Best time of day to start 50x50 wars? How many clans do 50x50?

I've noticed - starting wars at some times of the day (3pm to midnight eastern time ) will never get a match on 50x50... going on 8 hours now, had 7 hour averages about ten or 15 times... and as high as 11 hour waits from time to time...

a few updates ago -- before they 'fixed' war matching and took away our 45x45 -- we would get a -relatively-fair match within an hour... every time.. it was great...


Now that they have 'fixed' the matching system - its impossible to get a match in any predictable time... really messes with our schedule..




We've started around 11am eastern time this past 5 or so times -- and we get matches in 2 to 4 hours... that time seems to be busier for clans of 50x50... but its just not our ideal time...



Anyone out here have any experience with this?


I've started almost 200 wars since starting this game.. I've tried all kinds of tricks.. restarting the search every X minutes... trying at different times of day.. etc...

The clan that is struggling to get wars matched in decent times -- we have two of them actually...

one has a few max th11's on top - a variety in the middle and about 10 or 15 low weights on bottom...

the other has 5 town hall 8 weighted people, and the other 45 are all town hall 3 to 6. -- you'd think that clan would get matches easier and faster.. but some of its accounts are hybrids.. defenseless - low weight high offense types... I expect that could be part of the issue in finding matches... cause the top accounts in that war - are town hall 10's that mirror up to town hall 8's... I'm guessing the matching system is trying to match town hall to town hall along with weights... and failing to do so.


Any thoughts? opinions? experiences anyone can share?

I'm sick of these long search times...

My 30x30 clan finds a match in 2 hours or less... its also full of hybrids... town hall 8 to 9 weights...

and our 40x40 'normal' clans find wars in 60 to 90 minutes on average (few or no hybrid accounts)

Took us 15 hours to find a match... after that long wait - it was the same type of match we always get... weight to weight a proper match -very comparable between the two of us...

of course; we are hybrids with th9 and 10 attack power.. the enemy's best accounts are mid th8... they are rushed and nooby... easy easy war for us..

But why the 15 hour wait?

Anyone here care to share the average wait times you get? when is the best time to start a search?


it seems that the only time 50x50 wars ever sync up is between 9am and 1pm eastern time.. if you start a search at any other time of day - you will be waiting until the next day between 9 and 1 to get a match...

We usually search between 6PM and 9PM Gmt, 50v50. Usually does not take more than 3 hours. Mostly under one hour.
Our last wars have been at weird hours, but there's no real reason about it. I guess we all forgot to search and the American co was going to eat dinner and he noticed no war was started. Probably somewhere around 5AM Gmt.

Also, not sure if you do, but we dont stop/restart


Edit: yes of course we have engineered villages too, but not so extreme as yours. All our top are normal villages (ranging from mid 10 to low 8). The rest is kinda a mishmash but war matching favors the top anyway (or at least it should)

We do 50 v 50. We run pretty heavy. Top 27 are TH10 or higher.

It doesn't take that long to find a match and it's generally pretty close.

Search started 21h 52min ago and there's 2h 16min of prep day left
So that's 1h 8min of search if my Maths is not mistaken

This is what you get for putting weird clan composition..like a few max TH9 at the top and a bunch of Th6s at the mid and bottom. You are just begging for a mismatch (either favorable or unfavorable). No wonder, you think that every 15 wars, you need to gems in order to avoid losing.

Why are you here trolling? Provide an actual answer - a response to the question at hand -- or keep your opinions to yourself...

What size wars do you run - when do you start them - and how long does it take you to get a match?

Before the update we would always match in 10 to 60 minutes. Post update it's crazy long...

The actual matches we have gotten post update are all pretty much what we expect them to be - based on how we have chosen to engineer our clan... we DO get the matches that we want... almost all the time.-- unless someone engineers better...

before the update we would have 14 good matches that were as expected - then one bad one in the enemy's favor.. and not necessarily due to any engineering.. it was just due to a bad matching system.

The new matching system is working better - its just taking a bit too long sometimes and is un predictable.

The point of this topic is to find out -- just how many clans are actually doing 50x50s... should we start doing 40x40? would that allow us nice fast war search times again?

We have another clan full of the same type of engineered accounts - well 70% are -- and that clan gets matched 30x30 within an hour almost every time.

Can't answer definitively as I never try to war 50v50, but I wouldn't expect many to war at that size. You're looking for an opponent filled to the top (yet nobody's upgrading/on vacation) or one with a feeder that obsessively tops up the main clan to war at 50. Seems that would be a small number searching for war at any given time.

If I remember right you mentioned having a lot of low ths in the roster too, that can definitely lead to a longer search.

It's the engineering, combined with the 50v50. You are really doing everything in your power to prevent an even matchup, so the matching algorithm doesn't want to give you to an opponent even it knows has zero chance against you. On top of that, I'd say it's a relatively rare thing for clans to do 50v50 searches to begin with, so the pool of opponents is small.

