"What is the size of your barn?"

Hi all, how many of you are ready to answer when this question is being asked? I can say for myself that when i have joined a new hood and the leader or coleader ask me about my barn size, i would feel so weird n i wont tell em. I have had problem sharing with it. Ofcourse, i have shared my info in the offtopic thread but only after i learnt its just for stats and not for comparison. If a hoodie asks me this question after few weeks/months i would answer em but not so soon after i joined a new hood. Have you peeps experienced this thing and what would you do??

Ooh, interesting question. Possible answers to deflect:

"Not as big as I'd like."

"Somewhere between 200 and 10000"

Or they could go the sincere route and speak honestly: "I feel a little shy about saying how big my barn is. I'm not sure why I'm self-conscious about it. But I am. Is it alright if I just hold on to that info at least for a little while?"

And then they could add: " but it's not as big as I like"

Be honest. If they don't like it, tough. If you ask me, my answer is

"500. And I have completed every achievement other than the NH trading one. Any other questions?"

Now, I'm going to be nosy and presumptuous and ask you:

Is your barn really 500? Was that an honest answer? :D

Sometimes the best thing is to commiserate: often people don't care the number, they just want to vent about their barn being jammed up. At the point the best answer is often "My barn is the same size as yours: Too Darn Small! :)"

My barn size is a big as I need it for now, always saving for upgrade, but my barn is small for my level, I think.

I don't get bothered for upgrade stuff after my disclosure ;)



That aside, I would probably be uncomfortable if someone said "Welcome to our hood, what is your barn size?"

First, if anyone ever asks me I have never minded answering. (I'm level 115 now and it's 5000).

I'm a neighborhood leader and it's not something I feel like I need to know before someone joins but I'm always curious about barn/silo size. I've had some pretty high level members (level 60-80) who have had barns sizes way under 1000. I also ask people what derby tasks they like best and how they manage their fishing areas and all sorts of stuff. There isn't one best way to play Hay Day and I'm always curious about how other people do things. Being nosy has paid off for me, I learned a lot of ways to manage things.

I've never found that barn/silo size was a good indicator of how well someone plays. I personally think a big barn is better, but that's how I play, it doesn't mean it's right for someone else. If you don't want to tell them, then just don't. As long as you are doing what is expected according the neighborhood rules it really shouldn't matter what size your barn is.

See??? I am level 123 and my barn is 2700, but it is well organised ;)

Wow, 5000? :o I'm at level 70 and mine isn't even at 1000 yet :P (It's at 925 so I'm not too far off. Am actively upgrading, but rarely extremely short on space luckily :))

If you don't want to tell, ask why it's important and tell them you'd rather not give it out.

I'm level 113 and barn is 2750. Never had a problem answering the question. It can be conversation starter. It's not like they are asking your age or weight :) relax

The good news is that, once your barn gets up to 1000 in capacity, each upgrade will then increase the barn by 50 spaces, rather than the 25 that you are used to.

The bad news is that that is the only time such an increase occurs. My barn is currently 4550; I need 110 of each expansion item to gain 50 more spaces!

My neighborhood is pretty casual and non-judgy about that kind of thing, so we don't really ask each other until we're helping each other expand and are curious.

I really think the increase should happen more often than just once. I do know the increase happens though :)

Plenty of elbow room in the barn but the silo is always full.

I tell them. Barn is 3150, Silo is 3400.

Then I tell them, if your 'hood has Plank/Screw farms, I'm always short of those, but I have a Bolt/Nail farm, and always have extras. Let's trade and get them higher.

Level 97
Barn 3600

Level 58 and 1650 barn. Silo is 1900.

I would ask someone this and never think twice about it being a judgy thing. I'm just a curious person. I would certainly not take offense either. Hay Day, after all, is just an insignificant time-waster in the grand scheme of things. Anything anyone ever does on this game will matter naught in "life." At best, it can possibly ease your mind of stress by helping you mentally "check out" from the real world. In short, don't stress the game :D .

Some would say higher than average for my level, I did trade hard to expand those in the 40s & 50s. Now I just cruise along upgrading whenever I can.

Haha just read all the replies. Lots of ways to answer em. Some being shy like me and others being open. This post was inspired by a person in my old hood who got kinda jealous coz she is level 80+ and her barn is lesser than 1000. I know lots of people in this situation are not like this, am being cautious like never to answer em before getting to know that person n become friend with em. Infact i was somewhere arround 1500 in my level 80's but then i traded alot n got my barn up more than dozen times for few months. So its possible to get to bigger barns even if u start late. Hope that person reads this lol yeh its straight to u girl 😁

Even if it was 10,000 I reckon you would still have problems with it been full all of the time.

You took me seriously that my barn was under 1000? Silly boy.

I asked you your barn size as a get-to-know you conversation starter. My hood offers an upgrade circle for members, which I would have described to you had you stayed. It originally started because we had several farms under 1000 and it was a great way to help those farmers out. It's gone thru changes as the hood has matured.

And it never occurred to me that anyone would be shy about it.

Funny though, you were just in my hood a day or two ago. I did ask someone named Prasanna his hood size, to which he repied he was shy about it. I did tell that person mine was under 1000. I am in my 80's. No wonder I thought you meant me! LOL

I'm level 61 with a barn of 2400

Currently Level 69 w/ barn size 1400 and silo 1200. Rarely had issues with silo size so I recently stopped hoarding silo expansion items, but im still collecting bems and lems.
Even after occasionally using lems for land expansion, my barn maxes out often, which is a bit of stress. I thought my barn capacity was small for my level but seen higher level players with a much smaller barn than mine . It depends on each of us playing, i guess

Level 82 or 83. Get my 131st achievement this weekend and will only have the large NH trading one undone. Just takes a lot of patience. Don't have all the machines either and have not expanded everything to maximum. I think HayDay actually dumbs down a lot of things based on the capacity I have as I don't get the ridiculous boat requests, etc., that other people talk about.

And nice job on the achievements. I've only got that last NH trading achievement left also. It will take some years, I expect.

Lots of respect for resisting the strong pressures in the game to constantly expand the barn. Playing your way, and doing just fine? I can dig it.

For my barn, it's not as big as I would like it to be. :o

My barn is 2500 😄 not sure if it's a good size for my lvl (lvl 93) but no matter what it's always full 😒 .But still it's a great feeling you get after upgrading it 😃 at least for a few as you can shop freely for some time without caring about the "Barn Full" problems 😝.

I find that for every bolt I probably get 2-3 tapes and for every screw I get 2-3 nails lol

I shared my barn and silo size with my first NH as I was curious to compare with hoodies. I did not know about the level thread we have here on the forum. Turned out both my barn and silo were bigger than my hoodies'. As a result most started to expect me to give away my tools to them.. Others were relying on my stock because they know I could store more than them..

I worked really to expand my barn and silo, hours and hours of wheating and countless trades. I do not care how "big" my barn and silo are to some, for me it is not enough. Therefore I do not talk about my barn and silo size anymore to anybody. A NH that asks me straight aways my barn and silo size would surely make me feel uncomfortable.
