The Jester

" Running with red boots , tingling bells on the path, The Jester is hopping at great speeds to riddle up the battlefield. The greatest defenses fear him due to his unique counterattacking of projectiles. But he can't fight back those Zaps and Flames. But that didn't stop him from riddling along.
The Introduction
The Jester is a new troop that is unlocked in the new Dark Barracks Level 8. The Jester is known to attack defenses in battle. He is a ranged troop but he has a very unique strength that no other troop has !
When the Jester is attacked in gameplay , he has a unique strength that enables him to continue fighting.
The Jester might deal some damage of his own, but when he is attacked by a defense he returns the projectiles that are shot at him. Rather he performs a counterattack on the defenses when he is attacked.
This troop is unlocked in The Mighty Dark Barracks Level 9 .
Dark Barracks Level 8 can be unlocked in Town Hall 11/12
His Special Ability - Is it riddles ?
When the cannon fires a cannonball at him, he starts to spin like a tornado from the point where he is standing for 5 seconds and then fires the cannonball back at the cannon !
The Jester however counters the shot by the defense for bonus counter damage ( therefore deals more damage to defense ). He can counter a maximum of 3 projectiles from the defense at a time. If the Jester receives more than 3 projectiles at a time, he will accept only 3 out of them and take the rest as damage!
He also shoots ranged attacks like a Wizard , only when he is countered is when he deals his counterattack.
He shoots powerful energy blasts that attack buildings in his range.
The Jester is best used to do Background damage like Wizards. He works good dealing support damage. But when he is attacked he stops attacking what he currently is and counterattacks on the closest defense that attacked him. He continues to attack that defense until it's destroyed and then proceeds to the closest target. He can only counter defenses but he can't counter Clan Castle Troops.
Weakness of This Troop
The Jester may counter projectiles but he cannot counter AOE ( area of effect ) damage. AOE damage for example is the damage of a Tesla , Inferno Tower or Eagle Artillery. He also does not counter / deflect traps
Various Other Weaknesses -
1) The Hidden Tesla zaps electricity and does not shoot projectiles
2) The Inferno Tower deals constant flame damage at the Jester
3) The Eagle Artillery shoots massive beams which are too large to be countered in the first place.
4) An X-Bow cannot be counterattacked since it deals too many projectiles at once. Therefore only 3 of its projectiles are countered once.
5) In my balance thread, I reduced damage by 23%
6) The Jester does not have a favourite target
7) The Jester does not DEFLECT traps. Therefore he can be tossed by a Spring Trap.
8) He is a weaker wizard
9) I reduced his hitpoints by 22% to make him more vulnerable
10) He cannot counterattack Clan Castle Troops
NOTE - He can fight Clan Castle Troops back, but doesn't counter !
Attacking (Offensive) Strategy
Jesters work really good with the famous GoWiPe strategy where Jesters can deal support damage like Wizards and survive more hits than a Wizard . He can be replaced with atleast 5 of 10 wizards in GoWiPe since the Jester can attack Air troops. He can soon enough finish some background damage and focus on defenses like a pack of wizards and help in taking out the base soon. He also works in the GoWiVa strategy.
His best friend tends to be the Valkyrie since when these two troops are paired up , together they can deal lots of damage.
Defensive Strategies
Jesters work perfect in Clan Castles when attacked by Wizards or Archers since they are ranged fighters and he can tackle them. The Jesters are a bit mediocre in DPS. The Jesters should be backed up with Valkyries, Barbarians, Wizards or PEKKAs. They work best with him in defense ! The Jester cannot counterattack melee fighters since they are not projectiles. A clan castle of Jesters and Valkyries are awesome! Jesters can be swarmed by all directions . Therefore with a valkyrie it is more of a powerful combination. A Lightning Spell is not enough to kill a Jester

4) Counter Damage - 150% ( Level 1 )

6) Favourite Target - Any
7) Type - Ground & Air
8) Training cost - 180 Dark Elixir
9) Movement Speed - 24
10) Housing Space - 8
11) Training Time - 4 minutes (2 minutes when you get 2 Dark Barracks Level 9)
12) Max Number of Shots that can be handled at a time - 3 shots
13) Counter duration - 2 seconds
14) Range - Wizard
The Jester is a ranged fighter , but his counterattacks are as well ranged .
You can have maximum of 34 Jesters ( 30 Jesters in Army and 4 in Clan Castle)
You could carry clone spells to bring more Jesters to riddle the battlefield.
A maximum level clone spell can produce 4 extra Jesters for you.
He can survive hits from a Dragon unlike a Wizard. Since the Dragon breathes fire and attacks slower than The Jester, he can survive few hits and fight back some damage to the Dragon. Like any other troop, the Dragon cannot be countered
The Jester ( Level 1 ) can take 4 hits from a dragon ( level 1)

