I'm a max th9 and currently upgrading to 10, and for the past several months I have been getting several defensive wins against full attacks but many times have less than 30% destruction so I only get a guard. Can we talk about rewarding good defens? Right now I'm getting punished for good defense. I typically lose my CC troops along with 200k of both resources twice before getting a shield.
The easy way to avoid it is to go up in leagues.
Make a weaker base.
I hear you brother. We'd a very similar experience. To be honest, I don't think anything will be done in coming updates for this corrupted shield system because that's their initial intention- to make sure unskilled players also enjoy farming. Maybe you should make your base tighter so the attacker will be forced to destroy more trash buildings during funneling hence ramping up the % to 30...your base might be too spread out...

Iīm a max TH9 myself farming in crystal/Master and althought I get a lot of defenses, they always get 30%+ . The one bright spot is that in the last 24 hours I have been hit by 27 valks three times and all three did not get 30%. Glitchers defeated!
Well thought so, all your trash buildings (barracks, camps, spell factories, collectors) are on the bottom try placing some on the top outer portion so it will help ramp up the percentages but nice base tho if it defends against queen walk...Quote:

Well to be honest I've not been a TH9 for quite a while but with trophy inflation I'm not really surprised that a good TH9 like yours can defend well at M3 these days. Try moving up into Champ and see if that fixes the problem. If you want to stay low then I'm afraid you'll have to put up with more bad attackers, unless SC tweak the mm in future.Quote:

going up in leagues isn't an answer, the whole league system is totally corrupted. How many max th11 and th10 are skulking around in the low leagues.

Good TH 10 players can get more than 50% on that base. I'm maxxed TH 10 and without my heros I get 60% on such bases. Going only for resources.
This is my number 1 frustration. I leave my base with cc troops (max balloons) overnight. I often wake up to a 25-29% defence, which might have got to the de if it was skilful, followed by a 80-100% defence and 2500 de gone. You can't set the alarm every hour to re-fill the cc and load the xbows.Quote:

No offense intended, but if you are consistently giving up that kind of loot with only 29% damage then the issue is with the base not with the system. One of the best pieces of advice I received early on when playing this game is to force your attackers to work hard to get all of your loot. That way one of two things will happen, either big amounts of loot will not be taken from you or you WILL get the shield.

M3 is not too low for a th9... Ignore those people.
29% is a broken game mechanic, so you will have to live with it to some extent.
But, anyways, asymmetrical vault bases like yours are more susceptible to 29%. When I goblin knife I specifically look for bases like yours. Any bad attack or certain types of good attacks, from the North, will have a high chance of low %.
Most vault bases, teaser bases, and exposed collector/storage bases are susceptible to 29% in the current game.
You will get less of them if you change your base (though you will still get them)
Not lucky, just a decent base design (max defences) and 22/21 heroes.Quote:

Are you in a league that is too low for trophies, and trying to just "sit on your resources"? SC has been encouraging players to be in a trophy league that is more appropriate for their progress in the game, and this is one way. Also, unless your collectors and storages are overflowing, 29% or less but they get 200k+ of both resources (400k+ total?) seems a little weird to me.... maybe not, idk! :/
30 Valks and 11 EQ can get boring after awhile, so I've started to concentrate on making a straight path to the core, get the CC and the TH and whatever else I can get and then stopping at 29%.Quote:

Millionth time ive said this: make it 30% destruction, or 30% army used will take care of this. Even a pure superqueen would give a shield with this system, much more often than now.
I am a 29%r, and I will purposefully stop before 30% just to make this problem as widespread as possible. Got a goblin knife cooked right now actually.
It's the gob attack. When I use it I only seem to get about 25-29%. SC needs to lower the shield requirements.
do people really care about this? theres so much more loot now than there EVER was (including pre dec). the revenue far outweights the costs. just raid a decent amount
I farm exclusively with goblin knife In champs as a near max th11and I can tell u I haven't Givin anyone a shield in a year. Always 1 star with 250k+ n 3k+ de. Spread out your loot more and make them destroy more trash buildings. If it's gobz ur getting hit by good luck lol
Personally I would always destroy above 30%even if I have taken all the available resources. "Give to those who gave."
Anyway, if you have builders huts, camps etc outside then the attacker has to destroy them -except in goblin attacks- and that normally makes 30% I guess.
I pull a few 29% myself. If it is too easy to get the loot, leave them open for the next guy. Too hard to get the loot? Try to get CC and leave them for the next guy. Get a balanced base were I work a little to get the loot you will get a shield.Quote:

