We are a small nh of 9 players with levels ranging from 87 to 46. Town rep levels 30 to 10. I would like to begin placing more emphasis on the town in our nh to possibly help our lower level players advance. I've read others' great suggestions for growing the town, but nothing about rules and etiquette used, if any. Would appreciate any suggestions other nh use to keep things running smoothly.

I think it's too difficult to have rules/etiquette for town.
In an NH of your size I would have a couple of (frequently reminded) requests
- to please chuck your eggspress townies onto the track even if you don't play the town
- to please try not to take from a large group of townies when there are smaller ones available. It's either selfish or thoughtless to take 4/12 when you could take 4/4 leaving the 12 for someone with a larger train capacity. Mostly I think it's just thoughtless. Sometimes it's cherry picking & that's ok too if you have 4 specific spaces to fill.
I guess, more specifically, I want to know about personal train etiquette. We have a couple of higher level players that always fill their max capacity trains with all available town visitors, leaving very few for any other players to pick up. Then, even though they themselves have a platform full of town visitors, none are available for pick up. I understand there are no said "rules", but etiquettly speaking, it just doesn't seem fair to other, lower level players. I would appreciate any ideas/suggestions for what others would do in this situation.

Thanks for these suggestions. Might help remedy our personal train problem.
I always announce in hood chat if I have 10 or more visitors for pick up. Not a rule in our hood, and not everybody announce it, but is a courtesy I do so members whose personal train is maxed to 10 can pick them up, as they do not have to visit every town searching for the max visitors.
We are first-come first served with regard to townies.
The way I do my town is I kick out all my Eggspress train townies and scarf up everybody's available 1-building townies with my maxed personal train. I only work the town during the derby.
I post a peeps on the platform for pick up note in the NH chat too, just to let the town players know I have 14+ on the platform.
I would not see thoughtlessness in scooping up a handful of townies out of a larger cohort waiting at someone else's town. I would see a player picking up available townies for their game.
No matter what your level you can only pick up from one farm at a time. The only advantage some players have (not necessarily higher level, but those who have chosen to upgrade their personal trains) is that their maintenance time is likely to be down to 1.5hrs. You really can't expect them not to send their train out when it's ready, just because other NH members haven't reduced their maintenance time yet. They'll probably be serving all their customers too, hence having fewer for pick ups. They enjoy playing town, you can't really ask them not to because others haven't prioritised expanding in that area.Quote:

Other times I grab the first 10 townies I see from the first farm I go to. I have had townies sniped from under my nose when I indulged in "looking for greener pastures." I was choosing them, when suddenly they went poof as a faster neighbor got them first. So I start at the L end of the "farmers with townies available for pick up" line and at the first to have 10, I get 'em, no matter if that takes all, or some :) The townies are there for anyone, and the game itself will snarf them eventually if I don't, so y'all get on my train. Ha ha
I Think Life is too short (and my brain cells ar too limited) to remember how many seats everybody has in their PT, or/and survey the NH to ask permission before I send my PT over. And since I'm not a mind reader, I don't ascribe negative motives or harmful intent to players who play the game as it was designed (absent evidence).
But it everyone brings their lenses to the game, and everyone has their desires and druthers. There is a NH for everyone's attitudes and internal player-imposed rules. :) That's the beauty of Hay Day.
