, my point is we are all gaming the system relative to others, so being angry simply becomes being angry with all those whos ratios is higher than the aubitrary line you draw, just in front of you toes.

Maybe maxer clans may create another issue, but it would be a less evil issue. We as humans, tend to want to keep moving up in life. If you have a clan filled with max th9's, and they get paired with another clan with all strong th9's not all quite maxed, then yes the max clan has a slight advantage. But the non maxed clan can still win that war. Put one 9.5 on that non maxed clan, and suddenly, the max th9 clan is at a bigger disadvantage. Cuz the 9.5 can say, "ok, ill clean 1 and 2, nobody touch them. Lets focus all other attacks on 3-25." Then 1 and 2 on the max clan feel disgruntled because they cannot defend against giant heroes and 5 spells and bigger troops (bowlers valks golems etc). So it would be a lesser of two evils that id prefer.

yes i agree the greatest the difference between offence and defence the bigger the advantage and the less competitive the war becomes, my point it to cut through the trees and assess the forrest all you need to do is decide what offence to defence range should be rewarded, or if none should be rewarded, and then you can skip the details of if its a maxer or .5 er or engineer, as these details are not as relevant as the offence to defence ratio, and then there is less personal feeling in the debate.

Yeah idk what to say about roster engineering sometimes you legitimately dont have enough guys to make a war. If you got 18 guys that absolutely wanna war, you gonna add 2 junk accounts. Its not right to sit 3 people that are ready to go. So maybe you make it a minumum of th5 to war or at least let the bottom junk be weighted as a th5 no matter what or something to that effect. I still say the bottom junk doesnt effect an outcome of a war like the tops. Again, thats for the programmers to figure out. Or maybe a 4 star war system could help out. The legitimate th11's which are almost impossible to 3 star could make up stars on the opponents if there is a slight mismatch.

This argument certainly held water pre update. SC has implemented countermeasures... tweaks to the MM, for this most recent update.

If everything else is the same- the clan with the 9.5 and those quote, giant heroes and 5 spells... higher troop levels- won't be facing the TH9 clan. With all that additional offensive weight, that number will be used towards the overall when searching for a pairing. He'll most likely see a TH10 with infernos on the other side.

All other weights the same, not having roster engineering affecting the overall weights... you could see a 9.5 and 9s pair with a bunch of 9s. Or a couple 10.5s against 10s. But they won't have giant heroes. Similarly, you could see defenseless bases lower on the war map sprinkled in. They would have far lower than maxed heroes. If maxed or near maxed- and those heroes are counting heavily towards their offensive weight number, which is being used for the pairing. And this would mean that somewhere else on the map, there is an advantage for the clan not running defenseless.

If you are running wars and taking lots of maxed to near maxed heroes with your mates- then yeah, there is the chance you will pair with some higher .5s. They would be either at a disadvantage defensive weight wise- or the same but with hero levels a significantly lower than yours.

I am currently in an impossible war, other clan i guess has defence to offence ratio around 0.6. I thought the matchmaker had taken care of this but i guess only .5 bit the dust. Kind of silly to kill .5 but leave the extremes.

As a TH9.5, I face full 10s almost every war. Most of those TH10s have lower heroes than mine & fewer troops maxed for TH10. I'd much rather face those players than another 9.5 with better troops than mine. We just came off a loss to a clan that had a 9.5 with TH8.5 defenses & a maxed heroes sitting around the #8 slot. That one guy didn't swing the war, but he made the critical stars on our top two bases that their top 9.5 was struggling with because his offense wasn't nearly as developed. I thought it was a great & fair matchup, even though our TH9s just couldn't match theirs.

Having high level TH11 troops available while facing TH10s with far weaker offense than yours doesn't sound like that much of a challenge to me.

I haven't seen it if you posted more detail about your war rosters, but if you consistently are getting terrible matchups, there are probably some tweaks you can make. Aside from all of the discussion about heroes, troops & war weights, you do need to take into account whether all of your players are performing well in war. At TH9, once you have maxed out golems, hogs, valks, loons, hounds & spells, you have enough offense to 3 star a fully maxed TH9, even with heroes in the mid teens. Yes, it's easier with level 30 heroes, but not all that much easier. Usually, the players with level 30 heroes a hard core war enthusiasts who have mastered multiple 3 star strategies & can analyze a base better than the more casual players.

I'm kind of skeptical that your roster doesn't have any players who pushed their defenses past what their offense can 3 star. That's just a recipe for disaster.