Problem solved, I often offer marvelous loot but I've seen one goblin knife in 6 months (adapted the design for th9.5 and now th10). And it was a fail. However, good attackers can give me 16 hours shields from time to time.
I came across a ring base that had all 4 gold storages near the edge of base and elix in the core.. I goblined all 4 storages and 2 elix storages plus dark pumps and made like 400k gold, 2k elix and 600 dark.. The guy revenged me for 3 stars but was funny as I had nothing.. I gave him perfect 29% so he must have been annoyed.
i think it should be lowered to 20% or something or if all army is dropped then a shield is given.. If you get 29%ed 3-4 times on purpose it can make the game un playable if you loose 300k each 29% and it happens 3-4 times as a Th 10

That's fine. Stay in lower leagues and deal with the 29%ers. Like i said, can't have your cake (presumably easier loot on attacks) and eat it too (easy defences). Why move to higher leagues? Doing 29% attacks is more prevalent in lower leagues b/c low league attackers dgaf about the league bonus. That's the rationale anyways. It's a free world. Keep in mind there are two objectives in MP gameplay when it comes to defence - protecting loot and protecting trophies. Whilst it'd be great to be able to do both, realistically you can only protect on or the other. This is where base design comes into play.

It use to be 40% and it isn't just 30%. If they don't use enough troops, you won't get one at 49%. I doubt it will be going to less than 30%
Well, it is a matter of base design, make sure you have your dark storage in center and CC and TH there as well with xbows etc, then make sure some of your collectors are inside walls and make sure that there are some low hp buildings on the way to the core also spread all other storages all over the base, that way only stronger attackers will attack your base and you are more sure of a 30+ percent destruction.
Or you could move to crystal where you should be farming as a TH9.

i used to get 29%ed as a Th 10 as people would drop in trophies.. I changed bases multi times and still had the same issue till my infernos got maxed and then people could not easy attack me.

Strongly reconsider your base design. The moated walls along the bottom do nothing, as no one will come from that direction (all your defenses are up top too). The walls around the TH do nothing, any attacker that penetrates the base that deeply will have already killed all your defenses and will be unhindered to take the rest of the base. All 8 of your G/E storages are inside a single vault compartment (that's only two wall layers to crack into), you have 2 unused teslas along the bottom, and an air sweeper pointing the wrong way that does nothing to slow a queenwalk from the top, which again is where everyone attacks from (I can't seem to find the 2nd sweeper in your layout).
Break the base up a bit. Have your storages spread throughout multiple compartments. Use your air sweepers to push back healers from likely queenwalk directions. Encircle your base with the "trash" buildings (e.g., collectors, barracks, camps, huts, etc.) to force players to kill extra percentage to either funnel, or get their attacking force inside the base. If you fix your base layout, your 29% problem will stop over night entirely.
I'm not disputing that my layout encourages attacks that I end up defending at 29% . My problem is the fact that the shield system is terribly flawed if someone deploys an entire army, I Defend and then I get punished by only getting a guard, all my traps are tripped and then 30 min later someone else gets to attack a trap-less base. The amount destroyed should have no bearing on if I don't get a shield. It should be based entirely on how large an army is defeated. I've defended armies that only got 10% destruction because they patched all the way around my base. I get punished for the attacker's incompetence in attacking? The system is already in place to prevent th sniping with heroes to not award a shield. As was mentioned no shield is awarded if less than 33% of an army is sent that makes sense. The current 29% system makes no sense.Quote:

Yes, he gets trophys and loses minimal loot on the first raid. But what about the next one?
Basically, SC is saying, don't ever go longer than 30 minutes without logging on to rearm your traps.
But OP, this is the way the game is so I'd take some of the suggestions here about changing your layout and cup range because I've seen complaints about this for years and SC will never do anything about it.

The 30% requirement is just to ensure there will be more bases available to be attacked. It's probably derived from data mined stats where that is the most efficient cut off point. If it was any lesser too many bases may be taken out of search and if any more then too hard to get a shield.
