What's the best investment for $ at level 31 when you're a newb?

So in my other thread I talked about how I was basically broke but level 31 already within like 4 days of playing. It definitely has to do with the Orders that I was filling -- they give good exp but the pay is abysmal and I was sinking all my coin into the market shops. But now I find myself needing a variety of buildings, and I want to make the best financial investment since these take a few days of coin-making.

Here are the buildings that I need still...

1. Cake oven
2. Fishing area
3. Boat dock
4. Mine + smelter (figure these should be bought together or you just get useless ore?)
5. Juice Press
6. Ice cream

After looking at them all, they're all over 30k coins with the exception of the Cake oven and the Dock.

However, after seeing other farms it looks like the boat docks are basically a quest game, thus poor coinage. Would this be another mistake like the Orders I filled that left me broke and high level?

Frankly, I know almost nothing about the different buildings but the diamond mine clearly sounds more lucrative ;), but I just don't know...

In your opinion, what's the best investment for the quickest cash thus enabling me to buy the rest of the buildings sooner?

Mostly a barren wasteland and no cash lol.

I would focus on Fishing and Mine first.

Since your playing coin catchup your better having more avenues to make Diamonds - which both Fishing and Mining can offer.

Mine lets you use TNT, Dynamite and Shovels for Ore and Diamonds. Even if you just sell the Ore at max for now it's another [small] revenue stream.

Fishing is a totally separate area, you can make lures for free [well time obviously] to catch fish. Can sell fish at max or make fish products to sell at max; another revenue stream!

Extra Diamonds means more Tom and more extra slots on existing machines. :)

Tom can be used to make you very rich via Axes and Saws as discussed in your previous topic. Or even just getting him to fetch something expensive [Wholy Chaps for example] and resell at max. Tom sells goods cheap!

I would go cake oven, ice cream maker, juicer in that order (juicer runs fastest so less overnight production compared to the other two). Sell everything you make in rss for max coins. Then I would go with fishing area (so you can do fish pie and fish burgers on your existing bbq and pie oven). After that I would go for the mine - yes ores are pretty low coin but they sell fast, but really at this point you want it for getting free diamonds every so often to add slots to machines. And after that I'd probably choose boat dock, then the smelter.

I'd also suggest growing soybeans and selling them, 108 coins for 10 soy beans is pretty good in time it takes, and they sell well, as likely your silo isn't big enough for wheating that same amount of time without getting jammed. Yes, you can make a little more off carrots on same time, but at this point you'd need more soy beans for your animal feed production than carrots.

Would give exactly the same advice as Tomville did. Leave mine for after the machines suggested above.

Another suggestion....find a hood that likes helping new players. I've been in a few hoods where the older members had so many coins they were eager to help out the lower level hood members with free coins. This works especially well if you are a polite eager helpful hood member. :)

My hood is depressing... i joined before I was on the forum, of course. So my leader is not even in my first derby and I have 1587 points and the second highest in my NH has 1085 and third it is 298... I don't think our horse has much gas left lol.

I kinda like it. Wide open spaces and all that. :thumbsup:

You know, as the seasons change, the native trees change their look/colors. If you're into that, you might consider preserving some of those trees as you expand your farm.

I learned too late about the trees changing seasonally. I chopped down most of them. Then, when I learned, I carefully saved the few remaining. But they're kind of scattered sparsely around my farm. And that doesn't look as good as having a variety of different-looking/shaded trees clustered together. When autumn comes around, it just looks like a flat reddish-orange tree. (My poor struggle reddish-orange tree!) I'm contemplating chopping down the remaining native trees on my farm, because they're kind of in the way when I want to place game stuff. And, today, that "barren wasteland" aesthetic is speaking to me. :D

Again, play how you want. But HayDay does not reward being a high level. Unlike most games, higher level increases expectations on you, yet doesn't offer any superpowers. Go slow. Make stuff (from scratch, don't buy ingredients), sell at max. You actually acquire significant XP that way. But you'll have money to buy things.

I never considered myself "set" on coins until you have all your unlocked machines, but also enough in bank to buy every remaining locked machine. But then I'm the kind of person who likes to pay off their credit card every month.

Ok... level 38 now and wondering what is the best to get?

Fishing area (seems like work some people said they just do nets)
Ice cream
Jam Maker
Jeweler
2nd smelter (seems like a poor choice... i dont get anything but tickets from the bars)

I can get one of these right now, what's your take please?

Fishing area, hands down.

Ice cream would be second.
Boats won't ask for jewelry or bars, so you can fill boats to get vouchers, if you would like.

I didn't get the jeweler until very recently - Level 44 or 45 I think (now 46 and I already can't remember :p). It's still sitting idle a lot of the time because my smelters (even though I've finally bought a third) can't really keep up with making enough bars to keep it going.

I second the fishing area, then ice cream maker (ice cream sells for quite a lot and doesn't take as long to make as jam), then jam maker.

Went ahead and got the fishing thing... those damn fish burgers are in high demand in the town no less...

Also splurged and almost went broke getting the ice cream maker now. 39 and growing!

Oh and what's the best use for the tickets that I get? Bought a couple dogs but they're pretty low level.

Tickets = lures for fishing = diamonds and filets

Tickets aka "vouchers" are definitely good for fishing lures. Each time you catch a fish you haven't caught before, or a size you haven't caught before, you earn 1-3 diamonds. Check your fishing book for "pulsing" fish. That indicates you have diamonds to collect. When you first start fishing, you catch quite a few. However, as you progress, the "new" fish become few and far between.

Using vouchers for pets is a cumulative benefit. Feeding pets gives you tool drops like harvesting crops, feeding animals, etc. The more pets you have, the more drops you get. My pets are one of my most reliable sources of expansion materials. While it does take bacon and milk to feed cats and dogs, I find that helpful when my barn is full and I want a few empty spaces. I can feed 3 cats without waking them up, and that creates a bit of space in the barn allowing me to collect some animal feed or some other product I need that is stacked in front of a machine. There's no rush to get the pets, but they do "pay their way."

Regarding the pets, I had a question...

I have 1 dog house and 2 dogs. However, if I only put bacon in 1 of the 2 food bowls, both dogs seem to give me exp. Is this the way it is supposed to be (therefor it is a waste to put in 2 bacons)?

As far as I know, the pets give you XP once they've gone to sleep and you wake them up, regardless of whether there is food in the bowl or not. But eventually they'll both need bacon.

Cottontail is correct; it's waking up the pets that gives you XP. They won't go to sleep again six hours later unless they have eaten. They'll also look very sad when they are hungry!

Make sure you have barn space when you wake them; sometimes a rare item will drop, providing your barn's not full.
