YESSS! This is annoying and as you say, unnecessary. It has stunted my attack on only a few occasions but when it does I get penalised for 'achieving'. It may not be the biggest issue the game has (not that it has many) but nevertheless if it can hinder, why keep it?

It has never ruined an attack for me but it is completely unnecessary and a distraction.

agree with OP, it does make you blind to part of the game for too long
it should be moved, or made smaller, or more opec

I agree the messages mid battle are unnecessary and block view of attack for no important reason.
I love the level up messages though. I love donating and I love leveling up. The message is fun

Please stop displaying such messages during raids.
They can be displayed after the raid.

Personally, I never notice the messages. And when I do, it's because I'm not busy focusing on my attack, rather, I'm watching it play out or patiently waiting to pop an abaility. I've never levelled up mid raid though, I can imagine that being incredibly distracting. But as for the red font messages, those only appear if you try to use something that you can't use. So if that's popping up, it's your own fault.
