Your thoughts on the new NH Donations

I will hardly use the donation feature. The reasons I don't find it useful are
1. Time restrictions. Why do there have to be restrictions. Can't we decide for ourselves how often we want to give stuff to our Hoosier?
2. Quantity restrictions. We only have one box. I guess a limit of 10 at a time like on the RSS is OK, but especially for produce, one often needs more.
3. Need to request items. I, like others, wanted the RSS to have a special NH box. I decide what I have in excess and put it in the box for my hoodies to retrieve.
4. This is a donation box. Again, the request was for an NH box on the RSS. I don't mind giving away stuff to my hoodies, because I have a lot of coins. I would rather pay even full price to my neighbors that need coins.
5. Can't donate expansion materials. For me this is the greatest reason for having an exclusive place for the NH. I am rarely concerned if a random player buys something I can easily make.
6. Wishes that will probably never come true - include decorations, vouchers, and lures for donations

I selected useless feature as this is my opinion but I have used it... it affects my achievements earned and for that reason only I will use it. Only till the last achievement.

yeah, what you said, trading should be without time restrictions, and or quantity restrictions.

I think this is something new to the game, I am pretty sure Supercell tried it and is collecting responses and feed backs for future modifications. I mean the other new updates this week are stuff that we are familiar how they works already (new crops, new machines, new items, new production tasks), so these can get old right away. I personally like it and use it regularly without speeding up with diamonds, just plainly setting timer for the next request and donation times. Sometimes Tom is overwhelmed with my long grocery list of what item to fetch. Now his burden is easen up a little bit with the Neighborhood Trading feature. I mean 9 lemon cakes, or 9 feta salad, or 9 gnocchis can stay idle and fill up barn and then not used right away. Those stuff then can be asked in the Neighborhood Trading cos we get only 5. And now I can just send Tom for intermediary products like goat cheese, cheese, beeswax, or saws and axes, they can be used right away without overcrowding the barn. We will get used to it :o

I kind of knew that having a cool-down and not allowing to trade upgrade or expansion materials will be seen as a bad thing, but to keep exploits to an absolute minimum in the game, this had to be done. We are still monitoring and let's see what we can do in the future to make it better!

I actually like all the restrictions SC put in for this new feature. If players can donate whatever they want (including EMs), as many as they want, with no time restriction, then I can imagine that DD will be full of items that nobody want and nothing else. As a player who prefers playing solo, I rely on DD much more heavier than my neighborhood. If DD completely dries up, I might just quit the game.

I'm in a 5 person nbh, and most of my nbrs don't play often. It's a pain to actually try meet them when I see them asking for something in chat. The request option is very handy.

It's a good feature in principle. It is so very limited that I don't need it. I understand limitations and why, but they are a bit too strict for the trading to have any practical purpose for my farm (others will be happy I'm sure). I therefore continue to take my chances with the RSS "trading" among my neighbours. Right now I only use the feature for the achievement and that can take as long as it needs to. :-)

I like it. it is simply something else we can do on the farm, check the birdhouse for wishing scrolls :-)
For me the goal with hay day is not leveling up but reaching all awards in my white house, so I am happy to have a new goal to work for.

Out of curiosity, how could someone exploit it if it's kind of how trading happens anyways? I have NH members who are willing to give me expansion items for free. Not trying to cause an argument or anything, just stating the fact the Expansions get passed around freely in NHs

So if a cool-down is necessary, does it have to be so long? The RSS only has a 4 minute cool down and that is for advertising, not for being able to put more items on the stand. And as far as exploiting goes, since it is restricted to the NH, doesn't that prevent exploits?

One part of the NH donation I do like is being able to see what someone needs and fulfill their dreams without using the chat feature. Now your solutions to some of my reasons for not liking to use the feature is to use NH chat! Oh well, I'm sure in time I will find a few good uses for the donation bird house. At least it is cute and not creepy.

As the RSS was never designed or intended for trading (and is an essential feature to get coins, empty your excessive stock etc.) the cool-down for it is way shorter. It is a completely different feature by nature, which you guys have then used as a trading system. :) Exploits can happen within NH's too - think bot networks with only bots inside a NH..

The feature is progressive and most welcome; but indeed on the restrictive side.

