TH9 DE Problems.

How and where are people getting their Dark Elixir from? I've had some small successes but I've only been a TH9 for about 2 and a half weeks (I quit after becoming a TH9 for like 5 days a month or two ago, this is counting time that I've actually been active) I'm going to include some photos of My profile, troop composition for DE farming, and base. I'm wondering when the DE starts to pour in? Obviously Lv.6 troops help, but there's only so fast the Lab can move. I'm trying desperately to learn goblin knife but it doesn't seem to work on alot of bases because when you jump spell, the goblins will just completely ignore it and head off to the nearest resource - like Storage or Collectors, that happen to be in the way of the center of the base. I've only managed to get a single Goblin Knife done right so far, and I'm wondering just where people are getting 50-80k DE a day from. Does it get easier the further you get into TH9? Or worse?

Currently I max my Gold/Elixir pretty quickly....literally a matter of hours. But DE I only pull in 4-6K a day. And It's killing my ability to up my royals despite still low levels on each.

Side Note: I'm prepping for war, my next army in line was a war army/spells. I don't generally ask for donations unless it's war.

You've gotta funnel the gobs and maybe be more selective on bases. I maxed my heroes primarily on mass gob and/or barch, secondarily on high league bonuses. Once the queen gets high enough, QW or QC with gobs is beast for DE raiding. If you happen to finish elixir upgrades before heroes, dragloon is an awesome DE strat for TH9 as well. Being in gold or above helps a little because you start to get a small de star bonus and at crystal and above you get the de raiding bonus. Don't be afraid to next many times until you find what you need. Move around in league until you come across an abundant area of dead bases. The more you raid, the faster it will add up. Be patient and don't give up. All who max heroes and those that don't go through the same frustration. The DE grind is tough but it'll pay off in the end.

I'm hoping it just gets easier once you've got higher level royals....people I lookup on how to do this on YouTube are doing it with Maxed out troops and 30/30 Royals without fail. Which I'm sure makes a rather large difference in comparison to someone just now entering a new TH level. And I'm sure I'm not the only new TH9 trying to figure this out either.

Drop the Golem replace it with 6 wiz, you are raiding DE no need to spend it on your most expensive troop.

Drop one of the jumps for an extra heal.

Use the Giants/Wiz/WB some archers if needed and one heal if needed to create your funnel and get though the first layer of walls.

Drop your jump to the core - 3 finger the goblins - heal/rage them in the core.

Only hit bases with 2000+ in DE where you can go thorough 1 drill on your way to the core and teh DE storage and TH are both in a central compartment.

These bases are everywhere and you can easily pull in a ton of DE. Let gold and elixir be a byproduct of your raiding. It sounds like you are doing it the other way.

When you come across a dead base with full collectors and/or drill by all means clear it of g/e with just the gobs, archers and no spells.

Also if you see some fat exposed drill don't be afraid to drop 5-8 goblins on each and then end the raid. Helps manage trophies.

For the most part I am. As soon as I hit TH9 I immediately dropped from Champions League to Gold League, and constantly stay between 1300-1600 trophies. Using 60 Barbarians, Archers, Goblins, and 20 Minions (no spells) to farm Gold/Elixir off of collectors. It's a dirt cheap Army at 36,000 elixir and generally lets me max out my gold and elixir storages pretty quickly, generally taking between 6 1/2 and 8 hours tops. Only issue being DE is a commodity and by-product of this type of farming. Which means I have very little of it, and currently lack the troops/skills to get more much more quickly than I already am.

I only JUST started to want to learn to farm DE last night. I mean I've asked before, but until around now I've never had the troops to do it.

Goblin knife is so easy to mess up. I used it for a while with some success but could go through plenty of raids getting it wrong.

Chose the base carefully, avoid ones that have mines and storages that take you away from your DE target. Don't forget the dark drills too

You have the L6 required goblins. Don't waste DE on the golem and don't listen to exaggerated claims about 80k de, aim for 20k-30k per day, more if you boost or don't have a life.

Klaus on YouTube has a good tutorial, that's the one I learned from.