.5 are feeling the affects the most, because they are generally running max to near maxed heroes. The whole point of a .5 is to max everything before moving to the next TH. A defenseless base sitting at the bottom of the war map, with a 30k range weight looks scary with 20/20/10 heroes. But those levels are not high enough to have his offensive weight be a factor.

wonder if setting minimum defence weight to 0.7 of attacking weight is an option, or does this pennalise too much?

I'd stop putting a TH11 in. This just means instead of one TH11 on the other side, there will be 2 or 3. With 95 stars, it looks like your TH11 isn't an experienced war player. Unless I'm wrong & he can consistently get high % 2 stars on maxed TH11s, it's making things worse, not better.

Any TH9 that has level 3 xbows better be capable of getting 3 stars on a maxed TH9. If you have guys struggling to do so, they need to sit out of war until they develop multiple strategies for getting 3 stars on strong layouts. From a war management standpoint, it's better to have the better attackers wait until the less skilled guys expose bases. There isn't a player out there who isn't going to be more likely to succeed on a cleanup than a fresh hit, so put your best people in the position to make those attacks.

I've found we can get by with a couple of 8.5s in war, as long as they're great attackers who can 3 star bases with more war weight.

Don't use filler at the bottom. Sit guys to make a multiple of 5 that has no weak players. Running all balanced bases in a fairly close range of TH levels does seem to make matches with engineers or far stronger bases at the top less likely. We're 16-6 over our last 20 wars, with none of the gross mismatches or ridiculously lopsided bases at the bottom that we were frequently seeing before October.

I'll add my usual note that SC really needs to be putting a check on getting close parity of the top 20% or so of bases in any given war.

This guy won the thread. Its always someone elses fault when a weak offense clan looses wars. I suggest op tear down the whole clan and start over. Longtime members that never put effort into upgrading anything but farm troops can ruin a clan far more than any engineer

I agree, if you are an average clan, understand the game and such, if you put a balanced team in war, winning will mostly be down to your clans skills. Sure you will get easy and tough matches (sometimes ridiculous) but that's life, learn life is not always fair!

Knightly - you and your clan are doing something wrong, there are several things it could be but, it's you, not the game. I say this as our clan is not special (not engineered, not all 0.5) and since the last update, we managed a 24 win streak, losing the 25th.

When things don't go right or seem fair, it's easy to jump on the bandwagon and blame something else, without considering your own faults.

This is is a common theme on the war forum at the moment.

Oh whata surprise your number 1 got 0 starred... funny how an eagle will do that. Now i see the appeal of engineering. People's feelings get hurt when they dont mop up 3 stars. P.S. you dont look that disadvantaged on those top 5, their number 3's level 2 warden is like having NO warden

Yeah to add to this i dont get why the engineers are crying now that their .5's are getting paired with the real things... if thats the case, why do it?? Drop the eagles and infernos down then. It would make no scientific sense to not do it. So its either untrue, or its not the case. Either or, it needs to be fixed

Actually, there is a reason, it's why we have not fully scraped the .5 model and gone to full maxing.

SuperCell reinvents the game every 6-8 months. And there is no back button. Heroes have mattered, or not mattered, on no less than three different occasions pertaining to wars. Same with walls. Heavy end game defenses, at least twice. Become too heavy defensively up top today...when you have maxed heroes... and who is to say you don't see triple the amount of defense weight thrown at you in a few months.

Unlike SuperCell, and their propensity to act with large, massive tweaks/nerfs/buffs... we prefer to take smaller, calculated steps.

I get that and its fine but getting back to the weight-reduction tactic, even if it were true that the .5's get paired against true th, the domino effect happens somewhere else in the war, or else nobody would do it. If 9.5's got paired against 10's, then the 9's in the 10's clan would either be bad or outnumbered or both, and else where. And the slope is more egregious when it happens at the very top given the difficulty of attacking. Its the intent that bothers me. Idk what everyone's problem is... there seems to be a fear to compete at a high level in this game. Everyone seems to be afraid to be exposed for a bad attack. Its OK to lose. It's OK to 0 star once in a while, if you learn from it and go back to your clan and practice in FC, or go to youtube and watch some videos to get better, isnt that more rewarding than cleaning lower town halls? Everyone has some sort of complex. I two starred a th11 last night, 62%, walking queen. Coulda did better but i felt good cuz im a new th11. I cant wait to try again. I want a clash that rewards good attacks, and punishes bad attacks. Not formailites of cleaning everyone below you, like a 6 inch putt on the pgatour.