The Jester at Level 1 can single handedly take out a builder's hut in 8 hits and at maximum level can take out a builder's hut in just 3 shots !
* The cost for level 1 Jester is the cost for unlocking Dark Barracks Level 9
* The duration to unlock level 1 Jester is the time taken to finish upgrading Dark Barracks Level 9
How To Tackle This Troop - ( For defensive bases)
The Jester can be very strong to fight against, so here is a strategy that might benefit you!
Since Dark Barracks Level 8 is unlocked in Town Hall 10 , the Inferno Tower should be placed close to other point defenses, therefore the Jester will lose hit points soon enough.
The Inferno Tower is the Key to your success ! Just place it in such a place that it covers lots of defenses at once. Try setting one tower to Multiple Targets and Set the Other to Single! That can take care of the jesters. Place Spring Traps near point defenses.
X-Bows can wipe out Jesters if they are placed close enough to Inferno Towers. The Towers will drain his Hitpoints soon enough. The Jester works like a pack of wizards that deal lesser damage ,so he is like a simple giant who can be finished soon. Be sure that the base has maximised ranges between defenses. If 3 cannons can all attack at one single point, the Jester is more likely to suffer damage there.
For attackers -
Be sure to carry some freeze spells with you. If the Inferno Tower starts to attack contantly, apply your freeze spell, try ensuring to apply it on powerful ones like 2 Inferno Towers or perhaps an Inferno Tower and Eagle Artillery. It's just how you've done GoWiPe attacks with bonus Jesters .
When those towers are frozen, use your rage spells to finish up as much as you can before the Inferno tower recovers, try to ensure ranged troops like Wizards can soak up some damage on the Inferno Tower to finish it. To distract the Inferno Tower, try using Skeleton Spells. I hope this helps.
Always try to get the Jester inside an opening ( through the walls ) with the Golems/PEKKAs etc...
Some Deadly Combos -
1) Try Jesters and Valkyries to create axe swirls with some joke power reinforcements. When you use Wizards and Valkyries, it's completely the same but better with counterpower. Carry some spells to prove your veteran training. Do not bring in Heal Spells . Since they wont be helpful when fighting Inferno Towers. An Eagle Artillery needs freeze spells to be handled appropriately
2) GoPeJe - Golem , PEKKA and Jesters, cause destruction and within. With mass energy blasts in background. Remember that a Jester is a Wizard with countering. Remember to carry spells like Freeze , Rage and Any desired dark spell. You can't feel the taste of roastin' Infernos.
3) JeWiGi - Jesters and Wizards create concentrated destruction of pure awesomeness . Hang on !
We have a Tank ! The Giant. Lets go operation JeWiGi and destruction is yours. Carry some spells because it ain't that easy with impatient Infernos and Heroic Heros waiting on their tiptoes.

The only troops that ignore clan castle defense troops are troops that have a favorite target. Seems overly complicated. I'd try him out but I dunno. Would have to see the "counter attack" in action to really know.
I'm definitely hoping for more support style troops.
The Jester DOES NOT have a favourite target and if he is attacked by Clan Castle troops, he leaves his current target and focuses on the clan castle troops. Once he is finished defeating them, he continues to attack the nearest target from his current position.
#2 Common Confusion - What does he do when a cannon attacks him and clan castle troops are as well attacking him ?
Clarification - The Jester will counterattack the cannon IF IT ATTACKS him FIRST or vice versa.
This is the answer if any others think the same question

If the projectile deals area damage like a Mortar shell, then cc troops take damage as well. He will attack the defense/cc troop that is closest to him. Once he becomes aware of cc troops like any other troop, he tries to take them down first.
Most importantly, the logic is that which ever attacks him first , the building or cc troop, he will counter the first one. Keep in mind he cannot deflect AOE damage like Tesla Zaps or Inferno Flames or a Dragon's Breath. He also cant deflect melee attackers

Here are some questions most of you will be having which I have tried my best to answer
1) In the Forums, there is another troop named Jester, is this linked ?
A) No, The Jester in forums is a meat shield that throws surprise bombs which has no links to this Jester.
2) Will The Jester get distracted?
A) No. The Jester starts with a fixed target. However he will counterattack the defense that shoots him first!
3) Can the Jester handle a mortar or wizard tower?
A) Yes. The Mortar deals Projectile Shells but he cannot counterattack Wizard Towers since they send Fireballs and not projectiles.
4) Does the Jester only counter?
A) No, The Jester deals melee damage to buildings if he is not attacked.
5) Is this idea ruled out?
A) Many people think of that, but the answer is no. I have browsed the whole of those ruled-out ideas and none of them mention Jester
6) Why does the Jester take 5 seconds to counterattack?
It is because 3 seconds makes it overpowered
7) Why does the Jester not focus on defenses(favourite target) ?
Good question, Attacking defenses is the reason this thread failed and it also makes the Jester a bit more overpowered.
8) The Jester doesn't suit in the Medieval Times or Magical Realms , How is he in gameplay ?

There is one major problem I have with this idea: the troop itself. By this, I mean that the Jester doesn't fit in with the medieval COC theme. He's more like the joker, and people like him don't exactly exist in a time period of magic and medieval stuff.
I do like his mechanics and his stats, but I think you should consider changing his aesthetics entirely so he fits with COC's medieval theme (or CR).

But have you ever thought how a Dragon came into gameplay ? A Dragon is an ancient mythical lizard that breathes fire. Not all dragons were known to have wings either. Dragons were popular in medieval times.
Again, Archery was mastered back in the medieval ages. The French Crossbowmen and Rodeleros are famous medieval archers.
So it doesn't matter about the origin of the troop. Jesters were entertainment in Shakespearean times and also in Late Medieval. So he does fit in Medieval Ages

Co-incidences suggest I used an idea from another game named Plants Vs Zombies 2, but it is false. The Jester Zombie in PVZ2 was a co-incidence since apparently it is known to do exactly the same as mine. Please do not follow this rumour
