Clans manipulating the war system

This needs fixed asap there is clans that is manipulating the war System by putting in ths that has no to little defense but has max troops like a th 11 with no walls and maybe lvl one cannons but have 240 troops max troops with very high lvl Heros now this is not fair play and it's getting worse supercell needs to put a stop to this there is no point to war if theses clans can just do these kinds of things me and the clan all agree that this is cheating !!!! Yea we know supercell you all not see it as cheating but we do now if this is how it's to be then why max out our defense's we can stop and rush our th's to th 11 and just max out our troops and Heros and get much easier bases to hit in war we all would be unstoppable but that does not take skill and that's cheating !!! It's not fair play now is it ?

If all they have is one defence, surely it's easy to beat? Also not a bug.

Also, the game bases clan war matchmaking on a lot more than just amount of defences/level of defences.

This is not a bug or cheating, but a "loophole" with the matchmaking algorithm. You would probably be better off posting in the "Ideas & Features" section potential ways to close this loophole without invalidating those people's accounts overnight....

It's neither a bug nor a problem. Clans that do this are just altering how their weighting is distributed, both offensively and defensively. They still match to clans of an equal weight.

If you want discussion of this then the Clan Wars sub-forum is the correct place, if you wish to propose changes to the game then you should post in the Ideas and Feature Requests sub-forum.

They are not winning each attack from skill but because they have stronger troops and more of them so they are beating bases with pure power from having 240 troops and almost max th 11 Heros and that's the number 14 !!! Hitting our number one max th 9 base they are cowards !!!!!!! There number one is a th9.75 does not have infernos But is max in everything els archer towers cannons wiz towers cc Tesla ect

I don't know if this is bug or cheating, however according to the war rules: "both clans need to have the same amount of members in their clan and be of comparable strength". Now, look to that player: he is tw11 with min defense and strong troops. He was positioned as #13 in the war of 15 - while other clan had tw7 on the position of #13. That player with tw11 cleaned tw9 very easily with his dragons lvl4 ... is that fair? is that comparable strength? Absolutely not!!!
Players with stronger troops have to be positioned properly vs players with comparable strengths.

This is a problem and needs to be addressed

this isn't cheating its strategy bro.....if he has good troops he can murder your base and I assume that his defense is also weak so u can also murder his base......isn't this fair you 3 star his base(due to his low level defence) and he 3 stars you(due to his high lvl troop)

the problem is that he is capable to clean high level base while sitting on position #13 - that's called: not comparable strengths and violates rules of Supercell

No because he has more troops and if like our war he can attack the number one and smash him with all his 240 max troops and Heros as their number one drops down can attacks the smaller bases this is not strategy this is cheating it's not they have skill but just more power like a th 9 hitting a max th 6 drop troops walk away we just talked with the other clan we just went up against in war they said they are taking it to the next lvl all rushed th 11's with no defense or very little with all max troops and Heros like I said this is getting out of hand and something needs to be done before it gets even worse

bingo but it does not violate super cells rules they told me that they are not breaking any rules or they would have done something about it but it is looked down upon that's not how they intended this game is what they just told me and if I had any ideals to let them know but anyways 13 should not be able to three star number one a max th 9 come on all the ones that's defending this saying it's okay they are doing it themselves and they don't want things miss up because they can't play the game like it was intended they have no skill I have seen them attack there is no skill there even their 13 with 240 max troops struggled to three star our max th 9's when we can steamroll max th 9's ourselves as th 9's even down to their th 8's was struggling but because of they sheer power of having us out number from more powerful attacks and them having a max th 10 but with out having infernos and th 10 max xbows but the rest was we lost by one star we almost tied with them if they did not cheat we would have smashed them their is no doubt they even said it themselves they know that's it's wrong they said it we asked why they are doing this they said to win and counter the modders but two wrongs don't make a right now does it NO IT DONT

now if you look we was out numbered and over powered now that's not a fair fight its cheating they have more troops more th9's plus having max th 11 troops with 240 and max troops and a th 10 troops with 240 troops again not fair that's not fair play. that's not skill that's just overpowering they don't care they just want to win this is not a strategy its manipulating the war system to get very easy fights so they will win every time with now sweat that th 10 had max tesla's and traps even their clan castle has 35 troops come one this is not fair play its not a strategy its just down right cheating !!!!!! now we only had three th9's some th8's and th7's now they had one th 10 one th11 4 th9's some th8 like I have said they was much bigger then us out numbered and overpowed