Their 2, 3 and 4 had enough offense to clear our 2-5. The defenses for our townhall 10s were maxed xbow, level 2 infernoes and townhall 9 splash/point defenses.

Their number 1 had everything maxed except no eagle (townhall 11 splash and point defenses). Number 2 was full maxed townhall 10 defense. The only base where we had the advantage was the very top one. Everything else was in their favor both offensively and defensively.

My only point is that you can still come up with a game plan to give yourself the best odds of winning even when you are the underdog.

We're 16-6 over our last 20 wars, with none of the gross mismatches or ridiculously lopsided bases at the bottom that we were frequently seeing before October.

I'll add my usual note that SC really needs to be putting a check on getting close parity of the top 20% or so of bases in any given war.

If your 10.5s already have 40/40/20 heroes, there isn't any reason not to build the eagle. Do that and your matchups are nearly even.

hes right daddylindo, i know you are angry with the current situation, i just lost 2 wars in 2 clans to heavily engineered clans, but as someone who polarised themselves in this debate early on, I can tell you its a long way back to civil centre, where progression and decent discussion can occur.

Because winning is not everything. I want competetive fair wars. Id rather lose an intense war than walk over another clan that CANT win. There have been maybe a dozen times when a war dropped and i knew that this clan was gonna be tough, and i love that. We get excited and amped up about it. Almost equal amount of town halls on each side and let attacking, defense and smart management of attacks dictate the winner of the war. If a war search takes 10 hours to find a good war, let it take 10 hours. Then take the time off prepday make it a 13 hour prepday. I cant fathom how engineers, especially the clan i visited yesterday can have fun cleaning the whole side because each town hall didnt have the defenses to handle the offenses. Every war in their warlog was 100% destruction and they never lost and the best an opposing clan can do is tie. The day the game gets like that which is the direction its heading is the day ill stop playing, along with countless others. Im trying to hedge that off. Make every attack count on both sides so everybody has to pull their weight. We dont manipulate everyone is properly upgraded so if we were given an advantage sometimes, thats not our fault.

You want what to stop exactly, wars at which you are at a disadvantage?

If that's the case my friend, you will win yes but, you won't be challenged beyond your means, you won't win those wars when you were the underdog, enjoying that sweet success in your clan, when you win against the odds, because you can punch about your weight - you will simply win or lose with the unchallenged bordem of a playground bully.

When you are pitched against odds which disadvantage you, this shows the greatest strength of your clan and win or lose, this is also when you learn the most from clan wars.

The advantage i like to overcome is basically the same amount of equal townhalls and they may have better walls and heroes than us. Or possibly they have 1 or 2 more th9's. Not a bunch of eagle-less th11's mopping up our th10's and infernoless th10's mopping up our strongest th9's with no skill requirement at all

Roster Engineering

Remove that aspect from the game... so we don't convert 5 TH10.5s into max 11s- and then take on a roster engineering clan with 14 max TH11s... and yeah. I'll get right on it.

Supercell has made inroads to fixing the matchmaker. We have less than 5% of wars which are cakewalks. The stuff you're complaining about happened more often pre update.

OK but, the current MM system 'mostly' matches the 'total' war weight of clans pretty well most of the time (in our experience since the update and, I'm bored of saying we hit a 24 war win streak, losing the 25th and we are not engineered or 0.5, yawn).

If anyone is getting an unacceptable level of what they consider to be a war mis-match, they need to look at their own clan composition, the dynamics of how their players are upgraded (attacking and defensively), the strength in attacking in war of each player, ability to make good defending bases and the composition you choose to take.

So when I regularly see TH10 bases in war failing to 3 star top TH9 bases, with maxed war troops but maybe not maxed heroes, does that mean those players have negative skills? Could another possibility not be that perhaps your TH9 bases (which can apparently be steamrolled with no skill required by TH10 bases) are not so great?

Our th9's are what win our wars. So this is inaccurate. Ill post our warlog in little bit after our war finishes and u can see we do just fine.

That's mostly gone now. I've seen townhall 9s with baby heroes (sub 10) 3 star maxed townhall 9s in war. If the opposing clan has an advantage up top, they are being disadvantaged somewhere else. Wars are mostly fair now and skill determines winners more than ever.

Your maxed townhall 9s should be able to 3 star 10s w/o infernoes fairly easily. If your clan is having trouble, it's probably due to lack of skill.

I agree. MM is fairer than it's ever been. It's so obvious that lopsided and .5 bases have been nerfed. The last clan I was in has had all their 9.5s drop infernos.

