So many people fail to understand players loved what the game was. Players loved been able to add/remove friends on GC, therefore not needing Facebook.

Which gives players.
a) Privacy.
b) Far better control over removing inactive players.
c) Avatars to better identify other players.

Telling players to 'adapt' and lose functions GC offers which is a key part of them enjoying Hay Day, is plain ignorant.

Apparently my remark was not clear. I do understand the convenience of using GC and why people would prefer it. I wasn't suggesting that you adapt, but pointing out that android users are already playing without GC and FB. But only SC know exactly how many of them are out there.

SC is a business and their consideration will be what is the bottom line. If they estimate that adding an alternative to GC will cost more than the revenue they will lose from players who may leave without it - they won't do it. The fact they haven't given this issue much priority suggests to me that A) This is complicated to address and change and B) The potential impact on their revenue is not that significant or not great enough to justify rewriting the entire game .

Here's something wacky SC could consider. Every farmer apparently has a unique farm ID. Create something similar to the way we're currently able to look up an NH with a NH tag# but use our farm ID to add friends that way. The blueprint is already there. Just some extra steps in the code. Add friends in game via farm ID!

Voila!

I think Twitter followers would be a great way to add friends. Facebook is too personal. I think Twitter would be perfect.

Yes. Exactly. I suggested that the "visit" button on the boat leaderboard be extended to all farms and the number of farms we could follow be extended. Then we would only have to have the neighborhood name & voila! Connection made! I also suggested a block button, which would help with some of the stressful situations I've read about on the forum. At least two other people made similar suggestions. Nick's closing response to one of them was "To follow more farms? I don't think it will cut it. It's not adding more "friends" as I see it. Maybe something else. What it could be, no idea yet."

In that time, there have been 1,699 posts. Just 1.65 add me requests per day.

Add me GameCenter thread, first post 11/1/14, today is 15/9/16 - that covers 978 days.

In that time, there have been 9,411 posts. That is a huge 9.62 add me requests per day.

LESS people have the opportunity to use GameCenter, and yet it's interest level is clearly substantially higher.

So many players say Facebook sucks, and those stats very much backup that fact. If SuperCell thinks that is the only way...clearly they don't give a damn about players gaming experiences & privacy. I expect that to hurt their bottom line.

For what it's worth, you could always submit a complaint to apple about the cutting back of GameCenter.

But that aside, I still believe SuperCell should have been working on their own system all along. The vastly increased popularity in GameCenter to me is clear proof it is a far better alternative than Facebook.

Android users also would have benefited more from such a system, may well have got more Android players too who just refuse to play games via Facebook only.

First off, just to be clear, I'd love to see something like GC integrated into the game for all players. So I can imagine how frustrated and disappointed IOS users are at having this taken away for no good reason :(

That said, the post numbers aren't taking into account that many players, myself included, are already not using either option and play with just the 10 followed farms + neighbors. I don't know exactly how many there are but the gamemakers do and their lackadaisical response so far to GC cancellation would indicate that this number is significant.
It would appear that lack of GC is not necessarily a barrier to playing and even among IOS users who are used to having this feature, not all of them will quit, many will adapt their gameplay.

Increasing the number of followable farms would be an improvement over the current situation and probably cheaper and simpler to implement in the short-term than creating a whole new friending system or writing extra code for an app that Apple are end-of-life-ing. I would guess this is the direction SC will take in the short term. In the long term, it would depend how much lifecycle they think this game has left.