I hear Nick saying "That's not how RSS was never designed or intended for trading". But that is life, things often evolve away from it's original intent. Evolution should be embraced.

But are we better off for having it in the game? Absolutely, so can only thank SuperCell for that. I do think it needs to break the shackles a bit though.

So 1st week of using the trade system and here are a couple thoughts. 1) it is new 2) it has a long way to go and many changes in its future 3) it should stay as long as HD know it needs help 4) people are still confused by it as it is a little unclear - only 1/4-1/3 of our group is using it 5) I'm gonna use no matter what as now there are achievements attached to it 6) i dont see any reason the expansion items are not included. if no one wants to give them, they wont. simple. 7) would a trade option be an improvement? who knows?!

Loved it but we cannot request for the next donation when time comes to request, if the previous items donated are still on the stack? Found out during derby break when my barn was full from winning prizes, horse shoe prizes, and townie's gifts. Hopefully the future modification will include the ability to request for the next donation without having to collect previous items donated. Thank you!

Nick have you used this facility? Do you find it useful, just curious.

In a small neighbourhood I find no use for it at all, I don't mind the fact that barn and silo tools aren't allowed and to a certain extent I even understand why it was implemented.

BUT that insanely long wait period genuinely renders this totally useless.

The only real plus I see is for those that usually give items to neighbours for 1 coin now have the added benefit of gaining some experience points, beyond that I don't see the point till that waiting period gets shortened.

My neighbourhood mates and I have a very good working system to avoided being raided when swapping goods or helping each other out. Therefore absolute no benefit to gain from this new function.

In our NH we are using it in different ways.

I am using it for the achievement, so I always ask for soybeans or olives or crops of some kind.

Others in the NH are using it to help with boats that they can't do all in their own.

my daughter is using it to cover for her forgetfulness about fishing and duck feathering.

I think, as always, the graphics are great, that it's really nice to have the NH house/area get a bit of attention & I think the concept is really good.

However, waiting 8 hours between requests renders it pretty much useless.

It's a shame that although it has nothng to do with the Derby, that it's still geared to big NH's. It's not at all useful for a small NH because there's no point in requesting something your neighbour might not be able (or willing) to give you, so you need to sort it in chat first & you can just as easily use the RSS.

We are just using crops to work towards the Achievements.

I really don't like the fact that you can't get the achievement if you play solo. I think any achievement part of it should have been contained in the NH area. HD used to be a game that you could play and achieve everything, however you wanted to, it gets less like that all the time now.

I ask for cakes and they gave me 5. Then I sell cream cakes 5 for 1000+ coins.

Hundreds of times, during our internal tests. ;) Currently my NH is pretty much nonexistent so I haven't really had anyone to trade with. :D If I would, I would most def use it to its max capabilities.

Not sure about smaller NH's, but in bigger ones I have heard that the trading is hot. People really use it, and if they need more, they use the "old-skool" RSS trading (which is a bit more risky).

I am in a family hood & give things to my kids often for 1 coin. But "donate" to a hood full of strangers? Give them items to possibly sell for profit? No thanks. I was in full support of a rss box only visible to hood where we could sell any item for any price. I am less then impressed with this alternative. We are using it now, with assorted veggies, only to reach achievements because we really need a perch on our mailbox & what appears to next be a circle on our outdoor rug rather then a rectangle. lol. Once the final achievement is reached (think I saw arbor somewhere & I kind of do want that, lol) I don't see us using it.

Yeah, me too. It's people with that attitude that makes some of us stick to outr small, close knit, NH's. I'm done with greedy, graspy, selfish people in NH's.

Only those I gave birth to will get my rings and blankets for zero coins, I don't do well in big neighborhoods with strangers, I enjoy giving but too many take advantage of that, my neighbourhood is just family members so we don't have that problem. hhm gave a good tip, thanks. Those stats can be misleading. If a neighbor asks for ten wheat 3x a day, but is unable to donate frequently because of timing (she's not in the game when a lot of requests get posted) then the stats might mischaracterize her as a mooch, when she's anything but.

