Wrong. Max TH8 is no match for 30/30 lava 8.5.
To be honest, .5 is more natural than throwing down every defense but there has to be a line.

.5s can go both ways. it can be hurtful and helpful. doesnt always guarantee that your mirror will be a lower th or lower the weight. seen many 9.5s get "matched" with th10s and 8.5s with th9s and also the other spectrum, 9.5s mirrored with 9s, 8.5s with 8s.
have seen clans with multitudes of .5s get screwed over and matching clans with more actual bases with good defenses and troops and have seen them match clans with more of the lower th
[QUOTE=URaTOWELL;8287020]You say that like it's an insult. I just went Th9.5. Until I can upgrade camps & barracks, I'm smart enough to go where I can get a good return on elixir with my Th9 troops. I suppose I could buy the upgrades too, but I like a challenge & I'm not in a big rush. I'll push back to higher leagues when I'm focused on DE.
This makes no sense and is not even close to an argument for .5s.
Th9.5 is intended to pull th9 target in matchmaking. A th9 3 starring a th9.5 is more difficult than 3 starring a regular th9. Or are you assuming that because you run 9.5 that a th10 should dip attack your base?
Career .5s need to be dealt with just as much as any other engineers.
I guess I could have been more clear in defining the 'true .5' as a base that has done absolutely nothing in the way of defenses. Nothing upgraded, nothing new. With lava walls, your 8.5 isn't matching Th8s any more. I'm fine with the idea that even that 'true' th8.5 with max troops & heroes is going to pull weight equal to a more evenly developed full th9. The idea is fair matchups, at least for me.
Im shocked at how many are so pro .5/engineered. Two things i want to throw in the ring is: 95% of these .5s/ engineered are bullying lower ths. A 9.5 is likely to hit a 9, a relatively easy 3 with little or no skill at all. Sure a 9 can three a 9.5 in return, but much more SKILL is involved(weaker troops, less troops, less spells)The theory of going .5 when a new th, i cannot argue. This is a smart way to upgrade. The problem with this, again many are taking advantage, just going up to next th for extra troops and spells, which currently weigh next to nothing. I think just add a little more weight to troop capacity, spell capacity, and certain "war troops" would help. My second point is my clan, who are mostly maxers, have decided to "join" them if SC doesnt do anything about it. Sadly i am NOT excited about this notion. Bully attacks are boring. An all .5/engineered clash meta would would be 3 star fest, and frankly not challenging and boring. Long term for the games sake, something needs to be adjusted.
