Base Designer V1.2

Hello,

Just wanted to share my Base Designer I made in excel.

Features:
--Drag and drop functionality
--Contains all ranges for defensive units (also includes attack range of archers and archer queen)
--Defense range visualization on/off buttons
--Wall counter
--Table of available buildings per Town Hall level

--Corrected number of builder huts
--Corrected size of lab
--Edited the size of all buildings to fit precisely in the correct amount of squares (enable "snap to grid" for easier placement)

Not a problem, I am going to release an updated version either today or tomorrow and I will choose a different host for you.

As far as I know you should be able to use it on a mac. It's an excel document. You can be the one to try it and let me know if it works!

Hi TS, i tried your Base designer V1.0 and i like it :)

very easy to use

Separated the gold and elixir storage/mine/collector myself for easier reference

and made a check box to tell myself how many of each I have used :)

First of all, this is awesome and I'm sure in time it will get even better!

One thing i did notice is that there are 6 builders huts, am i wrong in thinking there are only 5 maximum available in the game?

Just been experimenting and Lab is set to be 3x3 same as Spell Factory but on the game it is 4x4 :)

Excel tip

For those not used to using excel, if you put a "1" in the first cell, then hover your cursor over the lower right corner, there will be a small solid block show there(your cursor will change from a larger solid cross, to a very thin lined cross), you can then drag that and it will duplicate the cell, so you can almost draw walls.
It can do a lot more, so just be careful, if you highlight more than one call, you might get increasing counts or something strange like that, where it tries to go: 1,2,3..., just undo.

Interesting concept, I'm new to the game, and was trying to duplicate something like this in Photoshop. Thanks for your effort.

After you download it, open in the finder, and then use "Open with" -->Numbers....it has worked fine for me

Nice tip MadMikeKhan. It will increase the wall count because I am just using the Sum function to sum all of the numbers in the cell range.

I can empathize with this, I just finished correcting every image to fit perfectly inside the squares because I'm a little OCD about this too and it bothered me. Ill post the updated version either tonight or tomorrow.

This tools works great, I love it :D

Have you considered using conditional formatting to choose wall levels?
I made a few rules where entering the numbers 1 to 10 in a cell changes the color to reflect its level, then instead of using SUM to calculate walls just use COUNT :p

Spell factory is the correct size, 3x3 it was only the Lab that needed changing from 3x3 to 4x4

Check the security level of excel, you may have macros turned off. If you have excel 2007 go to developer -> macro security and select something other than "disable all macros without notification"

This is for Excel 2010, hopefully it is similar to other versions in this regard.

Additionally "snap to grid" will not make it perfectly snap to the cells, there is a hidden grid that is smaller than the cell sizes that the objects snap to, it still makes placement easier though.

This is a good idea and I appreciate the detail with which you presented it, but for simplicity sake I designed the tool assuming everything is at max level. For wall 10 you might want to change the input to 0, since it would be annoying typing 10's in all the spaces and would reduce the speed at which you can create walls. In the future I may find a way to incorporate various levels of objects but at the moment its not a priority. If there are more requests I would be more likely to include this, thanks for the input! :)

I've been pondering building one of these but time hasn't allowed. If there are any web devs out there this could probably be done as an HTML5 Canvas web app. A user would set the TH Level and then be able to place all of the available structures from a side menu.

That way you would have easily shareable layouts. I like this but the share factor isn't there.

Or SC could do a standalone base design app, I'd pay 99¢ for it. ;)

Awesome work

Great layout planner, works verygood i must say. I never even saw there was also a wall counter in the sheet. What i did was is just fill in the layers for walls with different colors for the different wall types. The only problem i had, was the range for the defenses didnt match with the original ones after i replaced them a couple of times. But im pretty impressed with ur work man, keep it up! :D

You cannot replace the original objects in the sheets or even make duplicates of them without manually going in to change the coding for the range indicators to work. I use Invisible ovals which are grouped with the defenses and call them by their exact name. Copying and pasting an object will create new ovals which are not included in the coding.

The code looks like this for making the oval appear:

If you want the range indicators to work you should download the original excel sheet again, or modify the coding to accommodate your new objects. This can be done by going to the Developer Tab > Macros > Edit. Then use the "selection pane" to find the object name.

Bump. Is the OP still here though? When I try to copy and paste buildings, the macros get messed up, resulting on the removation of the ranges of the defenses. Any one knows how?

Yeah same issue for me.

Macro and range of def gets mess up as well..

Learning macro this holiday, wonder if I can fix it myself haha.

This is the designer I like best of all the designers out there, so I was bummed that the new wizard towers, air defense, archer tower, and canon don't have their own range. So went did what the designer said and edited the macro for the copies of those new items.

Now however, can you tell me how to add a new item and it's own range? specifically the inferno tower.
