Birdhouse Wait Times

How is the birdhouse wait time to again donate determined?

The ability to donate is supposed to be DAILY. I thought it was based on a specific time of day, for instance every morning at 8AM your 20 donations reset. It sure appeared that way based on my own game play. If I finished at 2PM I had roughly 18 hours to wait. If I finished in the evening, my wait time was less.

However, yesterday it took all day to donate the 20 items (the birdhouse is not being well received in our nh). I finished at roughly 8PM. It says I must now wait 18 hours before I can donate again! ♥♥♥? Most of the "day" will be gone, and given time zones of ppl who play, it will be difficult to find enough to use all the donations. At this rate, I will eventually come to an entire day where I can't donate at all.

No one in our nh can figure out the mystery timing. It's now 8AM and instead of resetting, it says I still have 8 hrs left. Sigh. I have asked support for an explanation, but frankly their contributions are becoming worse and worse. If they respond at all it will likely be days in coming.

It's sad that all we really wanted as players was the ability to lock trades to inside the nh, and instead we have another "feature" with rules that are a mystery, limits that are annoying, decos no one can find (what exactly WAS the first achievement award because none of us can find it), and as a result only 3 or 4 people in our nh of 18 will even participate.

Exactly!

The first 'reward' (60) is the change to the Birdhouse - it changed shape and acquired the post/stand/perch that the Raven sits on.
The second reward (450) is a rearrangement of the tiles/paving slabs/cobbles where (unhygienically) the donations go.
The third reward (4000) - I can't remember and frankly may never see.

There's a thread where someone has worked the timing out, but it was confusing and makes no difference to me, so I didn't really absorb the info. Sorry. But you should be able to find it, the title was pretty obvious.

There are only two of us in my NH, we are just requesting/donating crops, either what we need, wheat or something higher in XP, just to (slowly) get the Achievements. I'd like to swap blankets back & forth for the XP, but that reduces the number down to half and I'd rather get the achievement points.

The whole thing is a pointless farce.

Small change thanks for the reply. At least I can report back as to the lavish reward we got for those 60 donations. Geesh. How cheesy. It's funny you mention the hygienic. Someone in my nh commented on that same observation. She thought it would be wrong to use something that had been sitting on the floor, lol!

...especially a food item lying on the ground for an unspecified period of time where a mouse is running around and a crow is regularly flying by...at least the items stacked in front on our machines are on a table.:cool:

I can't remember where I saw it, but I believe the third achievement "enhancement" is a rose arbor gate in the fence around the NH yard.

Ok. I think I got it figured out.

20 donations allowed in 24 hours or more.

Here is the 'or more' part. From my experience.

The timer starts when the first donation is made.
Tuesday I made my first donation at 3:00pm
Wednesday 4:30pm
Thursday 5:40 pm
Friday evening I went out and did not donate.
Saturday morning 9:00am I made all 20 donations in a minute. Checked timer and must wait 24 hours to donate again.

There is no set time of day when the 24 hours starts. It is set by your first donation after your previous 24 is up so you get pushed back a bit each day if you don't make your first donation ASAP.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or just the design, but it is how it 'works'.

Were your NH overwhelmed by their reward? :D

I'm only using my crops in things that are well cooked, fortunately in HD that's most things! ;)

So here's the convoluted reply I got from "help".

The timer will start for the donations when you donate the first item in the neighbourhood request board and from that time the timer will count. You can donate 20 items within 24 hours from the starting time.

For example, if you donate 20 items in 1 hour on 10.00 hrs on 10 July 2016, you will need to wait till 10.00 hrs on 11 July 2016 to be able to donate more items.

Also, well, I m glad that you achieved the Green ribbon so soon after the new achievement was rolled out few days back:-)

Once a player donates 60 items to the NH, the request board will get a face lift and no decorations or diamonds are rewarded for the same. The face lift includes a bird stand to make the bird feel more comfortable while holding its grip over the request board.

I've sent them a follow up because this is NOT what happened to me. I started donations late morning, finished early evening, and was told I had to wait 18 hours to start again! Almost an entire day and certainly a lot longer than when I started. I'm quickly losing interest in this new feature.

What would have been wrong with simply resetting the time at 12:01 each morning? It accomplishes the same thing, is easy to understand, doesn't require keeping track of anything, and wouldn't end up ticking people off because yet another algorithm doesnt work. I swear, if it weren't for my great neighbors I would have chucked this game long ago.

Did you see my post where I included Clancy's post on it? Does that seem accurate for you?

I think it probably is, although the 18 hours I experienced makes me wonder if its actually working that way. The problem with this, as is usual for SC, is that its poorly thought out. To REALLY be daily it needs to simply reset at 12:01AM each and every day.

Instead, we have this stupid clock starting with the first request. Why? Makes no sense. Yesterday and today are perfect examples for me. First, because of the 18 hour wait four days ago, by the time I could actually donate the others who are actually trying to participate had long sense exhausted their 5 requests, wait time fell within night time hours, and they'd gone to bed.So, its night time for me as well, I can finally donate, and no one is on. That means I lost an entire day to donate. Two days ago, I donated all 20 by 7:00AM. Yesterday, earliest AFTER 7AM I could find donations was around 9AM, extending the "daily" clock by 2 hours. Today, its 9, and I've just missed 2 requests by a few minutes. I will now wait more minutes and/or hours and when another request FINALLY shows up, that will start my "daily" clock at THAT point.

This birdhouse trading ♥♥ is not "daily", and its not even every 24 hours. Its every 24 hours from the point at which you can finally find a request to fill, which can vary widely.

I'm sick of this already, and I'm done with the stupid birdhouse until SC wakes up and either callls this what it is or fixes "daily" to work DAILY. End of rant and end of stupid "feature" as far as I'm concerned.

On the 12:01 thing though, I think since you play at different times to a lot of your NH I think you'd still miss out because they'll probably still just request/donate at the same time as each other, unfortunately when you are not on :(

It only works marginally better for us as we are only two. When the third one popped on to say hi the ither day he (kindly so he thought) donated, but didn't request anything, so I missed out on being able to donate. No big deal occasionally, but if they played the same times when I dudnt, I'd never npbe able to fill a request either. We are all hood friends so we'd set a system up, but it's too complicated if there are too many players or you don't chat outside of the game.

I don't blame you for giving up. Maybe just request wheat whenever you have a free request & fill what you can, if/when you can & don't worry about it until they sort it out - which they will eventually (after much grief, as they did with 'opting out' of the Derby. If they'd listened to players asking for that from the beginning they could have saved an awful, awful lot of hurt & splitting of friends & families).