I've been able to put a royal a week down on my 2nd account using pretty much that. BK 17, AQ going to 22. Sometimes I add valks for variety when I get bored. CC can be whatever but Giants, Bowlers, Wizards, Valks or Hogs all work great if you've got clan mates who will send them

I only get in 2 raids in the morning and 4 to 8 in the evening each day plus whatever I can sneak in on the weekend.

But don't crank out g/e like you do.

I will say the goblin knife did take a bit of time to get used to the learning curve but once you get it down and realize which bases it works out it's a breeze. Splash especially wiz towers and well placed tesla farms are usually the biggest issue as are CC valks/wiz which will wreck you quick.

Another alternative when your AQ reaches 10 is AQ walks when she's up.

Also, I found less DE in gold, try stick to crystal league.

You could start in Crystal 1, allow your trophies to drop while you farm the. Work your way back up when you notice the DE runs out (I found much less in lower gold).

It's a trade off. You get more G/E in Gold with the raids but less DE for sure on average but his royals are still low enough that the DE demands can probably be met in gold.

But I agree Crystal 3 and Crystal 2 seem to be the sweep spot. When you hit Crystal 1 you get a lot of tougher bases with less loot pushing to masters for the gem bonus it seems.

In the midst of hero n wall grind, gob knife takes practice, be willing to fail untill like any other strategy practice makes perfect. I bounce from silver to crystal though like gold for the daily de bonus, i gibarch lower filling de gradually while raking in gold amd elixir for walls and upgrades, for me around gold 2 start alternating with a form of gowipe to get to storages on upgrading bases. I also have determined that during a certain time of the day there are more dead bases in multiplayer, good luck, clash on...

I use loonion in champs n never have problems with de. There r obviously many ways to get de. Just a matter which suits u better. Gl either way

In high Crystal I'm finding tons of dead bases with DE on my TH9. You might wanna go check it out?:)

I found th9 dark elixir farming to be easiest. Use healers for your giants, funnel with archers, send in gobs to core the dark. Recommend crystal or higher for leagues. Look for the Taylor base if you can. It creates the funnel for you.

I strongly recommend against the upgrade route that you have taken. Here's what you should be prioritizing: upgrade giants, upgrade jump, upgrade healers. Probably do barch or something until giants and jump are done. Once those two are done try my "queen down army" which is:

20 giants, 20 wizards (definitely can sub in more archers or barbs here), 10 WB, 20 archers, 6 CC giants, 2 heal, 1 rage, 1 jump, 1 poison. CC can be skeletons or a poison so you don't have to use your own.

when queen is up I use:

16 wizards, 16 giants, 6 WB, 8 archers, 4 healers (QW), 1 poison, 2 rage, 1 heal, 1 jump, same CC as above.

TH9 is the easiest TH to farm at besides TH3 (Lol @ CC loons against 0 AD). I have cherry picked the literally worst possible area of my recent raid log. This is the section of the worst three and it only get better from here. Mind you I was also pretty drunk while doing this raids. As long as you have a general idea of what you're doing with QW (just using her as half a funnel works fine) you should have no problems at all.

I think that gold league is way worse for DE than crystal and low masters. However I've stopped going above 2650 trophies because nexting starts to take significantly longer after that point.

I don't see the picture. Also, I use a similar army but 60 gobs + 30 arch + 4 wiz instead of 16 wiz + 8 arch, also 10 giants only. @OP to gob knife, like many others have said: you must find the right base. the tailor style ones are super easy to beat, even with those troops you can get a high lvl th9 if you use all your spells. (giant lure, kill. rest of giants on one corner with drill, then wb and arch and wiz behind, heal, gobs, royals, jump right into core, another heal and rage. save a few gobs and arch for % for the 2* and any extra de drills on the outside. even works if there's just 1 wt)

I use gibarch the entire time in TH9. Troop upgrades: Giants 6 > barb 6 > arch 6 > wiz 6, don't bother with goblins, I hate any army comp below 95% win rate.

