Whydo the English language globals seem to be the default global?

The vast majority of the time when i go in to global or switch around to different globals, it seems to be dominated by players who know english, but it is a second language for them.
Its very difficult to recruit players from your own timezone (north american time zones) or something nearby when every global is dominated by players from the other side of the planet. And for some crazy reason, this seems to hold true no matter what time of the day!

I was under the impression there are Chinese language globals and various arabic language globals, but none of the indian languages globals. Why is that?

We need some kind of option that might at least restrict the global to timezones based on IP location or SOMETHING. Im not sure what the solution might be.

yeah there are many bilingual people in the English section since it's a commonly known language. My first thought was to make a General English Global for everyone, and then possibly North American English, or UK English broken up by territory or continent. Idk though it would make so many extra globals. I do agree it would be cool though for finding people of similar time zones

Interesting idea, but let me ask you this. This doesn't pertain to your actual post, but I'm curious about something. Are you living in the US, and if you have, have you ever left? Me, personally, I've traveled to various countries in eastern Asia and the middle east. Lots and lots of people abroad speak English. A lot of people in the US hate how everything is coming with labels in English and Spanish because of the amount of Spanish speakers we have in this country, but a lot of things in other countries are labeled with their native language and English.
My point is that many people who are upset that Spanish seems to be taking hold in the US don't see and understand that the English language is doing the same thing in lots of other countries.

This might answer why there are so many broken English speakers in global...

Because English is the most common 2nd language in the world. If you change your language settings to French for example, the only people on there are native francophones. Ideally supercell would add a global for Hindi speakers, as this would reduce the traffic in English globals vastly.

The global language is selected by the dependence on your in-game language, for example, if you want to see native-English speakers on the global chat, change your in-game language to Norsk. Your location has some effect on this too.

The North/Central/South America, UK, Ireland, mainland Europe, New Zealand, parts of Africa and Middle East are within a 5-7 hr time zones of most of my clan. So English speakers from there also take a little adjustment when the majority of the clan is active. We are most active in our evenings (which for me is around 5pm-midnight eastern standard time).
We have tried recruiting members from outside our timezone (England, Ireland, India, Egypt, China, Australia, etc.), but just because we saw them there at a particular time one day does not mean they will be online at that time consistently due to their own timezone. The further you get beyond a certain timezone the worse the situation.

Youre right about your post NOT really pertaining to my original post.

I live in Canada, where we have been bi-lingual for a LONG time, and ive traveled to different places too. Im well aware of the fact English is the most common second language in many nations. So the quantity of players who can speak it or understand it to varying degrees is quite large.
HOWEVER, even in some places where it is a PRIMARY language, it is still outside the prime activity period of my clan...

My post pertains to recruitment issues when every English global is filled predominantly with players from well outside the region (all times of the day) the majority of my clan is from. In part because SuperCell has not created globals for some of those regions (which also have a massive population). For chatting purposes, sure have a big pool of anyone conscious at the time. For recruitment its a mess.
It must be nice for those other language speakers for whom English is a second language to know they have the option to go to a global chat where they will predominantly see people from their own region and timezone and are able to recruit from that pool of active players.

Why cant the players define the timezone criteria for the global chats they want to see? :thumbsup:
If i only want to see players from +/- 3 hours of my own timezone, why is that not available?

Why is it the English globals are the catchalls that have to be swamped while most others are not? SC has managed to exclude people based on language from all other globals. Id imagine the Finnish language global is pretty much just for people from SC's own country or Scandinavia.

Maybe we dont even need LANGUAGE based globals, and change it to just timezone criteria. Or will people from all those other globals then start screaming about being swamped? :D.
At least a compromise of having BOTH language AND timezone defined criteria would help alot. If someone from India wants to be included in the US timezone chat, then they can adjust their settings accordingly. If they only want to chat with people from their own area, they can narrow the criteria.
I personally couldnt care less where someone lives as long as they voluntarily chose to participate in those timezones, which hopefully reflects a willingness to be active at those times too.


Not only would timezone criteria for global chat help for clans doing the recruitment, it would also help the players looking for a clan to find an active one at the timezones (and times) that are most convenient for them.
If, for example, a player who works night shifts in the US wanted to find a clan active during the times convenient for themself, they can adjust the timezone to reflect it.

You're right, many people have multiple globals they can comfortably go to. The thing about time zones is that one time zone could have many different languages as well. So would you break it down even further saying EST Timezone English vs EST Timezone Spanish

Australia (where I live), Singapore and New Zealand as we would still be dumped into a global with countries that do not have their own and are the most common non-English speaking nationalities that are currently on the English global, as India, the Philipines and Indinesia all share a similar time zone. Also for those in the Uk they would pretty much have a whole chat to themselves as no one has English as a first language near them.

Thats true.
But what i was also getting at is if im using English language Global, i would assume that the other people also using it (no matter where they are from) can speak/understand English.
Part of my frustration is that when i go on the game during my clans prime time (5pm to midnight EST), the globals i go into are flooded by people who dont live anywhere near my timezone. They may understand English, but the chances are that this isnt a regular active period for them because they live MANY timezones away. Its a complete waste of time and effort. I want to increase my chance of finding people active in my own region (North/south/central America and the Caribbean all fall in that region, and are not all primary english speakers), but also know/understand English wll enough to communicate with the clan.

I go on global to recruit. i tell people what time zone were in and that i would like people from the same time zone. they join, find out they r from the other side of the world. I then tell them most of us will be asleep while theyre awake, they may have trouble getting troops. They still want to stay. That last a day or 2. Almost everyone of them leaves. Its a pain.