sorry to interrupt your conversation, I hate these bases, I know they're causing mismatches, but sadly I have to say it is not cheating. nobody broke the rules of the game, so it is not cheating. if someone want to gem their base straight up from town hall 1 to 11 in 10 minutes without building any defensive buildings, the game will allow them do to that. i can say queen walk is cheating cause I hate it but it is not cheating. knowing and finding mechanics of the game and how the game works and using them to your advantage is NOT cheating at all. spending hours and hours and doing research to find out war weights, how it works, how matchmaking works and how to use them in your advantage is not cheating, actually the guy who found it for first time is genius IMO.

Sorry it is supercell just did not think that this would happen it is a form of cheating they have a upper hand in war but yes supercell has and i have said if you would take the time and read i have stated that supercell and well as i have said its not cheating in supercells tos and supercell has told me as well as what i have said no its not "cheating" but it is a form of cheating manipulatino loophole what ever you want to call it it is what it is

Our current war, as it seems every other this happens now, has a low defense th8. It has all the bombs, air and ground, spring traps and mines. It also has three Teslas maxed for th8. It sits below a poorly developed th6 that out lowest th5 could easily beat. Funny thing was they were on the bottom side of a lopsided war. First time in like 4 months that were weren't outnumbered in th9 attacks. They had two maxed. We have 3 in various stages. It would be really funny if this was caused by a matching tweak.

Though it's within the game mechanics currently I wouldn't have any issues if it were removed.

OK, it's not cheating, but an unfair war matching. In a case if the war matching algorithm were taking into account both defense and offense powers such mismatches were not happening

It does take both offense and defence into account. Clans are matched as a whole. That TH11 with maxed troops and minimal defence will mean that every other member of their clan will have weaker offence than if the TH11 was not there.

The reason I keep referring discussion of this to the Clan Wars sub-forum is that this has been discussed ad nauseum and it is a waste of everyone's time to keep rehashing the same points.

It's a huge PROBLEMo when CLANSMENo monopolizes the CLNWar system. We need SC Team to act accordingly!

This isnt a bug or a problem, unless a weak base is getting placed high on the map or a good base is getting placed low.

This is how the game is played... I lost 5 wars due to this kind of thing - then we finished our conversion and have now become a clan full of players who play this way...

If you want to win clan wars -- you have to upgrade smarter than the enemy- you have to have stronger offense and better skilled players... If you dont have a million hours to spend researching and figuring out all these little tricks to hyper optomize your base - then expect to loose more wars to the engineered clans.

I myself, running a very highly engineered group of players - expect to loose when we run into another clan that is more engineered than we are... its a fact - it can happen - someone out there must have gone more extreme than we did... its only a matter of time until we get matched up to them.

56 perfect 100% wars in a row later - 50x50 - we are still getting perfect every war... only a few clans have tied us, and only two have engineered better.. (I choose to Gem a couple times so that I wouldn't loose my 100% every war streak).

IF supercell -tried- to stop this - well.. honestly.. they cant... they can modify things a little -like they did recently by increasing some weights of some things for some lower weighted players... but even that will only slow the engineered clans down - it will not stop them. Nothing will stop them...

If everyones war base - was a standard flat everyone has the exact same thing at the exact same levels -- and everyone attacked with the exact same troops at the exact same levels -- then and only then would it be -almost - fair play... but then it would come down to base design and attack skill...

Short of any extreme thing -like that- - which could never happen in this game- players will always find ways to manipulate the game to their advantage... its just playing smart...

I sympathise with your frustration- we were frustrated when loosing to these clans... until we decided to become one... Now we have no problems.

1.) There's an easy way to stop this
2.) This is not cheating
3.) SC will very soon decide if this is destroying the game or not
4.) You have no moral standards. You act like this outside the game. That is the biggest problem. Some players just are not good enough so they use exploits. Some are so eager to win they will use exploit to win. Some are just lazy so will use exploit. And so on...

It's probably getting a little out of hand but clans that prioritized offense over defense have been winning at a high clip since the dawn of clan wars. It's more cheese than cheating.

Personally I think clan wars are only fun if the other clan has a chance at winning. Some engineering is necessary so you have a shot at winning every war your in but having an engineered th11s so you can dragon spam th9s is super cheese. All you really need to do is avoid maxing out th9 defenses with sub 20/20 heroes / throwing infernos when your offense is still th9.