You talk of credibility whilst saying that you don't try to manipulate the MM but have 3 defenceless, wall-less TH3s that you take to war to manipulate your war weight.

As others have pointed out, attempting to manipulate your clan's weight makes it more likely that you will run into others who do the same.

Thank you. Thank you. I was the clan he visited yesterday. ARMY OF GHOSTS. As we debated... My coleader 3 starred the max th9 he brought over, with low heroes, first try. We will eventually loose.... Because I'm a 9.75 on top with 34/40/16. 4xbows. I weigh 76k and we all know th10 dips don't always go according to plan. So technically the enemy should be able to 3 star me easier. If anyone has time check us out and let me know what you think.
As for this debate that is a dead horse... I'm sorry all of you non engineers isolated in your little family clans while the rest of us were making power moves to insure victory. The real thinkers will always prevail. Sorry to be do harsh but this is my opinion... You are welcome to your opinion. I respect it.
For all of those saying engineering is killing clash... No it's making old school max th10s that aren't as into the game as they used to be, quit. This game will live for a long time.... I've personally got 11 of my friends playing. 2 of which are hardcore.

I have read many posts by Aspex in my and other threads and what you have posted is ilinformed and completely untrue.

Coddling engineering? Hardly. I pointed out a fact, which is that upgrading your town hall without also upgrading something else does nothing for your war ability.

I have seen war matches that are VERY close since the changes. More weight was placed on offense for sure and people with high offense/low defensive bases have lost a lot of their advantage.

If your clan is getting constant bad matchups, you have to look and see what is causing the problem. You do NOT want any max THs defensively, especially TH9s or TH10s. They tend to draw in THs of the next level and that is a BIG problem. Especially if they are maxed defensively and have mid 20's or lower heroes. Offense should still always be ahead of defense. Having a life, as you say OP, doesn't mean they get a free pass in this game. If you have ♥♥♥♥ heroes or offense, you will ALWAYS be mismatched.

My recommendation. Upgrade or get rid of any max defense THs. Go to the next TH or sit out. If they have ♥♥♥♥ offense, they are out until they get it upgraded. Focus on offense and keep an even pace with defense. Defense is MUCH easier to max, so it takes some planning and self control to not hit upgrade every time you have enough gold. I know it sounds like a pain, but if you want to be a serious war clan, you need to work extra hard at developing the proper base for war. Think about it, all those clans that have an advantage on you, that you got matched with, got a favorable matchup. Look at their roster and see what they are doing right.

We have to earn our 3 stars on their th9's from our th9's, they DONT. Now we are good attackers and we can and probably will clean their th9's, but its NO GUARANTEE. So in theory, both sides 3-25 have no bearing on the war. IS THIS THE KIND OF WARS WE WANT? How can engineers defend this?? Shouldnt everyone's attacks count? We were given a tip from someone weeks ago when we complained and let them in our clan to see the mismatch we were in, and ill pass it on to you. Make 3 defenseless, wall-less th3 accounts and put them in every war. We have been doing it and it has helped a little bit, but not enough. And because we have to do this stupid trick to keep our weight down, heres what that does: it makes our lower th8's WHO LOVE THE GAME, have to clean junk on the bottom. So in turn, its now ruining their war experience. So theres the domino effect. Because engineers have created this nonsense, subsequently its ruining the fun for the th8's who love the game because they gotta clean th5's and 6's, all because we dont wanna get taken as patsy's up top. This needs to be addressed. And most of these engineers are second and third accts of people who are too lazy to grind strong multiple accounts too. Ruining the game. Period. Theres too many people complaining about it now. Theres a saying: If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it is a duck. Do something Supercell, do something.

Actually, th11 dips on a th10 are FAR from a sure thing, if you have a good th10 then what you really have is:

2 full th11
1 full th10

vs

2 full th11
4 9.5's

Use your th10 to 2* both enemy 11's, or let him 3* 2 of the 9.5's if he's good. Use your 11's to 3* all 4 enemy 9.5's, or hit enemy 11's with 2 of their attacks if your 10 is good enough to 3* 2 of the 9.5's. 3* all enemy th9's with your th9's, then sit back and watch as the enemy tries to 3* your th10. At worst then you end up with a tie decided on %, and at best you win it outright on stars.

tbh I'm not sure why you're complaining. My clan regularly runs into multiple th11 when we have no th11 in the war at all, and we win about 2/3 of those wars in spite of the paper mismatch.
