Cancel it. Your base will be VERY premature when it gets to TH9. Losing half the upgrade gold now is nothing compared to the difficulty you'll find in farming later.
Dont cancel the upgrade, I went into th 9 about the same lvl u were and I am doing just fine getting resources. I currently am a lvl 73 btw. Th 9 isnt as bad as everyone says!

Do what u want cancel or not.in my opinion u should cancel it because it is not good being a premature town hall I have been there and most luckily still there.
You don't absolutely need to cancel you TH upgrade. As long as you have maxed troops for TH8, you will be able to farm your way out of premie TH9 status. That said, I would cancel the TH upgrade if I was in your shoes.
Okay so you're thinking about TH9 so fast? I rather you cancel it. Lol.
I don't want to say more, but I'm at TH8, I still have a bit of stuff to do like
1) Archer Towers all Lv 8 > 9 > 10 [max for th8]
2) Cannons all Lv 9 > 10 [max for th8]
3) Teslas from Level 3 > 4 > 5 > 6 [max for th8]
4) Last but not least, walls from Lvl 7 > 8
Eventually I raid as much as possible, until a builder is free, any spare gold I'll throw it straight into the level 8 wall upgrades and when I reach close to the actual upgrade cost of a defence, I'll do it so I have little or no gold, so my base is really unattractive for people to raid deep into XD.
But then... I like TH8, I wish I can stay in here forever, due to the fact I can raid TH10s for 1.5x the amount of GOLD[primarily why I'm raiding Th9/10s]/ELIXIR/DARK ELIXIR [primarily why i'm raiding TH10s].
Because of the TH10 1.5x loot advantage I can raid ones base and get most or all of the resources i wanted to. This is why I'm saying do not go to th9 now and cancel. 3million is easily achievable with 200 archers, picking out on abandoned bases/collectors. over 10-15 rounds.
ALso I'm going to post some screenshots of what I got at Th8 just for a bit of motivation so you don't go rushing for TH9 easily XD :) Sorry for the bandwidth guys, forum.supercell.net uploader is horribly slow for what it's worth -.-

Just to let you know this is my base. I'm still far from completing it [walls especially] but I'm having fun raiding at this point. TH9 and TH10 is only a slight advantage when I'm TH9 :( , you only get 1.1x bonuses

My point sums up everything well for not advancing to TH9 quickly ;-) and I think everyone (?) is following the right footsteps as i am Hopefully... You could rush from TH1-TH7 easily no problems because it's not so much BUT TH8/TH9/TH10 is serious business...
The only things you'll get is Archer Queen, 2 xbows, but that being said farming DE requires BOTH good offense AND good defense [which you lack]. If you can't defend your base against hardcore DE farmers... you'll lose DE really quickly...
Max elixir so what? I spam dragons for the fun of it even if it isn't that efficient in and out. I hate seeing my elixir peak at 6million and raiding elixir that goes to waste.
I just turned th9 and think I'm doing pretty good. I could have gone a little more into getting my defenses up in th8 but i just couldn't wait. I maxed out both my storages and de storage (lvl 4) was almost 50k) i ended up getting 2 xbows 2 army camp upgrades to 7 the archer queen and the lab, it worked out pretty well, but since i spent a lot of time on th8 (A LOT)i have a lvl 10 barb king and the archer queen doesnt even begin to compare to it, the only upside being 1. the speed 2.the range (i believe 1.5 tiles MORE than an archer)and 3.the rate of fire. upg ur barb, upg your defenses and if possible your walls and then progress to th9, dont try to get archer queen trust me upg barb king. my base isnt the greatest even with all my mortars at 6 from th8 and most of my walls 7, because my wizard tows were 6,4,4 my cannons were 10, 9, and the rest 8 and my archer towers were 2 8s and the rest 9s. take your time with th8, you will without a question be able to get much more loot.
Although only half of the upgrade cost is going to be returned,
if you ignore us you will face DAMN HELL difficulty in finding resources at TH9 prematurely.
