Hello farmers,

If you need coins for new machines, sell stuff for maximum coin. Make full use of the advertising and you will have buyers.
The size of your barn is the biggest variable, if we know that we could provide some more accurate ideas.
That is the part you need to figure out yourself... everyone farms differently.!
I don't keep any bread or popcorn because it uses too much space. Some things are really easy to find in newspaper, so I don't keep easy-to-find things.
Some things take longer to produce, like jams and juices, so I keep them well stocked.
I would say things to focus on are basics for making other things (and hard to buy), so dairy and sugar, along with those things that take a very long time like jams, as wussypuss suggests. To prioritise expanding the barn over the silo or land (apart from fishing area) at this point will be helpful in managing barn space.
I agree with what has been said so far. I would add that it's good practice to expand your barn slightly more than your silo, as the barn is where you keep ALL expansion items.
Some farmers concentrate on expanding only one building at once, selling off expansion stuff for the other building/land. That way they get coins, and the barn doesn't get so full that they cannot store anything else.
Easiest way I found, when farm is low level, is concentrate on planting, wheat, corning etc to get tools to expand barn, and collecting animal produce that also gives tools. At size 400 it is fairly difficult to fill boat orders other than produce, dairy or bread. After you expanded more you can begin stocking more easily. At about size 1000 4 of each stuff, cakes, pies etc is adequate between boats. Some 15 each of dairy, jams, sugars. Do not bother with stuff that can be done under 30 minutes or stuff you find easily for sell. You can always fill a truck for points and cash.
Thanks all. I am now working on upgrading my barn, it's actually difficult for me to find planks idk why. but i'm working on it.
If you have not done so already, buy pets and feed them... the more the merrier!
All these tips are great so let me suggest stacking as a way to expand your storage. There are a bunch of threads about stacking already so I won't go in depth. I'll just say that in my opinion the easiest machines to stack are; sugar, feed, jam, juice, and smelters. Especially smelters, there is one for each metal so you never have to dig for the type you need.
It's usual for some of the expansion items to drop more than others; it's all a part of resource management. There are various ways of dealing with that - I tend to favour selling off the excess of your frequently-dropped items, particularly when you are at lower levels. That raises coin and stops your barn from getting jammed.
Always sell expansion stuff for full price; even if you think it may not be popular - you'll be surprised how easily it goes, usually. If something gets stuck on the RSS don't waste a diamond to dump it; Greg or Tom will eventually buy it.
Oh, and to irritate you, my farm produces more planks than anything else! Perhaps you should join my neighbourhood...
Happy farming!
I have minimum 15 of each item in storage at all time.
Dairy and sugars i have a minimum og 40 each.
Juice, james about 20 each.
Expansion stuff a hole lot of them, haha :)
Depends on what you can comfortably hold. I think around mid-30s level I realized that I needed to have a stocking goal for items. I started small: 2 of everything. That wasn't because 2 was sufficient. That's what I had room for. And you need to be aware of exceptions as well. The cause for exceptions is typically because a product is itself an ingredient for something else (e.g. eggs, bread, pasta), or because it is frequently requested in large quantities (e.g. bread, bars, EMs). And maybe some things you can keep less of: the items from the coffee stand can be produced quickly, so maybe you don't need to keep as much on hand.
So start small. There will be many times you wish you had more, and that's ok. Main thing is to get in a habit of being able to maintain your stock so that you are producing proactively instead of reactively. Eventually your barn will expand enough that you can decide raise your stocking level by one. Then over time raise it again, and so on.
There is no managing your barn. It's built into the game to basically be the constant willowisp you will forever chase.
It boils down to your play style. If you are an avid towner or a boater, you'd want to keep items that take a while to produce in your barn while selling all others on the RSS at max price.
Thankfully, jewelry and candy are never required for boats. I remember when I first needed jams for boats that, once I got my jam maker, I would forever help jam boats and I do :)
Laura join a hood that is helpful with growing your barn and silo. It's so much easier in a large helpful hood. Your barn is painfully small!
Laura9, I let the game guide my barn storage. Specifically, the game as I play it.
I recommend figuring out what it is you like to do in the game, and how much product each of those activities take, and then storing stuff to meet (or closely meet) those demands.
Do you like to do boats? How many completed boats a week would be a satisfying experience? What boats ask of us depends a lot on our level, etc. So, spend some time making a mental note of approximately how much the boats ask for. Keep close to that number of inventory in stock. And if you're short, you can always advertise in the newspaper for help filling some crates.
Do you like to play the town? About how many townies a day do you want to serve? You can always keep a townie waiting while you make the stuff. But if you have a few of every item in your barn, most of the time you can fill an order promptly. Again, make a note of what the townies ask for and in what quantities.
Also, personally, I accept the fact that I can't do everything I'd like to do in the game. I'd love to serve every visitor that comes to my town. Impossible for me. I choose somewhere between 2 and 5 and send the rest away. Then pick up some of my neighbors' townies every day. Controlling demand (boats, trucks, town, etc.) is an essential part of managing supply (what's available in your barn).
I'd also love to upgrade my town's buildings. But storing town expansion materials puts exponential pressure on my barn, so I accept I can't do it right now. I sell all my town's EMs in my RSS.
