Threads like this one make me personally MAD. You can dislike the game, complain about features, but don't belittle a free gift, especially when you haven't done your homework in calculating the actual cost of this gift.

you don't only get your resources boosted for a small amount, but most of the bases you farm will have more loot, so this is going to end up being a really big gift imo.
Im happy you took the effort to calculate that, but it doesnt work like that unfortunately. If they started selling 8mill gold for 2gems suddenly, it wouldnt make you earn 2492 gems for every 8mill you buy.
It only makes you lose the amount of cash you spend on buying gems, each time.
Its like Emperors New Clothes. You are never getting anything from this game - only paying.
If they gave you 2000gems, you wouldnt be gaining anything, but you wouldnt be paying either.
Though, now you are paying.
Even Darkstryker, or who it was I was debating this with earlier; I checked her base out and she had all her four barracks boosted. So, obviously in this case, as in many others, people spend 5euros to buy gems to get this boost, and are losing real money.
Happy birthday CoC, now take my 5euros.
I dunno, 33,600 Dark elixer for 2 gems seems like a celebration to me.
This is a very helpful update for EVERYONE. 1 gem to boost is basically free boost for 7 whole days, that's going to benefit FARMERS significantly and at the same time CASUAL players. It's a WIN WIN for everyone :)
I think overall it is a good idea. I'm hoping they are keeping track of the stats for this week. If they see the benefit of having more loot in-game perhaps they will increase the production rate permanently.
I don't think they will increase it to this rate permanently, but any increase is desperately needed to make up for the lack of loot at higher town halls.
Your math is wrong. Sure, that is how much you get for the two drills, but you have to subtract the amount you would have received without the boost. So essentially, just divide by 2 and that is how much DE you get for 2 gems.
I would venture to say that farmers are generally considered the casual players :) gemmers (at least the top ones) are the not-so-casual players
