Idea: how to stop Engineered Bases - progress percentage

Couldn't find if this was already discussed - but could SC implement something that limits Town Hall upgrades until you have a certain progress percentage was completed?

Example, cannot upgrade to TH9 until you have a TH8 with:
- 3 Lvl5 Wiz towers
- 5 lvl9 archer towers
- 5 lvl9 canons
- 3 lvl5 AD's
etc, for 80% TH8 max. once 80% progress hit, the upgrade TH button is unlocked.

You wouldnt have to be maxed, but a certain progress percentage has to be hit to unlock the TH upgrade option. Would have to grandfather a bunch of accounts, but the percentage complete could be used also to get Hero's to a certain level as well - limiting those already engineered bases from getting stronger until they upgrade defenses.

Thoughts?

I don't want to limit base building. I just want matchmaker to match them against each other.

Why would you want to remove a significant amount of the strategy from a STRATEGY GAME? How you progress is a big part of the strategy.

Terrible. Don't force me to build a way I don't wish to just because they have the MM wrong. Fix the MM.

However, the MM is not all that bad right now. We engineer and are getting fair wars.

Would be bad for the game to force players to drop certain items. And the grandfathering? Can you imagine the amount of complaining that would create?

Lot of people simply like rushing. If you restrict them they will give up which in turn affects SC. The real problem SC faces is determining between what is rushed and what is engineered. With 20 mil players in the game it is a challenge.

Matchmaking at the top of the map needs improvement. It will screw you much more than engineering can.

You would ruin this game for a lot of casuals that want to rush.

I think that would ruin the freedom of players on what they want to do with their bases. Better matchmaking would probably the best solution.

I think the best, and cleanest solution, is to just allow players to destroy/remove defenses. That way, anyone can engineer to their hearts content. It will create an even playing field as the real issue is "once you drop that xbow or IT or EA, there is no going back". By allowing folks to remove a defense, everyone will be able to engineer. And it will give supercell additional revenue as folks will eventually re-acquire those defenses (and likely gem)

I think it's a good idea, very much like boom beach does it. Too many people will complain though, because they will lose their ability to have easy attacks on lower levels (the lopsiders). People seem more interested in manufacturing a system that they don't to improve their attack skills.

I like the idea and I've yet to hear a plausible argument that would change my mind

To those bland quips of 'just improve match making' - Sorry to burst your bubble but engineering is so rampant right now it's virtually impossible to do.

Yup and to those guys I say let the tears commence. Their pursuit for an easy game has broken it for the rest of us.

Nothing is impossible. Matchmakings can always improve. Actually, I've seen clans with engineered bases where they are matched with also engineered bases. So I think it is not a virtually impossible work for SC. This idea somehow takes away the freedom of players to choose what they want for their accounts.

Because it takes away the freedom to choose. It will force players. And it will have a negative effect to players. Besides, this is a strategy game.

The question is, should certain be freedoms be allowed. Engineering is currently a freedom many would argue should be taken away - Me included

Freedoms are great as long as they don't adversely effect the greater good. Engineers are parasites and their exploits a blight on this game

I think engineered bases are considered strategic bases. And this is a strategy game. So I don't think there is something wrong with it. Specially, there are more rushed bases than engineered bases.

What you consider strategic I consider something completely different. On this we agree to differ

It's upto SC to choose a side I guess and make their call. Either way, they'll be upsetting someone

I disagree. We've faced a lot of engineered bases who failed attacking some of our bases/base designs. So you have to strategize also in your attacking.

Engineered bases are strategic by definition. It's not something that can be argued? The act of engineering is to design something to meet a particular use.

You can argue whether it's fair, but you can't just change the definition of the word.

Yes they do have to be strategic in attacking. You're assuming that engineered bases attack lower-level bases, which would be a stupid strategy. They should be attacking to their level no matter where they are in the map.

One good use for engineered bases is as some insurance against unfair defensive matchups. In our current war we have a near max TH9 at the top, and the opposing team has a near max TH10. Their bottom bases are weaker than ours, but, unless they are very bad attackers, we have no chance in this war. If my defenseless TH10 was in the war, at least we would have an offense that could try to counter their TH10 defense, although they would still probably 3* all of our bases, and we would only 2* their #1. (It's only a 10v10 war)

we got 2 th9, 1th10 matched against our th8 they have xbows and 1 extra airdefence. very bad.

This is not how SC wants the game to be like. If you want requirements before upgrading TH, go and play Boom Beach.

That's true. Just because someone has a different idea of what the best engineering strategy is, doesn't mean that it's wrong. Or maybe some just want their strategy to be the best by forcing it on everyone else?

NO. Or many players will left CoC. Having tge freedom to play however you like is an essential feature in this game since upgrading takes a very very long time. Your answer?

Why would supercell be so silly? If you rush for town hall levels, you will receive loot penalty and you will be easily defeated by other players at the same town hall level! Supercell actually wants you to do that!

To that point, I agree. Every base is engineered, not just lopsided bases. :) Besides, lopsided bases are easily raided. :)

First of all, many players will be discouraged to play because they purposely rush, for gettimg heroes Xbows and infernos. Often the overenthousiastic players.

and I consider the engineered bases (X.5 and minimax) as very strategic. Though minimax at th10 is a bit over the top I agree.

Also, your idea does nothing to stop current engineered bases, so they'll still be kicking butt and anti-engineers won't be able to stoop down to their level and engineer to beat them.

It is not worth it because different people havd different playing styles.If you limit there options it will become boring
