I honestly think I could 3* any town hall 9 out there. It would be really interesting if I could enter a single player tournament with town halls on my level. This would be independent of clan wars. I wanna see what th9 attacker think he can get thru my th9 base design!

I do love the idea of a true tournament system in CoC. Whether it be single player, clan based, or both (hoping).
I believe the game does need a fresh update on the scale of Clan Wars if the servers can handle it.
An idea for each tournament match-up could be done using your 3 war base designs that are saved. Each player has a day to attack all 3 bases and the winner is decided by stars or total destruction percentage if stars are a tie.
I just came up with the idea and tbh I am getting giddy about the possibilities!
Oh yea see it would definitely need to be an arena type event. And make it a community type event to whereas all on coc, in the tournament or not, will be able to watch live attacks or replays of tournament match ups until a champion is decided. Imagine the possibilities!!
Not sure I agree with you on everyone on CoC can watch every tournament and every attack. Nobody gives a ♥♥♥♥ about my tournament attack but me and my opponent. You could allow everyone in these small 16-32 player tournaments to watch every attack and scout their next possible opponent but that would be it.
This shouldn't be an idea only for the top players it should be for everyone to enjoy and compete in.
On second thought, I wouldn't want others in the tournament to watch my attacks or see my bases. It should be just you and your current opponent able to watch.