Army: 12 giants, 12 wb, 32 barb, 72 arch, 6 wiz, 4 minions

Spells - 2 heal, 1 rage, 1 jump
Raid these type of bases:
1) Dead bases - you want elixir and gold for walls
2) Dead bases with full drills - these will be your primary income for DE, target: TH8 - 648 DE, TH9 - any decent amount though >1.9k is preferred
3) Live TH8 bases - >240k elixir + >1.6k DE, with lvl6 troops these bases become easy to win. Use only 1 heal, 1 rage
4) Semi dead TH9 bases - >3.5k DE if drills on same side, >4k DE if drills on opposite side. Use 3-4 spells as per needed

Never hit a live TH9 base just for pure profit, 2.5k DE is not worth the spells and reduced win rate. Don't bother with queen walk, your queen should be upgrading 24/7 until she's maxed. If she's awake, it just means that your primary DE farming method is failing, so you're not farming enough to keep her down

Generally speaking I run barch at th9 until my heroes are about 20/20.....usually can keep one down a week with it while getting my lab work moving. After 20 my last 2 trips to 9 I switched to giwipes, usually aim for 28-4000k on each attack and can be done without any heroes at all. This week didn't have much raiding time but queen just hit 25 a couple of hours ago and king went 25 last night, little more time spread than I normally like but you can see it can still be effective with no hero involvement.

I maxed everything using giwipe troop combo...just hit the upgrade button on th earlier today

Had both heroes down the entire time from Queen 1-30 and king 11-30, along with upgrading all dark troops. The key is activity. So far this season, I am at 477 attacks won plus another 150 or so milking runs.

20 giants
3 healers
12 wiz
rest archers

spell heals

cc bowlers


You can either snipe collectors with archers/ giants or dive to storages with everything. Love that tailor base.

The most critical upgrade at TH9 is giants. Then upgrade heal,rage,jump.
My DE farming composition: 16 giants, 14 wizards, 74 archers, 6 wallbreakers - 2 heal,rage, jump,poison from cc, wizards in cc.
You can easily get most centralized DE storage - average 2.5k DE per raid.

1) Make funnel before sending army - with archers.
2) Send by line giants from side where you going to attack - to distract wizard tower from entry point for bombers.
3) Send few wizards to destroy side building at entry point - after that send all wizard.
4) Heal to giants, jump spell - wait for wizards to enter bases and rage them(Now you should check enemy CC - poison it if needed).
5) 2nd heal to core - to help giants tank DGB, X-bow, tesla farm.

You should looking for bases where you can get to core by 1 jump after wall breaking. Dont attack ring,circle bases. Always check for defense location - to predict giant pathing. Your wizards will die in few second if giants will not jump to center.

Why did you rush and then complain you can't keep up?

The next button is your friend. I barely play on my th9 mini but still make 2-3k off of every farming attack using zero DE in my army. If the base you're attacking isn't offering you minimally 2k DE, hit the next button!

I prefer something a big stronger that goblins. I like to have fun while raiding. I'm hanging out in crystal 3 and finding pretty good DE.

Your wrong here : I didn't rush. The only things left un-maxed when I went from TH8-TH9 were 4 levels on my BK, and around 100 Lv.7 walls. As for everyone else, thank you for all the replies. I'm going to max my storages once more and as I already planned, start the Lv.6 Giants upgrade in 7 and a half hours once my lab opens up. After that and I get a few more upgrades going I'm going to take some good advice and head up to Crystal 3 and begin trying to master Goblin Knife. My goal is to keep the AQ/BK down completely, and permanently, both at once until Lv.30.

I've already been to Champions. Shouldn't be too hard to farm back to Crystal 3.

And specifically to Sleeky : I'm doing/did do : Goblins > Jump Spell > Giants > Wizards > Archers > Barbarians > Minions > Rest of DE troops/war troops because I don't generally war. I mostly focus on base building/multiplayer. War couldn't mean less to me. I'll already be starting Lv.6 Giant upgrade the moment my jump spell ticks off in a few more hours.

I would still cut minions from the list. Also I see no healer. Giant, Jump, Healer are by far the most important for farming. Goblin knife is a bit inefficient at total loot/time when compared to other strats unless just concerned with DE. Also not try to offend but when you have only done one level on king at TH8 saying that you aren't a rusher "couldn't be further from the truth" is incorrect. While you've done well with everything else I strongly advise against not maxing king at TH8 but saying you rushed is definitely a large stretch.

I collect nearly 30000 de in one day just do a barch of not able to use goblins a barch is also a cheap option

this alone is the definition of a rusher. 4 lvls of bk is huge, as well is lvl 2 golems and lvl 2 valks. just because your defense is maxed out doesn't mean you didn't rush. I would actually respect you more if your defense was th7 lvl. yes every th8 sits on full elixir for 2 or 3 months at the end and most gold too. plain and simple , you rushed!

