Your friend already has a higher rank than any other "co" in the clan .. The IRL connection makes it so, because you are not going to kick your friend from the clan unless you guys have a conflict in real life.
ANYWAY .. the rank in a clan means nothing and the leader can flush out everybody and start over, if he feels like it.

i'd like to share my opinion on this:
have u hear about a lvl12 clan having 45+ members (minimum number) including only 2 co-leaders and 4 elders? (highest war win streak 19, and always 40K+ clan points including 20+ th10-11)
do u think that doesn't help to keep the clan progression?
do u think that gives a bad inter-clan relationship between clan mates?
do u think that prevent the members to be gentle in clan chat or in clan wars?
listen to me OP, there's nothing to do with clan rankings if ur clan isn't one of those "join for free co" types... :p SC already gives us all necessary tools to manage any clan successfully :) all u need to do is the proper use of those tools :D
good luck :)
No. Try reading the entire post.
I see being stuck as a member forever as a laughing stock. Not the rank in and of itself. I'm willing to tolerate it only so long as is required to fulfill all requirements for advancement. As far as the member rank goes, it's not the rank itself that's the problem, but the fact that unless you can move up, your going to be stuck as a basic and unimportant person forever. And that's not something I'll tolerate.
No competent leader would promote someone who doesn't read or comprehend their posts either.
And FYI : I've been Co in more than one clan that I've been in for 8+ months or longer. I'm used to that rank. Joining a clan and expecting promotions out of nowhere is childish yes, but joining a clan and then being told you'll never advance because they already have their quota of Elders and Co's set is unforgivable. We need room for advancement, and custom ranks/toggled powers fixes this in the best possible way.
So members are now basic and unimportant people? And long-term members who are satisfied to remain so are laughing stocks?
I read and comprehended what you wrote. I just disagree with your basic precepts and the conclusions that they led you to. To see rank as somehow conferring worth is a large flaw in your world view. The corollary of you seeing you not advancing as making you a laughing stock means that you would see others who were members and not advancing as laughing stocks and that is not acceptable in my, and I suspect most others', eyes.
As I said in my edit, those who want rank are often the most unsuitable to hold it.
What if you accidentally pocket promoted someone to "Leader's Special Friend". The forums would be flooded with threads claiming this happened and the inactive leader doesn't know who these friends are.
