Advice needed. How should a neighborhood use the trading?

in our hood, many of us are above level 100 and they dont care what you request. all they want is to help and also to attain the donation achievement. requests get filled within 1 sec and many times we have to fight over it and have to literally keep tapping on the donate button very quickly. some of our members are also very nice. they request for 10 crops so they can help those who are doing the achievement.

overthinking is not fun, and if you have to think about things like that, dont donate and let others do it.

i really get what ur saying here, seems a lot of hood members are using the request as a replacement for tom. i understand, as i get frustrated with the items requested also, as they are always the pillows, blankets, lemon cake, etc. My suggestion would be to not make any rules or say anything also. i was the leading donor till the "greediness" factor came into play and it may affect my so called title that now i donate very little but so be it.

It's really much better to keep things smooth in the hood and spirits up than impletementing new rules, it would be viewed as very harsh. things will even out, those that request the really hard to get items will see their requests filled slowly and things will go back to normal, just an adjustment period.

It might be because the people who request will need 5 "hard-to-make" items within each 8-hour waiting period to request. They might also have wanted to make the most of their request or do not know how to lower the amount of products requested.

:thumbsup: +1. I requested chocolate cakes (x5) and no one tried to fill it because there was not a high enough level player active within the period it was on the board. (My neighborhood is small, so like the town/town tasks, the NH trading seems to not be fully effective)

I try to achieve full activity by setting rules to the in-game neighborhood trading. Donate and request at least one time each per week is all I ask for in my neighborhood, along with a few other unrelated rules.

We had a hoodie request 5 diamond rings back to back to back. Seriously, like 45-50 of them. Now they are on necklaces. I am getting to the point of personal frustration with them on it so I am not filling them even though I have 70-80 of them. I do find a hundred or so at a time but they are requesting them at such a faster rate than I get townies or trucks requesting them and I am over 100 levels above them and play more than they do so I can't see them getting so many orders.

I can see people wanting to sell the donated high-ticket items in order to raise cash to buy a machine.

Also, given that the achievement comes from donations, not requests, that means how hard (and quick) is very dependent on your neighbors. I just ask for 10 crops at a time (sometimes tea leaves, sometimes wheat). Yeah, I have neighbors that want five blankets. I don't donate. The new NH Trading System has changed the dynamics in my hood. While I didn't feel guilty, I felt uncomfortable for not helping my hoodmates to the fullest extent.

Fortunately, I have adopted to the new dynamics after a few days of using the trading post by applying the boat test. I make goods to fill my boats, my hoodmates', followers', and outsiders', so I don't hesitate to fill others' boats if they ask for sugars or diary products.

If boats were to ask for diamond rings, I would ignore the requests as I'm doing now for the few hoodmates who ask for diamond rings. I donated lobster tails, feathers, jams, blankets to them since I would do so for boats. By not donating diamond rings, I'm setting a limit to my generosity and I'm back in my comfort zone. :)

Jmbifly, in answer to your question, I'm using the trading post like I play the boats.

I think it's been revealing, rather than problematic. Some smarter ones get it and as for 10 crop to help their neighbours game the achievement, while others show their focus and thoughts are in a different space by asking for only high end barn things.

The basic dynamic is we all get to make 20 donations a day, but most are online often enough to only request twice, but the achievement rests on number of donations so made. So every day you can create the opportunity for others to donate 6 (tools), 10 (other barn) or 20 (crop) of their 20 possible... I know which neighbour I would prefer, and it's no issue with generosity.

If this feature is to introduce another achievement then SC needs to go back to the drawing board. 10 crops to help each other out to gain an achievement probably wasn't how SC envisioned players to use this NH feature. U request anything of value and players are starting to question the need/motive like the OP, and possibly having hoodies ignoring the requests. Revealing, indeed. Not exactly a happy go lucky feature. Why make things so complicated and potentially cause resentment in NHs? Nice idea but flawed design...needs work.

People can choose to resent anything. It is not a game flaw. I have seen people resent boat requests from strangers they located thru DD. If you do not want to fill request, then don't. The achievement is simply a design feature, no diamonds. It will come. I like the feature as i can get something i need when i am offline. Others use it for different reasons. Whatever. I do not play their game, just play mine.

How did u see people resent boat request from strangers in the DD? How can u even compare not helping a random stranger flagging 10 creams in the DD to ignoring 5 creams in a request box from ur hoody? Not exactly the NH I would like to be in. Apples and oranges.

Feature is flawed. Needs major overhaul.