Teslas. ADs. ATs. GBs. Hogs, valks, golems, drags, pekkas, minions, spells...There is plenty there unmaxed for TH8 apart from what you listed.

Ignore the haters, you did the right thing by not maxing th8. Read my guide and my journey to help yourself.

Don't bother with goblin knife, it is actually quite a bad strategy. Gibarch will get you through all your needs

Thanks Sin. I'm going to correct Aspex and BLM one more time though : I am not a war player. I do not war, and when I do, it's very rare, and only because my clan has literally no other person to call on. I only care about farming troops.

When I went from TH8-TH9, every single piece of my base was completely maxed except for a few Lv7 walls, and 5 BK levels. That's it. Dragons, Valks, Golems, and Pekkas are war troops above everything else, and generally not used in mutliplayer unless pushing. And taking into consideration my ENTIRE lab was completely maxed off except for one more level on rage spell at the time, and DE warring troops (and again, they don't matter to me because I don't war) I didn't rush. I maxed all of my defenses and moved up. I literally only cared to max farming troops, and I even took the time to get levels on non-farming troops as well.

Alot of mis-information coming from Aspex and BLM. I consider it slander and libel of character. I always maxed my current TH before moving on to the next. Or at least all relevant pieces. It's how I play. Waiting when my entire base was maxed for a few troops I never use and 5 more BK levels would have slowed down my progress for months on end, putting me far behind where I am now.

Oh, and AD's/AT's were both Lv 5 through and Lv 8 all through before moving to TH9. And I ignored Tesla's because they were nerfed into the ground when I went up to TH9, and as for the bomb tower not being maxed, it wasn't even a thing when I made the switch, so irrelevant. calling it like i see it, sorry but your base is rushed. you don't think 5 lvls of bk is important to farmers ? justifyingyour rushing all you want, good luck, you will need out there .

Oh, and AD's/AT's were both Lv 5 through and Lv 8 all through before moving to TH9. You did the right thing. That maxer wasted 120 million looking for whos respect anyway. Such an inneficient way to play LOL. One more LOL to maxers who hate smart players.

Anyways, giants to level 6 is all you need. After that, just feast on th8s. They wont survive level 6giants because th8 is junk. Go for 1500 DE, or raid innactive pumps ( even better if th9). Thats how i make DE as a th9, giarch all the way. I always bring heals since I stop caring for elixir once camps are done.

I would suggest Archers before barbarians since I think they go better with giants, but barbs get a nice boost, so its up to you.

Sorry, but in this forums you cannot call yourself maxed until you have every single building, wall piece, hero level and lab upgrade complete. Being a th9 with 1 purple wall is rushed. And you need to finish everything with 5 free builders before you're allowed to start your th upgrade.

after some threads said abt raiding at gold 2 and being able grab abt 80k de on a active day...

so i manage to get 17 (6 from my clan, the rest from other friends clan) th9 to go gold 2 and do as what being recommended..

conclusion - theorically achievable and technically super hard... without any boost or ppl sharing account to constantly raiding as much as possible.

note we all are from international clan so 17 of them have a slightly different most active hours and i think we had a good coverage of different timing of a day.

1st: dead base can be found but it is most likely gold/elixir de is just avg about 1.6k (th9)
2nd: purely bararch alone you might not be able to reach core... you nid gibarach + spell at least on most base both th8 and th9.

3rd: most achieve up to ard 40k being active for the whole day for abt 10 to 14 hrs.

so that our small experiance.
a few of them have done before and say avg need abt 3 day to reach 100k de but usually is abt 4 days because it disrupt their daily task alot and you wouldnt want to do it edaily.

so good luck raiding de in gold 2.

Hey man, I'm all up for rushing, min/maxing and being efficient but you do have to give him the fact he is right according to maxers and a maxers definition. You didnt max everything which is what maxing is and thus you rushed. There is actually nothing wrong about that. You should feel good that you did what is right, fun, efficient and best for your approach and wants from the game.

