Birthday Deco - Unconventional Way

While I will be purchasing diamonds (my 2 month allotment) and will be getting a bouncy house, that is not the reason I am purchasing them. It is "nice" to get a "gift" with purchase for those who routinely do so. However I see the point of those who do not purchase diamonds. I feel it would/should have also been an option to buy the deco in the store. For example I have 13,812 vouchers just gathering dust. I could have bought deco with them. There are a few things available to buy with vouchers, but been there, done that. That's just a suggestion on my part. Kind of like support suggesting I use Tom to fill boat crates with products from machines that still had over a day before completion. We all have suggestions on what someone else should do.

We were rewarded so to speak if when buying the most expensive package came with: 1 castle, 2 piñatas and 3 balloons! That way, SC still can do business, but players can also enjoy it as well being not only do we get more for our buck, but more people will likely buy the packages!

This is what I thought as well.
But I also wonder if we jumped the gun by just assuming these decos would be offered as threshold prizes in the Birthday Event like they have for other seasonal events.
I don't know if they actually said they would be offered in that manner.

As it is the "Birthday Event" was just another truck event with a chocolate fountain for a prize instead of the usual equally boring 5 diamonds that we often get for global events.

I love a lot of things about Hay Day but for this bouncy castle etc that is available if I purchase these diamonds packages I really couldn't care less. SC is having a birthday. Woop woop. Lousy party though. Farming as usual on my ranch. Chocky fountain stays in storage anyway.

Really? Take a look at each and every update we have done, always including community requested features. Sometimes more, sometimes a bit less. Just check out the Announcement section for our update release-notes and you know what I mean.

It's the same event as we always do. Same with Holidays, same with Halloween.. I don't get what makes this one so vastly more disappointing? Who made any promises of anything else? As I recall, last year players were super happy with the event and the prize.

As you know, we usually never announce any events or specials in advance. Shouldn't be a surprise to anyone. At least long time players.

Not sure if I follow you here - which deco was promoted and where? The chocolate fountain was promoted on Friday when the event started, but unfortunately the icon in the game was wrong, which we fixed. It was an event you guys have seen before during special occasions (Halloween etc). We never made any promises of anything different.

Again, nobody is forced to buy the diamond packages. They are optional. So, calling it "demanding" is a bit out of place.

Nobody is FORCED to buy diamonds, but lots of us love to collect all the special decos, and will use diamonds to get them from the shop. For me, its a timeline of my time spent with HD. The difference here, is that we HAVE to buy a very expensive package to obtain these decorations, rather than saving up and buying a few smaller bags here and there. In the UK, this will cost £42 - a days wages for some people. Maybe this puts some perspective on it.

I fully understand your point, but I just wanted to make sure that everybody understands that nobody is forced to buy any packages. When someone claims such, there's always a risk that it is being taken out of context and we have wrong information spreading around. Just correcting the wording. :)

This is what we considered "promoting": the display at Greg's farm that appeared several days before the party event that showed a number of new "party themed" decorations in addition to the chocolate fountain with 4 candles. As you said, we've seen these events before. We treated what we saw at Greg's as a "sneak peek". We assumed the chocolate fountain would be the global event prize. We guessed about the other items based on past experience, and we guessed wrong. In my opinion, it would have been better to leave the extra party decor out of the display until the unveiling of the unconventional news release.

It was you that said 'people quit games...new ones start playing'. In other words, 'so what if people aren't happy about stuff?!'

How was Halloween the same? There was the Ghost on the Lake, the Personal Goal Rewards were Deco (as they were at Christmas) and there was deco available to all IN GAME.

*same event as we always do*. *no one complained last year* Yes, my point exactly. You dropped events because they were too hard to set targets for and a YEAR ON with the same events, week in - week out, people are bored of them.

You know if you put PARTY DECO on Greg's farm around your Birthday it's as good as a sneak peek. It was being discussed on the forums. Birthday event, birthday party deco, not released into the shop, being told it was going to be available in an unconventional way, it's disingenious to say you didn't promise anything. Sneak peeks don't 'promise' anything, this was no different.

Yes you fixed the reward for the event, but not for 3 days. 3 days of people not knowing if it would be fixed or not, not knowing if the personal goal prizes would be changed to deco or not, not knowing if you'd run the event next week instead or not. Then on top of that having to trash loads of orders because the machines weren't unwrapped for half of the event, let alone putting out anywhere near enough produce to fill the continual orders for new products - so it was either another Trash fest or soend diamonds.

But you're right. No one is forced to spend diamonds and in future it won't be such a giant disappointment to find that there are things that some players can no longer get through 'in game' play - things they were led to believe they would be able to get through in game play. A MAJOR SHIFT which you are glossing over.
