How come the beach cafe sells sun hats? Shouldn't that be in the gift shop?
It's not uncommon for shops to sell a few extra items that aren't typically associated with their occupation.
They are just looking after their customers and protecting them from sun burn. :)
Okay. But just sun hats kinda seemed odd to me. Thought it was out of place. I know there are a few food shops that sell merchandise, but it's not just one item. That's why it looked odd to me. I've seen places offered "piggy" banks, AND t-shirts, AND hats, etc. (sold separately, of course)
I think selling sun hats in the beach cafe is an excellent marketing strategy! Those visitors who get off the train, walk across the tracks, take off their shoes and walk through the sand to the beach cafe and order food to eat at a picnic bench outside might really appreciate not having to walk all the way to the gift shop (which in my town is WAY back from the beach) to get a hat. Also, it looks to me like they rent surfboards and possibly sell bathing suits if the ones clipped up on display with the flags on the roof are any indication.
Ehrmz.... why can't we make those hats?
