Tom has come back with the highest offer of 7 five times in a row. This game is starting to irk me. Although I have been told diamond drop rates have not changed, my recent experience tells me otherwise. Now that I have parted with those hard to find diamonds to hire Tom, I get nothing but grief >.<
edit to add: six times in a row now. Has there been a change to Tom that I missed? I went without him for a week as I had surplus products so I might have missed something.

I haven't heard anything from anyone else re him changing.
Last week I used Tom to fetch diamond rings. First time the highest offer was 7 rings; Second time was 8 rings; Third time was 8 rings so I accepted it.Quote:

I still don't understand why Tom offers different options other than the the one on the right.
If I have paid diamonds to have him run errands I can't imagine settling for 3 or 5.
I know it's always been that way and possibly if someone had a really full barn they might settle for the lower options. But if I have a full barn hiring Tom doesn't make any sense.

I have recently started stacking again so do hire Tom with a full barn. I get around this by holding hundreds of saws and axes as ballast and discard as necessary. I also have all my town visitors sitting in shops unserved and serve only the number necessary to make room for new products.
I feel like Tom has gotten less generous, for sure. I've fought with him for over half an hour recently to get 9 of anything. He'll bring 9 on the first try occasionally, but it's pretty rare. I find it annoying, because I'm paying for him. He should bring me what I want.
As many others have said, I'm not really sure why they offer the first two options in the first place, why choose to get less items and profit out of your diamonds.
Someone suggested once if you ask for a different item after the second offer of 7, then you can refuse that item and ask Tom again for the original request and he will bring 9.