It's like the New York Yankees taking on anyone in the middle of Siberia, and then wondering why the league hasn't found them an opponent.

Low THs arent really a problem in big wars. Never seen those Anyone Can Join clans with 40+ players all level under 40 and 0 donations? Yeah they war too :smirk:
Their problem is they have villages with relatively low defense weight and relatively high offense weight (just look at his clan)
And they don't have just one of them, or two. Or three.
When 1/5th of a roster has TH9+ offense but they somehow fall under TH8s in the war map, matchmaking will have a bit of an issue handing that. Moreover if it's a 50v50

@greg - comparing us to the NY yankees.. not sure if thats a compliment... lol But we have seen plenty of other clans - that engineer their accounts the same way - but better... and when we face those clans -- we used to loose; and recently we get 100% to 100% ties... There are quite a few powerfully designed clans out there that can give us a run for our money... Yes we prepare to fight the strongest ones with the best organization and skill... and yes we often find clans that dont know how to engineer -- and we get these easy wars that we cant possibly loose -and they can't possibly win unless they gem...

2 hour search in our 50x clan and 90 minute search in our 40x version - each starting around 1pm eastern time... not awful search times... both wars are - of course - going to be easy as heck for our clan to get 100% on - enemy has very little chance to get more than 95% unless they gem...

We have kind of perfected the 'engineering for a perfect war' kind of thing... been working on it for a few months now... 36 perfect 100%'s in a row...

Next goals -- are faster search times - and no more ties... we've had our win streak reset a few times from perfect to perfect ties in the past 90 days...

I know we are engineered - I'm asking what time of day you other clans doing 50x50 start searches.. and how long does it take?

I believe the issue is more related to a lack of 50x50 clans - and perhaps starting searches at a more active time of day when more of those clans go to battle would help...

I'd love to see some statistics on how many wars of each size are started - and what times of day they are peaking at... some nice charts would be great... anyone ever see such background data?

NG2 did a 50x50 using 30% hybrids (at higher weights between 40 and 80k) and has been finding matches in 2 hours or less. Nightmare is still ranging from 2 to 5 hours... seems 10am to 1pm eastern is the ideal time to start searches; starting after 1pm gets even longer war search times...

Anyone out here care to share their search times and start times?

Just Start Whenever. There Are No Certain Times In Which Everyone Starts 1 War.

I just stick to 40v40 wars still takes an hour with my clan I'd say similarto yours.

50v50 wars. Declaring back to back for months now so with search times changing the War Day constantly we have war'd all around the clock. Absolutely no correlation regards time and ease of war. No correlation between time and location of enemy clans. Search times have varied from literally 1 minute to over 4 hours on one occasion with some cancels and restarts. Yet to see one of the mythical engineered clans and we continue to have a win ratio of around 6:1 and a current win streak of 7. Clan is a complete mix of bases from TH7 to TH11 and we do not profess to be hard core, soft core or any other core we simply knuckle down and do our best. We have yet to see 1 single case of the fabled 'Burner' accounts or Clans either.....it seems we have just clearly been very fortunate.

We have been doing 20v20 wars with a pretty even slope from TH9.5s at the top to a TH3 at the bottom. Ever since the 23 hour prep day update we have started wars around 7:30 pm Eastern. War matches were regularly 20 minutes or less, never more than 40 minutes.


I post this to say that there may be something to this time-of-day question as I am now struggling to get back to 7:30. Let me explain.


The last four wars have taken more than an hour to get a match. Due to some long maintenance breaks and once failing to start a war until we got out of a movie theater our search start time has crept out till after 9:30pm eastern. Now that our matches are taking over an hour wars are ending later and later in the evening. It is possible SC made some adjustments in matchmaking that would cause this, however, it is more likely that it is related to the time of day.


If matches continue to take more than an hour we will just have to wait a day so we can get back to 7:30 start times.


Why 7:30? It works for us, Guilder is a family style clan with adults and kids. 7:30 is not too late for kids to get an attack in as war starts and when the war ends between 6:30 and 7:00 the next day everyone is home from work or school to do any cleanup attacks. Earlier in the day and some can’t make it home, later in the day some attacks don’t happen till the next day.


But I digress, I will let you know if search times improve once we get back to 7:30 but for now I think the time of day can impact how long you have to wait to get a match.

the 7pm eastern time used to be our goal.. was easy to recruit -e veryone was available to play... since searches take so damn long now we have decided instead to start searches almost 10 hours earlier-- hoping that by the 7pm ish time hits we will have a match... sure - the war may have stared hours ago.. but tthen we can at least log in and do our attacks on our own schedule...

really stinks as we managed to get our time down to 29 minutes flat for all 150 stars...


really cant do speed race wars without a more predictable war start time.