Your a good guy xQQx, but I am a maxer. I maxed my entire base before moving on, with the exception of bits that didn't apply to me personally as I avoid war IE war troops. But I won't tolerate Aspex's harassment and personal attacks anymore. At least BLM stopped. I'm sick of proving myself right over and over and him just forcing me to respond over and over, insulting and demeaning me every step of the way. The fact remains that by definition and relevancy, I did infact max my base. I have never rushed and never will. I also mini-max my time, and consider myself a far above average player.

You cannot call yourself a maxer without everything maxed. You don't need to please these types of players. Lvl5 ad is rushed, lvl1 golem is rushed. They claim that you'll get wrecked with a single lvl9 archer tower and lvl5 teslas and you cannot farm with lvl1 dragons and lvl1 pekkas

Embrace that you rushed, and min/max away. You cannot argue with maxers

I maxed by maxing every piece of the game relevant to me before moving on Sin. For the record, I managed to get to Champions League by attacking nothing but Mid TH9's from 2800- onward. Since they were the only targets capable of getting me any trophies that were even worth it up to that point. And since farming troops/General use troops were already maxed, I did in fact max before moving on.

I'm not going to argue semantics, especially not with you Sin, since I like you and am currently reading a guide you put up, but I do call myself a maxer, and consider "rushing" to be an insult to the way I play. Aspex knows this and has verbally harassed me for what I consider to be the last time. I won't tolerate it anymore.

I would refer to myself as a Mini-Maxer, or outright Maxer. If anything. I don't nor will I ever rush.

No one is trying to insult you. If you didn't max EVERYTHING, and that means every single wall piece, troop, etc, you rushed in some way. It's not bad to be rushed, I rushed from th8-th9 myself and loved the decision. You calling yourself maxed however, was wrong, as you didn't completely max. They simply corrected you, calm down.

It's almost sad you would consider being called a rusher an insult. There really is nothing wrong with it, and there are few left on the forums who would consider a smart rusher to be a bad player (in part thanks to Sin and his crusade against maxers :smirk:).

Get to the crystal III or II league, then seaching for death base. I often find 5 k DE and i can pull about 30-40 K in one day. And i already maxed TH9 just for 6 months. Keep it up maxed all TH9.

On the contrary, I'm completely correct and did infact correct Aspex and BLM. They didn't correct me as I was entirely correct on the matter at hand.

Nice job! I hope I can get it done that quickly Rid. I estimate heroes alone will take around 4 and half to 5 months. And that's if I can keep them down constantly. Which requires alot more DE intake than I currently have.

I already explained that I did not war, and hence avoided maxing war troops for the time being because it would severely impact my ability to upgrade all other areas of my base, and slow me for literal months while I did nothing but wait on the lab for troops I never have a use for.

Not to mention the 400-600k elixir they tend to have ripe for the taking. Even using 6 giants to take all the collectors then using the other 6 to wreck the core is very possible with 6 giants and half the army remaining

Too bad th10 can't wreck a th9 like that and that's why lvl7 giants are so weak

I'll definitely be starting Lv6 giants in a few more hours....Haven't really found many TH8's in multi yet. Currently I just use 60 Barbarians, Archers, Goblins, and 20 Minions (no spells) and my BK/AQ (I'll raid with them on CD as I don't need them for what I generally do). Then I'll just find a base with 250,000 or more of both Gold and Elixir, no loot at all in storage (so I know its in collectors) then kill off the collectors, get my 50% so I don't drop trophies (unless I want to as I approach the 1600's) and that's it.

I need to reverse that and start looking for bases with higher amounts of DE instead of having Elixir/Gold be my main focus. I don't know which I'll do in 10 days after Giants...probably Barbarians or Archers. I'll get the last level or two on my spells after this, especially since after Giants I should have everything ready to start Goblin Knifing repeatedly.

Any idea xQQx or Sin where I might find these TH8's as far as trophy region goes? In the next few days I'm going to push back up to Crystal 3-1 and hover in there for a while. Currently traveling between 1300-1600. Don't really see many TH8's.

Learning curve. When you're learning it, you may face up to 20-30% failure rate. But even as a master, you'll still fail around 5-10%.

