Secondly, the notion that players should not use perfectly good raiding strategies because the new system will make them take longer is ludicrous. A new system should not have a major flaw like this and effectively make farming longer and more expensive. It is nonsensical.
I wonder if at any point in your exposition you consider anything other than your current situation. Can you recall times when your barracks were not all maxed or you had one or more under upgrade? If so consider how much worse the new system would be. Less barracks working, slower cook times, bottlenecks on cooking troops that have only been unlocked from a small number of barracks. This is not an improvement.
You are correct SC does not force anyone to buy gems or use the free ones to boost or otherwise, for that matter no one even has to download the app or log in, but we all do. Saying because it's free or not mandatoty is no excuse to break a functional flexible system that currently benefits any player at any league or level in favor of an all or nothing approach that includes a massive price hike.
Did they intend to have 8+ buildings used in army creation? Doubtful. Did they intend for army training times to soar with the addition of every new troop? Again doubtful? To correct that they've taken simple steps to reduce training times on individual units and spells. But to correct the multi cue problem by breaking it in favor of something streamlined full of built in defects isn't an improvement.