Carrots are against ToS, engineering isn't

I have a defencesless TH10 base.. It sucks in multiplayer trying to save resources.. BUT IT WINS in CLAN WARS by cleaning TH9 bases that our 'equally matched' TH9s couldnt 3 star.

It is a sacrifice troop / base that is common practice.. kamakazi piolets, Suicide bombers, etc. Tactical and efficient. NOT CHEATING - its playing smart.

Easy fix to this is when you unlock a troop for that townhall or max a troop for that townhall you should get a baseline war weight. So if you rush to th10 that's fine but when you unlock a max troop for that level or a new troop for that level your baseline weight should go right above max th9. I don't see how coc thinks it's fair for someone to sit at war weight th4-5-6 and then be able to take out max th9 bases.

I would guess these players are gemming a majority of their offenses so its helping keep the game free for me. I'm a maxer so I have no horse in this race, but its a strategy. If I get rocked by a TH5 weight base then my hat's off to them. Take my lick and move on.

How is strategic development cheating? If you want to win a marathon you would train yourself while maintaining a low weight right? Then some fat slob eating pizza and doughnuts all day comes by thinking he will win. Is it ok for the fat slob to accuse the skinny runner of cheating because he failed prepare himself to win? Strategic development is following the rules of the game and tailoring yourself or your clan to compete to win. The criteria for war MM is posted at the top of this page in a sticky for everyone to read. Plz don't come to the forum to complain if you have failed to read this and explain it to your clan. Engineering is not cheating, it is intelligent, well planned development.

Yup that sticky that I use time and time again in my arguments, yet those clueless always fail without exception to read and understand plain english. I know the mass is dumb but I am astonished about the level of cluelessness that many are displaying about match making basics. The few that go through the trouble to read that sticky either say SC is lying or that the sticky is too old to be still applicable. Go figure that out, and then they come here to complain about mismatches....

Then again, the longer they stay in the dark, the longer my clan can keep winning. And the more those noobs want to engineer their bases, the even easier is for my clan to beat them.

This, this and 100x complete agreement with this. If people are going to argue a point of view, it only becomes a reasonable point worthy of debating when they take the effort to become informed and unignorant.

I have found engineered bases the easiest to beat in wars. It generally goes like this.... Engineered opponent two stars me, i three star them with their lack of defences.

The clan wars faq sticky does contain a section on MM in the lower part of page one. However it does not have the changes to MM resulting from the UD before last. I am going to create a seperate thread requesting that a moderator remedy this.

Not so much violating the rules, but simply using the rules of the match making system to their advantage. There is no requirement that says you must developed defense at the same rate as offense as this is completely your choice. Many clans have figured out that, with the current match making algorithm, offensively heavy bases can benefit your clan in war. That match making algorithm could change at any point.

Who is saying the mirror bases on the war map are 'matched' or even supposed to have the same strength? I don't know where it started but that myth is the whole underlying problem why so many are clueless about MM and complaining about mismatch and engineer bases for no good reasons.

It would be an easy fix if they just made townhalls a baseline war weight. Example max th9 weighs xxxx lets just say 2999... Once your upgrade to th10 the your weight should baseline right above a max th9 at 3000. If if they didn't want to baseline townhall levels they could put a large weight on troop upgrade. Once you upgrade to th10 for example and open a new troop or upgrade a troop to max for th10 you should get a big weight jump.
I agree no base should sit st the bottom of the map next to townhalls 3-4 levels below and be able to reach up and 3 star bases at the top fo the map.

You got it right. There is nothing hidden. How match making works is that simple. Yet people are making more complicated than it should -- how they come up with their own interpretation, I have no freaking clue.

My clans knows a thing or two about match making, and we found out that the MM is exactly how described by SC, which by the way, is as fair as it can be. Not like the dumb solution from the post just above.

