If Discounted B/D Packages Would You Have Bought?

It would be interesting to know if SC had offered a discount on the Diamond with Deco packages whether they would have made more money.
Obviously players that intended to purchase diamonds in the foreseeable future would be thrilled with the offered deal as the decor are really appealing. However these are players that would have possibly bought anyway. But those of you not buying would you have been tempted to buy or even buy multiple packages if a discount had been offered?

I don't know about a discount, but maybe add the decos one price lower. Like the balloons at the $1.99 level (not the $4.99); the pinatas at the $4.99 amount (not at $9.99); and the bouncy castle at the $24.99 amount (not at the $39.99).

I had to splurge a little for the ones with the balloon and pinata. I think $39.99 (1500 diamonds) is quite alot. I think getting the bouncy castle, $39.99, is just too much for me. 😟😭😭😭

I did not purchase any of the special diamond/birthday deco packages. The discount would have made no difference to me. I have 1.3K diamonds left from my last purchase a while back, so I probably won't need any diamonds for another year, if ever.

I do think it will be interesting to see if people's diamond-purchasing behavior changes after this. For example, will they postpone buying diamonds before special updates/events where similar diamond package-with-bonus offers might be made? Since the people who made equally expensive diamond purchases before the new bonus packages were released were out of luck if they wanted the decor, I don't see anyone who has a "pixel budget" who might want one of those bonus packages spending any money until they are sure that one won't be offered in the near future.

This is further complicated by the charity diamond packages like the WWF panda. Who knows whether that type of event will occur in the future.

i WAS offered a discount for the birthday package, the cheapest one. would have cost $6.99 where im at but there was a 40% off so it was around 4 bucks. didnt make any difference since i was not happy to have to pay for decors using real money. im usually careful with diamonds and im not the type to splurge on decors costing diamonds but this is just over the top for me. i also saw the bouncy castle on my neighbor's farm. it was sooo small and underwhelming, its almost the same size as mrs gnome. needless to say, my neighbor really regretted her 60 bucks purchase as well. i dont blame her.

I still have my special-forum-title diamonds from like 2 years ago plus others I save. I am a diamond cheapskate. LOL. ;) But I would be very tempted to buy them if they were indeed reduced. More tempted than currently actually.

Yes, I would have bought them. I agree that they should have discounted them. :) :thumbsup: Remember when they used to have the special priced diamond package for events? What ever happened to those? I always bought them. Oh well, lots of things have changed....:unsure:

I haven't bought any on principle (see countless threads). In short, I fundamentally disagree with advertising the deco as Birthday Deco to be attained in an unconventional way - understandably leading many to think it was going to be a challenge/rewards etc NOT something you had to spend real money on (please let's not start a debate on that here, plenty of threads for that already).

That point though, was very much compounded by the amount of money you needed to spend to get the deco, which brings up another issue for me. To buy one of each I'd have had to have spent £42. [Yes you get the diamonds, but I don't need (or want) that many diamonds, I only use them for deco, not game play. I already have LOADS left from the WWF fundraising]. Since the BOTBAN fiasco I no longer feel my game & thus diamonds, are 'safe'. Who knows when SC will decide to ban my farm for accidentally buying from a BOT or from trading with one person too often. I'd be upset if it happened, but I'd be really pecked off if I'd just spent a lot of real money on buying diamonds, so I don't. The WWF was different because that was a donation to charity - I was happy to donate the £30 and the diamonds & deco were a bonus.


If they'd had

£1.99 for TWO lots of balloons
£3.99 for the piniata
£7.99 for the bouncy castle
£14.99 for all the above

Then it might not have seemed quite so bad, but honestly, I don't know as I felt it was such a money grabbing exercise for Birthday Deco which I feel is really wrong.

Any other time sure, offer deco as an incentive for people to buy diamonds, I've got no problem with that.

I have truly been on the fence. I did purchase the $4.99 package when the money was being donated to the wildlife foundation but to spend $55 on diamonds/decor knowing the money is just going to SC and likely to encourage what I tend to believe is greed, then I have to consider what the outcome will be. If enough people buy it, that will clearly encourage more of these types of offers and while a good majority of us are adults, there are certainly enough kids playing and I think it's unfair to only offer decor for large sums of money that many can't afford.

For now, I am letting my moral compass guide me and choosing NOT to purchase the decor. Perhaps a discounted rate that seems more feasible therefore equitable would have allowed me to purchase the package. Even if it were 1 item for the first package, 2 items for the third and all 3 items for the top package at a cost of $19.99 then yes, I would have bought them in all likelihood.

Although there is little to no chance that I will ever buy diamonds, I do feel they should have been discounted. A birthday celebration, to me, is an opportunity to thank players not fleece them.

I have around 2000 diamonds, all of them free. I hoard them lol so no I would not have bought them.

I haven't bought diamonds in a while but couldn't resist the balloon deco as if I buy diamonds I only ever buy the small pack. No way would I pay what they ask for the other diamond packages with or without decor! Lol

As I'm absolutely against the new method of spending real money outside the game to get an in-game deco attached to a diamond package, I have to say NO to your question. It wouldn't make a difference to me if there was a discount. It worked well, when we could purchase deco only in-game. I still can't see the big advantage of changing that now - after 4 years.

I think, if it turns out that the prices are too high this time, next time SC will consider lowering the prices. But as long as there are people who feel like "I have to have this deco - no matter what" and are paying for whatever price, SC won't change it back anymore.

