There has been a lot of concern here, including myself, about the cost of the new features. Many people are concerned these will be priced out of their reach. We all know SC has real life expenses to keep HD going for us. My question is; how much should paying players contribute to supporting non paying players? I don't mind supporting those who could not afford to enjoy this simple pleasure. We have all been in tough spots at one time or another. What are your thoughts?
Well,I haven't paid in my 2,5 years I am playing the game.Economical crisis in my country (Greece) played a huge role.And I have bought a lot of things without buying coins and diamonds.
My thought is the people who have a lot of diamonds (bought or high level) will use R and E or even buy diamonds to use them.People who can't buy diamonds will not use R/E or wait until they have the specific amount.
And if paying people could "help" or support non-paying people that would be a good thing in my opinion.
In the future I may pay to get coins or/and diamonds to buy things I miss (machines mostly) and to support Supercell also.
That is very relative, an enormous number of persons playing hayday are in countries whose average salary is US 500 a month, or less, so even 275 diamonds price is not to be taken lightly. In my own country, the price of 570 diamonds equals a very good home made meal for 4 persons.
And it has to be considered that the big numbers playing hd is also what makes the businness financially worthwhile, if those who cannot afford it stopped playing then what?

I never want to see anyone not be able to play. I hope when SC decides on a cost for the helpers they don't make it out of my reach. I'm willing to pay a little more to make sure everyone can play, including me. I'm willing to pay a separate fee for each helper. In my personal opinion, the lumberjack is too much to work for me. I'd like to hear from anyone with ideas.
I do have some diamonds. But i WON'T spend more than 1 diamond per week for both of them. Is higher level player with dairy and sugar totally open (9 of 9 opened) I put syrup or cheese in at night. Rose and Ernest open possibilities to have 200 more space and after 3 hours extra production of cream or brown sugar if i want to do that as i'm asleep. :)
But 1 is only thing i like to pay. Tom (63 per week for me) and possible 400 things per week to buy is much cheeper. :D
I had 91 diamonds and I chose to spent them on the cute panda statue instead of R/E. I think I made the correct choice ;)
I've spent about $50 on diamonds in the 9 months I've been playing. As much as I play, less than $2 week is a great deal. I do understand that others may not be able to afford diamonds and I'm glad they still have opportunity to play for free. I will definitely not spend any diamonds on the helpers!
I think a lower practical cost for helpers and lumberjack would allow more players to hire them. Hopefully adding revenue to SC they need and allowing more players to contribute overall for everyone's benefit. A little from many often adds up to more than a big chunk from a few. Just a thought.
The great thing about HD is that is always been possible to play and keep progressing without spending any diamonds other than those you receive in the game from tool boxes, events etc. Diamonds only allow you to do things faster, more efficiently, or to buy exclusive decor (which wouldn't be exclusive if everyone could get it). In contrast, there are plenty of free games out there where it becomes impossible to progress without spending cash.
Both paying and non-paying players matter to the game - the first group pay the costs and generate profit, while the second make up the large vibrant community necessary for a multiplayer interactive game.
Very well said and I agree. Let's hope SC can spread these new revenues generators in such a way we all benefit.
First, I completely agree with what Tomville said, and there's no way that I could have put it better.
I've never shied from my opinion that paying players keep the lights on for me as well as them, and that I am grateful for that. But never until this post did I consider that somebody might be doing it as an act of charity. Frankly, that would make me feel sad. In a sense of "I'm sorry you seemed to think I needed donation and regret that you wasted your money on me.".Quote:

I have never felt anything but a sense of community. EVERYONE contributes in some way to the betterment of all of the community. Look at all of the great people who contribute here that help others overcome difficult game play. Look at the wonderful people who keep frustrated players from giving up. They are the real backbone of the community. They are the people whom should be praised. I would have quit a long time ago if not for the real wonderful people here. They carried me.
I'm glad there are players who have Hayday as a hobby and are willing and able to spend money thus allowing me not to. I've never felt it was unfair, I'm content to progress at my own plodding pace and hoard my diamonds like a dragon :smirk:
Everyone should be able to enjoy this game, diamonds or no diamonds. All contribute, items on market, reviving plants, filling boat boxes, advice, humorous posts, artistic talent...the list goes on. All benefit from one another so I don't see any kind of charity. I see a real community of diversity and talent. Each contributing their own gifts.
