Stay th8 till u get your teslas at least at lv5 enough walls lv8 to cover your core and do the air defences to lv6 cos u won't be bothered to go past lv5 air defences at th9
I don't think that you should upgrade yet. You should max out completely or at least all of your defenses.
Im townhall 8 also and am almost completely maxed out with walls and even barb king.
My last defenses are upgrading and all I have to do is my de barracks.

Go for it. My village was very similar when I upgraded a month ago, I'm doing fine
It's quite nice to have a few 'cheap' upgrades left - say you have a builder free but don't have the 5m gold for an X-bow upgrade you can get him working on a tesla so he isn't sleeping.
Your decision though - it's only a game, play it how you want to play it!
Upgrade almost everything to max, you will regret it at th9 if you upgrade now.
