No. With clans you always have the choice to make a new one very cheap. I understand a lot of people don't want to do that as there are usually perks accrued on the clan in question. But you can always level up a new clan :smirk:
I'm against any kind of name changing to be honest and as it just leads to a lot of confusion. I can understand the one time base name change, fair enough but clans..., that's really not necessary imo.
No you cannot "just start a new clan" because all my clan memebers are in the current one and its a lvl 7 clan so we are not going to waste our time leveling up a clan from 0 when we worked so hard to get to lvl 7! It is necessary to make this improvement imo.
It doesnt take That long to lvl up really. I started aclan when we needed more member room. Half a year and its lvl7. Put it this way, you know how to do wars now and can have a better win loss ratio :thumbsup:

I too think that this is a good idea. As the originator has said, you can already change your account name once. This does not cause any confusion because each player has their own invidual member number. The clan system is the same, the clan has its own number.
I have previously suggested this idea too. My suggestion was that once the clan acquired level 5 (for example), it would allow a one off name change option.
The reason I am strongly for this implementation is because I am in a clan with a co-worker, to which it use to be his kids. Since then his kid has stopped playing, and since we are level 7 (soon to be 8), we would appreciate the option of a rename to allow a more creative and amusing clan name.
SirEvan, yes you can create a new clan and spend half a year levelling back up. Or, a clan should have the option to rename and spend that 6 months levelling their own clan further.
This can be a fairly easy and straight forward implementation for Supercell to do, and I hope this actually gets pushed further this time.
I don't see any technical constraints that would impede this implementation: clans already have a unique ID, and there are tons of clans with the same name.
Maybe they are giving it a second thought due to the competitive scene, avoiding clans renaming after top teams.
Anyway, it is something that would benefit the community as a whole (benefits > disadvantages). Plus there are several mechanics they could implement if name theft/cloning is their main concern.
I think they should provide a button to return to the old name before changing the village nome

If you're against name changes, you've probably never been in a situation like that, but I've read threads about people who have, and countless suggestions for this. A one-time name change has never caused any confusion for me. If anything, it has actually solved confusion at one point as two people had the same name to start with, and one of them changed their name to something else.
As for clans, I don't see why it would cause confusion. We already have clan tags which would stay the same through a name change, and so it's easy to spot the clan after the name change. Plus, clans may just want to make a very minor change to their clan name, for example a capital letter. If you can think of a legitimate reason why they shouldn't be entitled to one name change just for that, then tell me.
A name change for clans would just be overall good for everyone. You may not think it's necessary, but I'm sure there are many people who would benefit greatly from it, and those people would vastly outnumber the people that would experience problems with it.