I am with the no, it wouldn't have made a difference in my own personal decision crowd. I find the whole thing incredibly tacky on the part of Supercell. It's like they invited us to their birthday party then told us when we got there that we had to buy a party hat and slice of cake to celebrate. What is even more tacky is they didn't have the decency to put this information on the invitation. Had they told people ahead of time by making it a sneak peek and then running this ad in conjunction with the update vs days after when many people had already made diamond purchases to hire Tom or unlock machines, it would have made me slightly less disgusted.

I am additionally disappointed in the fact that there are very likely thousands of players who shelled out at least 17 diamonds for a tea leaf and an onion who never knew they could get a refund. In my opinion, Alfred should have delivered 17 diamonds along with those starts. I also think he should have came by with 5 more when they changed the prize mid event. Not every player reads the forums or social media and all those that don't were left in the dark as to what was going on. There was a time when we would be gifted a diamond or three just for maintenance breaks, long gone are those days. Really ♥♥♥♥♥♥Cell, you need a lesson in proper party etiquette.

I know it's a business and for all who wanted them and got them great : ) just for me I couldn't enjoy looking at them if I now bought them. If that makes sense? As I personally know several who wanted them and couldn't. I just would not pay that amount of money for diamonds in one go let alone deco. Definitely no : )

Most definitely not, I will not be part of anything that would encourage this sort of diamond package. Most certainly not on a birthday.

I barely see any farms with the birthday deco anyway.

A bday promotion to entice me to buy their diamond packages to celebrate their 4 year of existence, due primarily to the loyalty of their fan base for making it the success that it is? No thanks.

If one of the deco gave me the ability to watch movie trailers which spits out diamonds on a daily basis, then maybe...maybe, I'll think about it :smirk:

Ive said very little on this fiasco ( actually just one word if I recall ... Speechless !) ... Enough said .

So my answer to the question is NOOOOOOOOOO.

Ive spent quite a few £££ on HD over the last 4 years & Im actually in need of some more diamonds but on principle will not purchase any .
Before the derby started , I only used to spend diamonds on the decorations and as I'm no longer participating in the derby ( too time consuming ) hopefully my dwindling stash will last a little longer .

I bought them, and if discounted it would have been a bonus and I would have bought some for my baby farm. But honestly it would have been just bringing ahead a future purchase so I'm not sure SC would have made any more money, perhaps they might have accelerated some purchases is all.

I'm in the minority but it doesn't bother me that SC did the promotion this way. Last year there was just a cake. At Christmas there was just a sleigh. All other deco had to be bought in the store, e.g. Mrs Snow, the reindeer, etc, and we didn't get any extra diamonds with those purchases either. The birthday deco will eventually be in the store too.

So I don't see a huge difference between what SC did this year and what they've done every other past holiday, except that this time they bundled the deco with extra diamonds. Those who want the deco in the traditional way, a la the reindeer and Mrs Snow, will likely be able to get them in the store eventually.

I seem to recall a time when Supercell GAVE us diamonds for their birthday. How things have changed. Now the official attitude appears to be "we don't care because some new sucker will play and buy diamonds anyways".

Hey my friend, that's not right. The Christmas deco were also given as PERSONAL GOAL REWARDS.

The Huge Difference is that before diamonds could be saved IN GAME and used. People didn't have to spend real money to buy them - some people just can't afford it & kids like my god daughter are not allowed in game spends (I'm not 'allowed' to buy her them either).

Fair enough if it's random deco, but for their birthday after 'advertising them' with the Global Reward on Greg's farm. People are disapponted how it came about & that it's the Birthday Deco. 'Come to our Birthday Party, but buy your own decorations'. It's just crass.

Yes you're right, I forgot all about that. I did win a tree and the snowman and globe which were great prizes! Had to google the thread to look it up. Only had to buy my Mrs Snow and reindeer.:cool:

Regardless, although it would have been nice to get some deco for prizes here too, I'm still in the not-upset-over-this camp.

There's a special offer up now for a chicken on a balloon deco. Mine is 13.99 for 570 diamonds. I don't think I'll get it though. I tried seeing what it looks like on Greg's farm, but Greg doesn't have it.

I was excited to see there was a special offer on diamonds for the birthday celebration. I thought it would be a discount. I would probably have bought diamonds at a discount, but not to get the decorations. Normally I would have just bought the smallest amount of diamonds even at a discounted price. With the decorations included, I would have had to make a big decision about getting the piñata that might not have gone straight to storage or just spending the smallest amount.

I also hoard diamonds and have around 500. I like to hire Tom (at the small discount) occasionally and still have machines that I would like to expand slots on. I don't like to let my stash get too low.

I probably would have bought the pinata deco package had it been discounted or if they had bundled the decos together. I purchase diamonds once a week or so (I'm addicted to Tom and speeding derby boats, but not insanely like the big spenders), but after the Birthday Thang I have decided not to purchase diamonds anymore, unless there is another event like the WWF pandas.

However, today I noticed that I have an iTunes credit of $11.56 today, so I'm going to get that pinata. Nice timing, Apple. Thanks!

I would buy if I wouldn't lose the pink film tickets....

i just got a similar enticing offer... 4000 diamonds for a major discount! Pictures of balloons, new deco and all.

Just two problems:

1. The package doesn't include the deco clearly shown in the special offer
2. At a price of $84.99 I am not going to jump seeing as I get offers at least every three days for 4000/$69.99

i guess deceptive advertising is the new way now.
