And we can just as easily lose 1000 and revenge and who knows they only have 200 (which is much more likely). Broken logic.

I'm of the same mind as this, though I really didn't use lightning on DE when I was a TH7 (I fought for it). I'm a TH8 at the moment and do get my DE lightninged from time-to-time, but that's mainly because I'm farming at a fairly low trophy count where there's a lot of TH6 and 7 players so I kinda expect this. I've noticed that I lose less DE due to lightning ever since the last couple of updates so all in all, I guess I'm OK with the current situation.

not lightning proof but it may be good that if supercell add attack range to lightning spell
so like this you cant drop lightning until you get some close enough to storage with your troops
this range may not be too close so if storage is in the center and the base has 3 layers for example you can able to drop lightning when you reach first layer
it will become more strategic to use lightning
