Friendly Challenges? Why not Friendly Wars?

Supercell seems to be in the mindset of allowing us to freely practice our attacking and base designing skills through the new Friendly Challenges. If we get individual practice attacks, why not whole practice wars?

It doesn't even have to be against another clan. Why not a practice war against computers? Supercell could program the enemy bases, sort of how they do it with the trainers in Clash Royale. The enemy bases would be random base designs like the ones in CoC dev builds. The computer enemies would or would not attack your bases too with generic armies that SC can program for ahead of time.

This could help practice coordination between clan members in wars, and practice usage of clashcaller, skitch, external chat apps, and other types of war coordination.

Friendly Wars would not provide clan XP nor give war loot bonus to anyone.

It is to prevent arranged wars in between elite clans all the time and rather give everybody a chance.
It also includes constant wars between sister clans.

What if the practice wars were against computers?

Nice idea.

First, i don't think Supercell could program the enemy bases to attack our bases. It's probably too complex. So if they can't do that, theres no real point of having a war, in my opinion. I think that a war against a computer would become boring to people.

I think there needs to be some more details on how this works. How are the bases generated? Can you run a real war at the same time? If the computer does attack, when, and how does it decide how to attack?

Clash royale's version of a trainer is good, but the trainer makes very stupid mistakes, and the ai isn't great. Attacking in clash if more complex, since you need to look at the base first.

This thread probably belongs in the Ideas and future requests subform.

Or what if the enemy didn't attack at all? What if they just showed generic war bases for your clan to attack and practice? The main point of these practice wars would be to practice clan coordination.

You could also look at the goblin bases and see their level of ingenuity building them.

I think it might be better if you could pick layouts or make the war bases yourself. So for high-level war clans they could have a few people make a bunch of anti-3 star bases to test or practice on, rather than general bases that they wouldn't care about.

I dispute your assumption.

If SC is of the mindset to allow us to freely practice attacking and base designing, they have failed miserably in the implementation.

The challenger having to remain online and 24 hour cool down have pretty much made the whole system unusable.

Moderators are suggesting to us to leave our clans and venture into global in order to practice our attacks using these Friendlly challenges. To me, this suggests a very large chasm between intention and implementation.

Before we start to consider expanding the functionality, we should first see to it that it is repaired.

This. It would be friendly challenges to a whole new level.

Have something to add on. What if these practice wars could be done at the same time as an actual war? That way people wouldn't have to waste 2 days on a practice war when they could've spun for a matchup.

Could easily be exploited, gives you 2 practice attacks before going in

Couldn't you do that with friendly challenges too?

Just for the record warring against the computer would be the most stupid idea to implement.
If a base is three stars-able then there is an algorithm waiting to be implemented that can achieve it. Every base would be three stared by the computer then.
It's not even like chess since every war would be against an opponent that would achieve perfect war and every war at that.

Friendly Wars between clan mates 10vs10 20vs20 how is it guys? if its be?

The computers could be purposefully programmed to not be the smartest possible, like the trainers in Clash Royale.

I am not sure why u want this implemented? Just to practice using skitch and improve clan coordination u want to include a whole new direction of gameplay? Which will make game more battery consuming, bulky, glitchy and doesnt offer any monetary real benifit to either player or supercell? Why would anybody use this feature?

Can we boot all th th8s out of our pretend war if they dont perform well?

Yes you can boot all the TH8s if you want to. Not sure why you'd do that but it's your clan.

Seems like an...interesting idea.

Though I don't want the bases to be programmed like the CR trainers. The trainers literally don't do anything the entire game, and if Supercell use the same algorithms then all we'll see is rushed or baby bases.

Also, they could add on an entirely different gamemode:
Beat this base without scouting and earn 4 gems daily! Something like that would be fun.

What's so bad about regular wars? I mean, you get xp if you win or lose a real clan war, so what is the point? It would be useless if you ask me.

I want this to be the last time I say this but the TH8s were not kicked for bad war performance. It was part of an effort for my clan to become a more serious war clan.

I'm gonna say it here but don't tell my leader. :smirk: I honestly don't like him that much. He wants our clan to become a better war clan, but he doesn't understand that it takes a long time for that to happen. Today he kicked an elder again for not consistently not using clashcaller. Not sure about the exact story since I wasn't there to see it in person, but perhaps our old leader was better. Our old leader is actually on a six week immersion trip so he'll be back by the end of July.

i don't think it's possible to program AI to attack base in a game like coc. I mean... if it's easy, there would be ton of bots who can do war by itself.

We played with the friendly challenges for a week and simply stopped.

Like children who played with a new toy and left it in the corner of a room....

To do regular wars and on top of that friendly challenges and than friendly wars......get a life...I mean..really..

Personally I want an small clan war inside your clan, like 5v5 or 10v10. I don't really see the point of friendly wars against computer, as that would probably have AI like the trainers (really bad).

Friendly challenge sucks. It was implemented poorly and needs lots of work to make it anything other than a stupid novelty.

FC lasting after log off, insta train armies and logs of defenses are just few necessary features to make it useful for average players.

Friendly wars as you suggest sound like even more garbage.

IMO I'd rather see SC balancing new troops, coming out with new content or creating a new & better mode of play like flash wars or tourneys or whatever.

Not for me. I love the human element. The stupid mistakes, the emotion, the strokes of luck. Playing against Bots on COD is fun for about 5 minutes then you want to hear the guy rage on the mic when you melee him for the 5th time running...Bots don't rage.

If this would going to happen. There will be a lot of changes in the game. But if SC could pull this off. COC will probably make its comeback like a fresh newly addicted game.

When Pulling this Off developers will always considers the Advantages and Disadvantages of making this Happen. Lets take a look of some that will obviously will going to Happen

Advantages
1. Could have Practice Match one of sister clan or any clan of your friends with of course with the same war weights
2. Unique Feature that can get players attetion and maybe bring back players who already quit Clash

Disadvantages
1. If this going to happen, many clans will just go on Finding their friends clan for Match.
2. Clan wars can now be simulated, Snyc.
3. And that, Matchup with Computers. For me it will never going to happen. There will be a lot of Programs on how a AI Chief Attacks in war.

Solutions.

1. There is a cool down to the Friendly clan war.

If you want to pull this Off. Think like a developer.

SC cannot create a program to create well designed and thought out bases ,they can only make things challenging with brute force (adding extra infernos) etc.