I'd love to see supercell allow us to schedule star ttimes...


option 1: -- any start time - match faster cause your not picky

option 2: choose your own start time - will take longer cause you have to match with an option 1 clan.

This would also help arranged matches... say you want to match up -- both choose 7:21pm eastern to start war - line up weights and boom = match found.

We are now on an 80 war perfect streak.. 150 stars every time... Search times continue to be annoyingly long = 12 to 18 hours per search =always resulting in 'perfect weight' matches with enemy clans that are usually all th8 below.. (vs ours with th9/10 and sometimes 11's on top) -- usually if we bring the 11's in the enemy gets a couple weak th9's on top...


Generally our weight manipulation could be adding to the longer search times - but we've made zero changes to our weight or our account composition in the past 80 or so wars... yet search times continue to get worse and worse...

We're the same war clan we were before when we had quick searches (pre update)

Now we've suffered 3 days of failed searches... Its frustrating -- and makes us wonder -


How many clans are doing 50x50?

What is the average Weight and Town hall composition of these clans?

If we knew exactly what the most common size and weight of clan wars was... we could modify our clan weights to match FASTER...

Has anyone seen any statistical data that could help answer such questions?

It's not the Time of day anymore that makes any difference... it has to be the weight and composition... or perhaps there are just ZERO clans doing 50x50 and perhaps this game is dying... maybe we should give up on 50x wars and start doing 40x...



I know 40x at 2.6 million is a 45 minute wait...

40x at 3.8 million is also a 45 minute wait...

we are 50x at 1.1 million == and we cant ever get a decent fast search anymore.. havent been able to get a good search time for the past 70 or so wars...

Is it possible that supercell is trying to match us based on past war history ? I doubt that... we get 150 stars every time.. 80 wars at 100% every war... yet some of our enemies never get better than 40 or 60% total distruction... yes some of our enemies are good.. but most are not... ==so I doubt that past war history has anything to do with it...

I bet its related to over all clan composition and total weight.


Anyone have thoughts?

Does anyone know of ANY 50x war clans -- I'm going to start visiting them and doing weight audits to see exactly what compositin they use.. and how long their searches take...

there HAS to be a sweet spot to get faster matches...


The fact that our clan is highly engineered may = have a small effect on it.. but generally we haev always been this way and havent suffered long searches like this / canceled wars like this as much as we have been lately.. I think 7 times in the past month my clan has had a canceled / time out war search.. and every other search is 12 to 18 hours... its geting worse -- and we havent changed a thing...

still 50x .. still 1.1 million weight... We either need to cut weight lower or grow heavier... easy to do with our accounts in multiple clans...

IN GAME SUPPORT is useless.. they are really useless.. none of them ever answer my questions... never once... lol such a pity...

Why is it so hard to get support from this game?

There really needs to be a paid support button.. I'll pay real cash to talk to a developer and get some real answers...

I have a thought: Why would a legitimate clan want to help you one bit? What you're doing has a whole more to do with math than with clash of clans, assuming that that you were able to get that many perfect wars in a row using only clan engineering tactics. I seem to recall that Mark McGuirre spent a lot of time in his early years talking about taking andro to throw people off the scent of his illegal steroid usage.

1.454 mil was their total weight... a good bit higher than our 1.1 mill They have a max 11 on top - about 10 defenseless and about 5 that are .5 or better on offense... (we have about 20 defenseless, 20 high offense better than .5 and about 10 normal light weight 3/6 people) We dont have access to a max 40/40/20 th11... wish we did.. their clan doesnt get ties like ours does... lol

the heavier we go - the faster our searches are. If we allow 3 to 6 th9s on top we can find a war in a couple hours... if we try to run all th8 below its still impossibly long..

If you go even heavier like predominantly TH10s and TH11s with TH9s at the bottom you should bump into Chinese war farming leagues if you search around their times.

We got a 50x50 with Forum Goat Herd really quick around 6pm the other day.

Wide TH spread, was fairly even. not sure how you get evidence either way that isnt highly anecdotal

I see @G2YJ2JQ9 as a level 5 clan with 26 wins 0 streak -

50% of its members are in high trophy leagues with over 100 exp

20% are low weight new players
30% are mid weightp layers.

Many of their war enemies are non english clans - lots of 50x wars though.
With so many players at town hall 9 to 11 Ii'd wager a guess that your clan is at - or between 3.5 to 4.5 million weight overall.


Our clan is 1.1 million - extremely light weight.

I've observed that heavier clans get matches faster than light weight clans do. Not sure why... perhaps not many light weight war clans exist... perhaps there are a large number of th9+ clans doing 50x.


I'd be willing to help your clan do an audit - but they are fair play -(should know their own weight) and dont engineer - so they are all heavy. the total exact oppsotie of us.. we engineer as much as we can.