I love my neighborhood, we are from all over the world, and no one abuses the wish box with asking for golden blankets. I guess it really depends on your fellow farmers.
giving one or two items for free but receiving five free items i need is a good deal for me. I just wish the wait time to be shorter, but one cannot have everything ;-)

My hood may not be typical, but we hit this from the other side. We all ask for barn items mostly, and most of us manage 2 requests a day, round sleep, work, rest of life. And we can each donate 20 in a day... So we're all pouncing on requests immediately, all hoping to donate more for the novelty and the achievement, but no requests available there on the board for doing that.

As I have pointed out earlier, to avoid exploits of the system. Unfortunately there are "players" who could abuse the system if there would be no cool-downs. So to keep the game balance intact, we have cool-downs for donations as well as requests.

I like it, I like, I like it! Nice to not have to do the monotonous, "come on over" or "I can give you two" dialogue. Nice to not have to do the neighbor 'hop' to collect the amount of items one needs. Nice not to have to worry about my donated items being snatched by a stranger. Kinks? Sure, but hopefully they will be ironed out in the near future. Now, about the whole birthday thing...I'll bite my tongue.

I think it's kind of useless, but I will make requests and donations so that myself and my hoodies can earn the achievement. Otherwise, I haven't much use for it.

Good point, poster who pointed out that if it was unlimited, the DD would empty out.

I mostly don't like the titles being in chat. They are distracting and cluttersome.

Some things are ridiculously long wait times. The new jams. Marmalade in particular. Added to the wait time for oranges. It's a week before you have enough to fill a boat order for one type of jam. Goats milk takes an abysmally long time. Every 8 hours asking for ten wheat or rice is a long time. We only use the new request feature to get the achievement in our nh. Tea leaves. How long do they take to grow? 6 1/2 - 7 hours? There went my well planned and well loved growing schedule at my farm. Oh well. Off to stare at the goats. Maybe they will be ready sooner. Who knows.

I earned the generous neighbor achievement, and saw the new patio design fly through my screen, but I can't find it in my storage or anywhere else. Anyone else have this issue?

New patio design is second the first one you get is a perch on top of your birdhouse for the bird.

Or have you already donated 450 items? That's amazing if you have.

For me, I don't use the donation feature often. This is because of

1. I do not have other active neighbors (not just any neighbor) to trade with through the in-game "trading system". (Is SC trying to encourage big neighborhoods this way?)
2. The amount of possible requests and donations should increase as the farm levels increase.
3. Your reasons 1, 5, and 6.

In another thread (more specifically, a thread I replied to in Neighborhood Discussion), I stated that it is easy to achieve, if my neighborhood members know what they are doing. This can isolate the members who do not put at least a fractional share into the NH.

Exploitation concerns, OK sure. However, why does it have a blanket 20 donation limit?

That can very realistically be just two full crop orders. Say 10 Strawberries & 10 Cocoas.

Yet you could complete 4 full finished good orders or 6.67* Tool orders.

Can the system at least have some flexibility to account for this?

Even if it's like
20 crops per day
10 foods per day
6 tools per day

Depending how you look at it, you either get rewarded more for easy crop orders towards your donation achievement. Which is pretty crazy, clearly finished goods & tools are worth more than crops.

Or you get punished by being unable to donate by filling just 2 crop orders.

Good Catch Besta! Thanks, I did receive the perch. But I swear I saw the patio design fly into storage.

I am just glad my donations counted toward the achievement because I never saw any credit given to me on the hood list, even after it updated.

The stats & titles didn't work last week for many hoods, hopefully it'll be fixed for this week. However, those it did work for are annoyed by it appearing in chat, so I'm not that bothered they didn't show up in my NH!

ProAlvi - your NH, your rules. But at some stage you might begin to see a link between the things I've highlighted from your post.

I don't want the kind of turn over you have in your NH. I don't want to struggle to get in/stay in the CL. I don't want to micromanage every aspect of my NH members game.

I don't need to 'think again' thanks, I'm perfectly happy not to use one badly constructed aspect of the game to run my NH.

Hey Nick.

There are no donation restrictions on Clash.
I love donating. And Clash is never a problem for me.

However in HayDay it's annoying since right now I have to wait 7 hours before I can donate next.

And my neighbour is sleeping so he can't even buy from my shop. Personally I think you should be able to donate as often as you would like. I agree there should and is a cooldown for requesting.
