Because I'm a 2 day old th9 and I can't grab any loot. I have a lvl 3 AQ and max Th8 troops. But all the bases I find either have xbows,lvl 7 mortars, or high level defenses. The ones that don't or are th8's have little to no loot half the time. Any advice for a new th8.5 farming? Right now I'm using Gigobarch (Giants,Barch,and Goblins) and I'm barely getting anything half the time
Most of the time it's what league you are at that dictates how much loot you'll find. Generally the lower league (i.e. gold, silver) are better for a new TH9.
What league are you farming in? Most of our new TH9s are down in gold and even silver raking in good elixir until thier farming armies are up to par.
The beginning of th9 was tough for me the first time around. It gets better once your farming troops get to equal level. Just pick on th8s at the beginning til you can get lv 6 giants to help you farm on th9s.
Personally, straight old fashion barch with no spells is the best way to start. Hit dead/weak bases and work on elixir upgrades in the beginning. Camps, spell factory, drills, ect.

I'm farming in Gold 1 right now. That could be the reason why it's tough for me. I still have 3 days till my lab is done. I hope thise days go by quick
Its all about hitting dead bases. You can max TH8, but if you don't attack dead bases you're not going anywhere in TH9. Be willing to next 30-100 times, every 300k dead base is much more worth than any 400k storage base you can find
Yep. It does get better, but it's a slog. I prefer higher leagues for the guard bonus. Hit TH8 bases with a full army. Use Golems, forget about Giants they are too weak.
Thanks for the advice everyone. I just hit a dead base for 300k gold and elixir. I also got rid if the goblins in my army. So far so good👍🏾
I will be in TH9 in 4 days. Which league are you in?
I am afraid I won't be able to farm with my TH8 troop with those X-Bows.
Try to farm in Gold III, that's where you get most loot.... go for high loot th8s or for dead bases... you can find plenty!
As for farming troops, try upgrading giants.... they help a lot...
You see I didn't max out my troops( i.e. minions & DE spells ) at th8 & came to th9. I'm almost 2 months old and now I have no problem finding loot.
As a new TH9 I've also been farming a lot so I can upgrade. There are lots of farming strategies that work if your in the Gold/Silver leagues. The army I'm using seems to do well since I can hit dead bases with it, or dig into weaker bases for storage loot too. The composition is (TH8 camps and spell slots) 15 Giants, 45 Goblins, 1 Hog (testing CC for troops), 3 wall breakers, 69 Archers, 3 heal, 1 poison, and CC Giants and poison. As a TH9 with upgraded camps I added 5 Goblins, 15 Archers, and another Heal.
For dead bases, send in a couple Giants to tank defences followed by Goblins. You won't need CC troops for the dead bases. For looting storages you'll need the CC troops unless the base is really weak.
I've been upgrading my AQ non-stop doing this, and she's currently going to L7. Also have been able to upgrade my Dragons to L4 and have Lightning going to L6. So the DE and Elixer has been pretty good so far. I've been farming in Gold, and usually hitting TH8s and weaker TH9s.