We had 2 11, 2 10 w/ IT. 5 or 6 th10 w/o IT. th9 to 36. rest th8 ( i do not know our collective weight we do not usually do 50. any AW is usually 30 or so with TH9 and up , usually lowest base would be 65 or 66 )

They had 3 th11, about the same th10, th9 to 29 maybe.. some 8s, some 7s and some fill.

10-15-20 minutes I believe. Shorter then our normal 30v searches. Nothing like you are describing in hours.

to be fair, the Goat Herd doesn't see outlandish search times like the poster is complaining about because they are a normal clan consisting of normal bases.

Ya, He was asking, I was bored, so I answered. We rarely do 50v and we dont manage/track th8 and lower weight

I do not know if I would say goat herd were normal bases. What is normal? Their bottom 15 were way lighter then us. TH4-TH7

Match was even due to the top 15-20 being on equal terms.

One reason we do not do many 50v is the larger wars seem to bring in worse match ups, ruining it. If someone is getting blown out and has no chance, not sure who that is fun for.

I've noticed -- pretty consitantly -- if we attempt to make a clan war that is 100% th8 below (not allowing a single th9 10 or 11 in the lineup ) we have insane wait times - or no match at all.... This implies that EVERY clan in the game has a 9 10 or 11 on top = at least one... if not more.


NightmareGuild3 for example - can not find a war at 10 15 20 25 or 30 if I try to run it all th7 below -4 separate times I've tried and each time its failed after 24 hours. If I allow 3 or 4 th8's on top - the enemy can now have 1 or 2 rushed 9's and then we can find a war within 90 minutes. If I allow a truly strong 65k th9 on top - then we can get a war pretty fast...

There is a small chance - that our engineered .5 and other high offense accounts could be causing the matchmaking system some problems; but generally even if we use 100% crazy hybrids -- as long as we use HEAVY versions we get fast searches... So I think its less to do with extreme hyper optomization / lopsided bases / engineering and more to do with actual Weight.

I'm guessing that there are ZERO clans doing 50x wars at all th3 to 6 levels -- 6 months ago we allowed some 7's... 3 months back we allowed some weighted at th8 - and in the past few weeks we've used some weighted at max th9 levels. IF we allow the enemy to have 2 o 6 th9's on top we can find a war in 3 hours or less... -- at weight 1.2 mill or higher.

If we try to maintain our 'ideal ' weight of 1.1 million and have ZERO th9's == we cant get a war... at all... or its 12 to 18 hours every search with a failed attempt every ten or so days.


-ALL the clans I've met who have decent - fast - search times are using heavy th9/10 and maybe an 11 or two. I have not yet met any 50x war clans using all th8 below / or th7 below who do 50x war - or who have decent wait times...

@Blombardo: the larger the number of th's, the more complicated the search becomes. You can still find opponents when you engineer around a "typical" roster, but when you have a crazy atypical roster + huge engineering then there are sometimes just no clans that fall into even the widened search parameters for you to match up with. This is where all wars are currently headed fyi. A real war clan will fight you tooth and nail and lose by a few *, or maybe even tie you some times, but many clans just give up after their first foray into 50v50 is an unwinnable snooze fest. It's kind of ironic that, potentially, the biggest reason that you struggle to find matchups is that you've engineered too well.

You make an educated point; but I must mention that there are clans - who are equally engineered if not better than my own - who have heavier accounts (you need big heroes to support heavy accounts; most of our mini' ligh weight accounts are 10/10 or 15/15... you can not have heavy weights and win with those low heroes... ) -- I'm talking clans who have lots of 40/40/20 players and th9 war weights / 70k or so on a lot of them... bringing th9 mirors / maybe a new th10 - but they all hae th11 power...

THOSE clans that are - equally as crazy engineered as mine - get fast wars because they are heavier... I guarantee if I go up to 2 million weight or higher - I will get fast wars... BUT.. our clans accounts can not handle that many heavy bases so we'd loose... lol

We have a general guide... 5 accounts must easily be able to three star enemy #1 every war = or we are getting too heavy. If we have Ten accounts that can handle enemy #1 - we can afford to gain a little weight.

We have gone from 1.1 up to 1.15 and are approaching 1.2 now but our war searches still take too long...

I believe if we go up to 2mill we would get fast wars... or MAYBE if we cut weight and go back down to 50x at 700k we could maybe find faster matches...

If only supercell would share this data with us... then we could make educated decisions on which way to take our clan...


-I can get awful search times with only 10 light weight accounts - that would get th5/6 mirrors but have th10 offense.. supercell will NOT give those 10 players a war... If I add one th9 on top - fast war... there seems to be a fine line that has recently been tweaked behind the scenes to attempt to combat heavily engineered clans -- but in each respect - if you add 60k + accounts on top (at any town hall level) you can get faster searches.