Nope the match making puts to much war weight on base defense and not enough on townhall level or troops. Defintely something wrong when you can build 1 cannon and weight the same as a townhall 4-5 but able to 3 star th9-10. That's not fair at all and rewards ppl for taking advantage of the weight system. townhalls should be matched in same position as other townhalls their levels. Let me guess you have engineer base hah

blah blah blah. lemme guess you dont have enought ime to put in the effort to win wars and are porbably a premmie base or dont know or are good at war. engineering is cool and fun, embrace it.

you can...
1) impress your clanmates
2) demoralize the enemy by hitting the top with your bottom player. Heck even the sight of engineered bases makes people cry for their mom and go to general to whine.
3) can war without heroes at the expense of having to hit lower
4) sometimes grants you an extra hit up top
5) in the event of a mismatch up top, an engineered base is always handy

Huh where did you get this silly idea that base with 1 cannon and can hit th9 and th10 bases, is weighted as a th5? Can you show me evidence?

Manipulation weight is a lot harder than most noobs think. They think they know it all by reading inaccurate info from other noobs on this forum.

well sorry guess was wrong lol. Lvl 12 clan with 2 accounts one over 1k war stars and other 950+. I I'm press my clan mates by 3 starring hard bases not by have extra troops, spells and higher lvl troops to 3 star bases a level below

Once I can get a screenshot I would defintely post one for you. Just 4 wars ago #39 th11 which ranked in their th7s war weight had a 3 star on our #6 base which was a almost maxed th9 finishing up his walls to max. So you really think that's fair for a base to rank that low but be able to 3 star that base just because he had the extra spells, troops, and higher lvl troops?

Fair? Who knows...you havent given us enough information but, with the minimal information you provided, a few conclusions can be made. Firstly, your almost maxed TH 9 had two attacks right? Was he able to three star any opponents that were "almost maxed" TH 9's? If the answer was "yes" you werent worse off right? If the answer was "no", then he wasnt good enough to help your clan win, right? So in that case less attacking skill meant you deserved to lose. Simple logic would say so.

Secondly, you made the comparison between their number 39 base with your number 6 base so I am going to play "devil's advocate" and assume that the war mm system matches single base pairs (which it does not). In your example, if the two bases mentioned were matched (without considering the rest of the match information seeing you have chosen bits of info to support your case), surely your almost maxed TH 9 was able to 3 star his "TH 7 weighted" base right? So without considering their second attacks, it was a three star draw.

The biggest problem I have with the war mm system complaint threads is that the complainers never seem to come up with a better way to imorove the war mm system.

The #39 is just that players defensive weight only. The overall weight of that base (and the clan as a whole) is hidden from you.

who said anything about using superior ofense to hit below? if i have the offense to hit my own th (example: max th11 offense), then i will hit that townhall (max th11).

unfortunately i do not have a beautiful engineered th11, only a eng. th9 so i just hit max th9s with it.

No need for screenshot. You are just subscribed to the myth that position of bases on the war map has anything to do with the match making. You are not the only one. Most clashers fell for that myth. The positions are only dictated by the relative defensive strength of each base within one clan. Nothing more. It says nothing about how the bases are matched up with the other clans, or even if it is even relevant in the match making. The minute you throw away that war map is when you will start to understand better how clans are really matched up...and it will be the minute you will stop your inaccurate mismatch complains similar to so many that were being perpetuated on this forum.

Yeah another myth about mirror attacking. Why do you assume people are hitting their opposite base? Mirror attacking is already a dumb strategy to do when one is in a clan full of maxxers, imagine when one is in a clan full of engineered bases...May I suggest that you visit some engineer clans to see how things are being done, instead of regurgitating myths spread out by other clueless on this forum.

See that shows your logic of war strategy is very dumb. Let's see the first point you made. #39 gets 3 star on max th9. Majority of time any th9 has a very very hard chance to 3 star a max th9 unless heroes are very high. So now #6 is cleaned that more than likely would have taken a th10-11 at the 1-4 spot to 3. Now their #6 has an attack left for an easier th9 because #39 was able to attack. Saying its a squash attack a th9 attacking a th7 war weight is very ignorant so I'm not going to even touch that. Listen we win most wars, we are clan lvl 12. If you can't see a war advantage by ppl doing this well you aren't a leader or very good at war. Anytime your matched equally at say 1-20 spot then both clans have 40 attacks that are equal playing field on attacks. Well your throw in 5-10 engineer bases and those bases are able to reach 20 spots up and 3 star because they are th10-11 with extra troops, spells and higher troop level. then that allows your th9s to attack easier bases with a much more percentage to 3. It's amazing you can't see the advantage this. You must not run a clan or wars.