For me, I won't touch a th9 unless they have 3.5-4k de before league bonus. And I only use gibarch. Goblin knife isn't much better than gibarch unfortunately. All the pics I only see 2.5k which is too low for me to consider it as profit, especially seeing the spell usage

I use gob knife, but gibarch is better if you have both heroes up. I havent been able to use gibarch consistently vs th9s with both heroes. Its semi consistent with one, but gob knife is more consistent vs th9s if u have both heroes down.

In that case, I will always use my trusty Giarch. As a th9, I never farm a th9 unless the design is bad or its abandoned with full collectors. I never like armies that use the jump spell.

Valthis, I would do archers first because level 6 giants take the hits while archers stay behind hitting and clearing. I like this better to go for DE. If you like to raid collectors outside, then the barbarians are better to work as meatshields for the archers.

Well. I'll just do Giants > Archers > Barbarians > Rest then. Jump Spell at Lv.2 should be plenty. Once their all Lv.6 in a month I'm not sure where I'll go from there. But I hope to have made serious progress on my BK/AQ.

Ah yes, I do without heroes at all. I personally bring 5 maxed bowlers or 3 maxed valks per raid in cc. But I only use them for those th9s with capped de storage + few half drills (3.5-4k minimum depending on location of drills).

The th8s I raid don't need such treatment but since I transfer troops from my own account, I'll just raze them with maxed bowlers. Before miners were nerfed, it was very fun to use 6 miners to wreck the entire maxed th8 base

For one non-controversial example, you say that I have repeatedly called you a rusher. As you say that "Nothing I said was false. I spoke only the truth as I always have" you will have no difficulty posting a couple of examples of me doing so.

When you cannot, a retraction would be appreciated. I would expect it from someone of a superior intellect so I won't be holding my breath.

I prefer it, the gobs targeting storages/the TH give it predictability (for me, at least). It does seem to be a personal taste matter though, go with what works for you.

I didn't rush at all. I'm reporting both Aspex and BLM for repeatedly slander and harassment.

And for the record BLM : I didn't threaten anyone. I outright told Aspex he was wrong and told him I'd be reporting him for harassment. Which he is doing. And hoping a mod deals with him.

You don't seem to get the way forums work. It is not harassment or hijacking a thread for someone to correct you when you make incorrect statements. Saying that someone is incorrect over and over doesn't make it so. I have given factual examples of items on your account that are not at max TH8 levels and were not in your list of exceptions. I have only stated things that are factually correct. In short, I am correct, you are not.

Valthis in your original post you stated you were farming with golems and then when you realized you were contradicting yourself you went back and changed it after stating you don't use de troops to farm for your reason of rushing to th9 and not upgrading them. the evidence is all over the first page of this thread as you can see from these guys responsesadvising you to take out the golems from your raiding army. you my friend have truly contradicted your self at every post.

What a shame. A member asks for help farming elixir and gets judged for their style of play and how they describe their village upgrades. Lopsided war players get a lot of hate, but I don't really understand why it's so important to label someone who isn't looking for an "unfair" advantage and is just out farming. However you feel about OP's play style, it's long since obvious that the labels being thrown around are taken as an insult and continuing to lob them just inflames the conversation. Take a cue and stop harassing OP. This thread has been taken so far off topic that its origin can barely be seen from here. However, I'm going to leave it open in the event that any posters who could be seen to have been harassing the OP should reconsider and choose to edit or delete their posts.

I simply take "rusher" as an insult. I take extreme pains to avoid being called such. Spending hundreds of hours online mini-maxing your base and upgrading it as fast as the game allows and then being repeatedly insulted for how I choose to play isn't something that should be welcome on the forums.

I really wanted and hoped that just once I could open and thread and not have it derailed. I am sorry that that has yet to happen. And I sincerely thank all those who gave honest and or good advice.

*LAST EDIT* And just to set the record straight, I said that it was a composition I was looking into using for future Goblin Knife farming, and was asking for help in refining an army composition that would surpass the current one before beginning. I have yet to use those troops in a battle outside the battle I used them for after initially making said troops. To that end no, I did not lie when I said I didn't farm using Golems. I simply haven't started farming DE yet.

Ok. Then if you're ok with it, I'll close it. If it happens again, don't even respond. Just use the report tool and we'll handle it. When you report, if you include links to any other posts where the reported member has been harassing you, extra consideration may be given to the latest report.
