Hi everyone, I couldn't find a thread on this exact thing so I hope it hasn't been asked before.
What do you guys think is the best allocation of diamonds towards production queue slots? I know it's good to get lots of dairy and sugar slots, but other than that I don't really know what to choose, or what's worth it.
Right now I just bought the jam production building and I think the next thing I unlock is the Jeweler at lv 38.
There are hundreds of threads about it - unfortunately nothing is easy to find.
There are lots of different opinions, this is mine.
When I could, I got another slot on whichever machine had run out when I came back to the game*. It doesn't matter what you need more of, it won't make anything any faster, the only thing that matters is keeping the machines running.
* obviously being sensible with what I'd loaded the machines with before I left it. For example, the Bakery, if you load bread it'll be empty quickly, if you load BB muffins it won't.
IMO there's absolutely no point in using diamonds to open another slot on the jam machine until all of your other machines are running at 6 hours (or their max).
The grill, bakery, sugar, dairy and loom (for cotton fabric) would be my choices to expand on. Feed mills just because feed takes so little time to make and it sells really fast. That is a great way to use up corn and wheat when you are harvesting looking for expansion items. Jam takes hours to make so is easily loaded up for a day with just two slots or three. Also when you buy smelters, two smelters with two slots each is plenty. I went and bought all the smelters thinking I would need them and it was a waste of coins at that time.
Dairy and Sugar first, they are the highest consumption goods for good produce.
Wouldn't open more than 4 slots on the Jam maker, 4 slots will have it going 24hrs a day.
My philosophy always was to ensure I had enough slots to keep the machine running overnight with the longest taking item in. So basically enough to take it to an 8 hour time duration.
After the dairy and sugar mill have all 9 slots, the next machine I would suggest getting all 9 slots on is the sauce maker because sauces are used to make other products. Its a lot of diamonds but having 6 slots on the net maker is a good idea too. That way you can maker 3 lobster and 3 duck nets over night.
I have all 9 slots on all my machines except for the candle maker, and thTs just because the way I play my game, I need homey more than I need candles.
I like to to be able to load all my machines, do other things, then scoop up the production. I have been able to play lately more in short periods spaced by hours where I cannot check my farm, not for long periods of constant play. So this strategy works for me.
As is always true in Hay Day, there is no RIGHT answer -- only the answer that WORKS BEST FOR YOU and the way you play.
Like Besta said, only 2 or 3 slots on the jam maker is all you need...I only have 2 and I feel very comfortable with that.
She also mentioned not needing to buy all 5 smelters right away and not needing to open up a lot of those slots. I agree. I had 2 smelters with 3 slots each for a long time...2 silver and 1 gold in one, then 2 platinum and 1 gold in the other. When iron and coal were introduced, I bought my third smelter instead of using diamonds to open more slots and have kept just the 2 slots on that smelter, which is used for 1 coal and 1 iron.
I have all 9 slots open on dairy, but only 7 on the sugar and each feed mill, which works well for me as I try to always queue them up before I log off from a bit of farming.
I also only have 2 slots on the candy machine since chocolate takes 20 hours on a fully mastered machine.
The rest of the slots on my machines are varied and so far are working for me.
As you progress in the game, you may find that 3-4 slots on a specific machine may not work well any longer. At that point, open up another slot and see how well it works for you before deciding if you need to open more on that machine, or open them on another machine. IMO, play styles make a big difference in how many slots may need to be open on each machine.
Depends on your play style.
a) Add more slots to machines you use the most.
b) Don't add slots to machines that are 'overfilled'.
*Overfilled means if you play twice a day, don't bother adding 3 or more slots to long machines like Jam Maker or Smelter. They will remain busy with just 2 with morning & night play.
Just an idea, but having a lot of slots can allow you to make room in your barn without selling precious dairy/sugar items. I have a little barn :unsure: and it is quickly full when I have some amount of sugar/cream/cheese or even fish. As I don't want to sell them but need to make room in my little barn, I use the slots to "stock" them.