Most of your th11-10 do not get 3 starred if your not facing 3 max heroes. If rushed th10-11 that sit at th5-8 war weight 3 stars the harder th9 bases then your better th9 bases can attack lower th9 bases greater chance to 3 star. Well if you can't see advantage is rushing townhalls to weigh way less than bases you can 3 star I don't know what to tell you. Any person who wars a lot knows the advantage of rush engineer bases in war. Being in a clan lvl 12 does matter since I've been in there since it started. It means I have a lot of experience in war and MM. Way more than you

Never said we had a problem winning. We get a ton of unfair match ups when you look at attack ability of each clan. Just taking th9+ attacks most clans are getting way more attacks at top part of map (the part you win 98%) of the wars. We have a lot of veteran players who are great attackers that out weigh the number of more attacks the opponenst get on your base. Don't see what is so hard to see if clan A has 25 attacks that are 3 star potential on top of map vs 15 attacks which are potential 3 stars of map clsn A has advantage. Not hard to see advantage lol

Listen I could care less about ppl engineer bases we outmatch most of with skill attacks but if you can truly sit here and say it's not a war advantage when a th5-7 war weight can 3 star th9 war weight then you really have no idea how wars work. Anything up to th8 is very easily 3 starred by same level bases. When you get up to th9+ your 3 star chances start going down when facing the same townhall level base. Majority of wars are won th9+. So when you get a significant amount more of attacks from your th9-11 bases its a huge war advantage. I really can't believe ppl would like to,pretend it's not haha. Th10 extra spell, higher troop level and numbers gives a major advantage when attacking th9s So basically you have a junk player sitting at th10 (war weight th7) just blindly 3 starring bases he had no chance if he was th9

Engineering can give an advantage. That advantage is not unfair as the overall match will be equally weighted, it's just the engineered clan have their weight distributed differently. That advantage can be negated by a clan who can hit their own weight successfully.

No, they don't. The position on a !ap only indicates a base's defensive strength relative to their own clan. The map position has absolutely no relation to the opposing clan whatsoever. They still have offensive weight that is also taken into account by the mm algorithm.

Its always an advantage. Alright look at it this way both teams are equally weighed, clan A has 2 th11s, 4 th10s and 10 th9 bases rest th7,8.. Clan B 4th11 (2 engineer), 8 th11 (5 engineer) 15 th9s (5 engineer) rest th7-8. These engineer bases are all low weight (below and between th7-8) but max offensive troops. Clan A has 16 attacks from th9-11... Clan B has 27 attacks from th9-11. So your telling me no advantage in war from Clan B?

Actually it is your logic that is lacking and if you want to continue the debate in a reasonable manner and have your view point taken seriously, don't call another person "dumb".

Do you rely on your TH 10's and 11's to clear TH 9's? You can't be very good at war and sounds like you have been on the advantageous side of the mm to get the clan to level 12 (which by the way can occur from a poor clan just warring with a high number of participants and losing often but getting the XP) oh. and yes, the TH 9 isn't "almost maxed" ( like you said) if they dont have high level heroes. They are a necessary factor in warring well.

Your TH 9 couldn't clear a TH 7 weighted TH 11 is not ignorant. If one of my members couldn't clear that they would be kicked.

And, for your information, i am leader of a clan that has 261 wins, 55 losses and 15 draws. I would be shocked and surprised if your clan had as good, or better, win ratio with the logic you are spouting on here.

That's definitely true but nonetheless the matchmaking heavily favours the side who can field more offense at the higher end, even if that offense is coming from defenseless TH11's sitting at the bottom of the war map. But you knew that already, didn't ya?

the truth is that there is no easy solution for intentional manipulation of war matching system. Every algorithm can be manipulated by clans through engineering the right bases.

There is one reality check solution that supercell can implement to help: for whatever algorithm they use, implement a check in which each th level matches with the same th level. This way, in addition to the algorithm you are using, a th9 will always match a th9, a th8 will always match a th8. Th9.5 will always match th10 which could also be another th9.5 if possible. But at no point a th9.5 will match a th9. If this check is added, then the only thing players can do is max their base: both defenses and troops.

No easy solution? Huh, the solution is already included in the algorithm. Don't complain about an inexistent problem if you don't understand how the match making works.

Can you tell me why you and so many posters on this forum have a fetish with TH level - a building that has no defense or offense power? Now I think about it, why MM is not done through elixir drill levels?

By the way, a TH9.5 is never matched with a TH9.
