Bored? Any new derby ideas?!

Okay, so we're all bored with derby. We've gotten all our machines and cleared all our land. How do we stay motivated?

Our hood is in the same boat and have started coming up with new ideas for the derby. For example, try to score the LEAST amount of points, only do production tasks, no one is allowed to ask for help with their task, and everyone has to do at least 2 boat tasks (we hate those, lol!).

Anyone else started this in their hood and what ideas did you come up with that were really fun?

Do you have room for new blood in your Hood? Maybe help some new people buy machines and clear land

Im not bored with derby at all. Try a new hood. Fun to meet new people and see new ways things are done

Maybe i put this thread in the wrong place, maybe should've put in the "Derby Talk" section.

Hood change isn't the answer as we (as in the entire hood) are bored with the game as a whole.

We've closed our hood also because we've been burned too many times by new ppl in the hood and also we don't want to make promises to be around as we're all so bored that we aren't playing much.

I was basically just looking for ideas from others that got bored with the game also and created new and different ways to play to keep it interesting. Thanks for the input tho! :)

So far we've will have more hoodies in the next derby than in the last 8 months, since we decided to play derby by trying to score the least amount of pts! Everyone seems excited again!

How many are generally opted in? One possibly fun thing would be to take turns doing a solo stack and dash derby, or a pairs stack and dash. Another one might be a no trash derby... The fun there probably comes in laughing at the tasks.

We do something different with our hood and the derby. We have a fun derby week every 3rd week.

One of the rules is NO TRASHING THE TASK BOARD

Makes for an interesting derby. We have other bits to our fun week but don't want to give away all our fun ideas. Makes our hood unique and fun.

My advice is to just play around with ideas and see what sticks.

What do you mean by "stack and dash"? ur silo and paired ideas seem cool, everyone else can take a break without feeling guilty, that could defo be useful.

Also the "every 3rd week" idea is nice since we will keep having to poll everyone to see what we want to do the next week.

"Stack and dash" is just my name for a solo derby tactic many use. It works like this...

You don't get allocated to a derby pool until you select your first task, so don't select any task until ready to go. For the first days just trash, trash, trash until the board is full of tasks you can complete in very little time with preparing ahead. So that is a board full of production tasks, town tasks, mining, help, plus fastest crops. Then when you have the tasks, start stacking the machines (you will need a full barn to stack) and stack the town by serving but not releasing the townies. When all the stacks are ready, start the derby and dash for the line. Bonus fun for 2 or more town visitor tasks, as precision tapping will be required (hint: fat ones and skinny ones works best). If you want, spend the 10 diamonds as you're pretty likely to win the derby doing it on weekend this way, unless you end up late to a pool where others are doing the same. Or just go for 9 at no diamond cost.

It works pretty well with 2 people as well, but you'll only be able to prepare 6 each ahead of time and so will need to get another 3 or 4 each, so maybe start Friday or Saturday if trying that way for the extra time.

Or you could modify this idea for even 3-4 players by waiting until there are 12 tasks ready, then go, then play your remaining tasks as usual. Take a row or a column each, maybe?

HAHAHA Cheddar! i saw that post quite awhile ago and was very tempted! if our changes don't work i may introduce the others to it (they don't get on the forum at all).

Yes, I am bored. But I am also not playing in derby, so that could be why. I'm not in a neighborhood, anymore.

Midori - what keeps you motivated?!

I'm looking at derby right now because i quit (for my first time, lol, at around level 50) and i only came back to continue with the introduction of the derby. We've had our first week of derby changes and i'm just tempted to not even finish. i've LOVED this game for so long....could it really be that i'm just done with it all?! Maybe just need to take an extended break?

i haven't even reached level 100 yet but i know how and it wouldn't take long at all. i just have the type of personality that once i figure everything out, i lose interest. I wouldn't mind an extended break, playing only as a time killer/break but i'm a co-leader and feel i have to keep everyone else motivatived. Is this just me or are there others out there that like the ppl they've formed bonds with and don't want to leave the hood, but feel pressured to play/perform because of their positions?
