Does your Hood Use farm names or real names? POLL!!!

Have always used actual names. In the first hood I kept a cheat sheet handy until I could easily remember all 29. Just seems common courtesy. You don't go around calling your real life neighbors by the house number on the street.

And those of y'all who use farm names better hope nobody ever decides to prank you when you have two farms at the same level and simply for a hoot use the same farm name as the other of the same level...

Indeed!!! It only became an issue in our hood recently. Many were quite insulted being called by farm name, in spite of our introductions:rolleyes:

I remember doing a "cheat sheet" as well. I see farm name as a personal expression and I prefer to be addressed by my real name

I love having my farm name used to address me in our NH chat. I don't see it as any different than a RL nickname. One of my neighbors is a RL friend that I brought into the NH with me and the two of us address each other by our farm names in the chat. I see it as an affectionate tribute to each person's farm. I spent a lot of time deciding what to call my farm. I went through about 3 names before deciding on Dibley Fields.

I think using farm names, or diminutives of same, makes it easier on any new people who join the NH. I find that it saves my brain one step in keeping track of who's chatting. We know everyone's real name, but I think all of us are happy with our Hay Day alter egos.

I truly like hearing different perspectives on this subject! Using farm names may be easier, but getting to know your Hood is more personable for us

Fascinating. A few years ago when I was visiting a former hoodmate in her new hood, a member asked me what my real name is. I said it was my farm name. Then she also asked if I'm male or female. I was stunned because I didn't know "Thor" is a unisex name. She thought it was short for "Thorane" because she has a colleague with that name.

When new hoodmates join my hood, I address them by their farm names and don't ask for their real names because I get confused too easily. :)

If anyone calls me Tom in chat, I reply "Miaou" lol

I like my nickname. I use neither farm name or real name.

My rule of thumb is to ask other what they would like to be called and use that (unless I find it's too long to type and ask for something else).

For players in our nighborhood who use a real name as part of their farm name, we call them by the real name. If not, most of us use the first part of their farm name, or if that seems objectionable (e.g. Cow patty) whatever part is preferable. Any requests for something different are of course honored. And, our illustrious leader is known by both her real name and by the first part of her farm name; some prefer one name, some prefer the other.

In my nbh. (part of) the farm names are used in chat (at least I think they still do). On some RSSs there also is another name that could be used, but I used to call neighbours by their name displayed in chat.
