I've read enough complaints about the newer town task that I thought it was time to prove (to myself if no one else) that with the right strategy it can be done. By 'strategy' I don't mean diamonds. Used only the 10 for extra task.

Definitely a job to be proud of! Was thinking you must have a full 30 in the NH (which would still take a lot of team effort & hard work), so flipped to your farm & saw you accomplished this with much fewer people to provide the specific townies. Way to Go :):thumbsup:

I love the new town tasks but I am the only one in my hood, hoodies say it takes way too long to complete.

As for my strategy, I hope I don't disappoint. It's really too simple. If I do this again I will keep a log of my activities but I'll write what I can from memory.
1. Play too much. I was on a lot for the first 3 days of the derby. Early morning til late at night. Machines always going. Crops always growing. Me never sleeping.
2. Large well-stocked barn. I serve every townie whatever they ask for. I rarely pay attention to what I give them anymore.
3. Maxed trains. I would recommend upgrading maintenance time on personal train before going past capacity of 5. You can rarely pick up more than 5 of one townie at a time, usually 2-3. I play the town a lot. Train maxed so 10 every 90 minutes and I use it close to capacity. I usually serve about 150 townies every day.
4. Help from neighbors. A bit too obvious but you can't count on eggspress to bring enough. With 10 characters only an average of 1.4 per train will be the one you need.
5. Take the task as soon as it comes up. It doesn't expire.
Task 1, local. This came up an hour in, after two boards had been trashed. Had already been to town and sent away all fully served townies. Had only one local in town but neighbors had a few each so quite average for the task.
Task 2, strongman. Similar to local
Task 3, cowboy. See #2. End of day 1
Task 4, strongman. Should have asked for a task to be saved for me. Salesman came up just after I took cowboy. Had 5 salesman waiting for one more building when a neighbor took it. Could have had it done first day too. Oh well. Strongman competitions still on so several to pick up from neighbors.
Task 5, grand master. Old single men. Must be on a budget. No overnight stays or spa visits. Most just wanted a few simple groceries. This one was quick.
Task 6, cowboy. The rodeo had left town. Cowboys were scarce. Had to go far and wide to find them. Day 2 done.
Task 7, dancer. It's time for dancing. A neighbor had 10, yes10 for me to pick up!!!Wow!
Task 8, teacher. Like all good teachers, this one was calm and steady.
Task 9, dancer. See #1. Or 2. Or 3. Or 8. Off the game for a good part of the evening. This one crossed over from day 3 into 4.
Task 10, lady. I know, I know. Ladies first blah blah blah. Always end up waiting for them anyway! And wait I did. Had only one lady in town at the time. She was waiting for the B&B, which was full of course. NH had exactly 1 to pick up. Next eggspress had 0. Hoodies next 3 eggspress had 0,0 and 0. Ladies giving me nightmares. They did show up eventually. I can see that if this task was your first (and only) experience with this task you may not be in a hurry to try it again.

Do you ever have trouble collecting from the one specific townie you're working on? That's where my problem is. I do about 4 or 5 of those every derby, but i always try to have a couple more than what I need because it never fails, when I'm trying to collect the skinny little local guy or one of the small people, they're in the same building and stuck behind the strong man and the salesman and you can barely even see them. How do you get around that part? It's frustrating that we have absolute control over every other aspect of the townie, except the one we want to collect from first. We don't have that option.

Tried a couple of the new townie tasks the first time they came out and hated it. Jumped straight in thinking this would be easy being a big fan of the town. Never been so frustrated with the Derby or HD all the time I have been playing and seriously questioned whether I should continue playing the Derby as a result. Seemed to take forever to to find the right townies to complete the tasks especially when I'm normally a ten boat task Derby player and more recently ten tasks in one day player. Not been back to them since and leave them for the other members. Congratulations Clancy and well done you have given us fresh hope and a new challenge.

It of course is possible with planning, playing regularly and having active hood town players too.
Ultimately I feel it is just an inefficient task to challenge yourself for the sake of doing so.
320 tasks here are worth the same as 320 Mine Tasks etc which are soooooo much easier.

I am in a neighborhood of 2, and so I think it would be nearly impossible for me to do this effectively, but I'll see how many I can do next week.
Town peep tasks have become very popular in our NH.
Those tasks work best if:
- hoodies communicate and read chat and respect task reservations.
- there are enough hoodies who regularly put out most of their eggspress peeps.
- you don't feed them in advance, but only keep them loitering around until you've signed the task on (or reserved the task on the board)
- if you don't collect too many peeps in advance.
In the beginning, I collected 9 of one kind of peep, then 7 or 8 of 2 kinds of peeps and now 5 or 6 of 3 kinds. If the right task comes along at the right time, the first method is great, but usually, it doesn't and you get very frustrated. 18 collected peeps is a maximum for me. It's tricky enough already, but more would seriously cramp my town efficiency. I make it a rule to ALWAYS leave enough room in my town for a full eggspress to produce peeps for my hoodies.
I find if I try to set my town with enough of specific types those townie tasks never appear on the board, I like to keep playing my town as usual and as a townie task appears then start collecting the right townie, just don't serve their final/only stop. I find they easy enough to collect even in my case, a 2 player hood.

At the risk of raising a hue and cry about opted-out neighbors helping with tasks, here is the collection of locals who have been loitering around my town waiting for an opted-in neighbor to send for them. I just sent them to the platform and her PT is on the way. Of course, I can't see the board, but if someone in the chat posts the townie tasks that they might want to do, I save them. This was a particularly rich haul.
