Free Upgrade Tokens
It would be nice, especially with all the new updates, to have a feature where every so often players receive a free upgrade token, possibly with decreasing frequency as you level your townhall (even stopping completely at th 9/10 or so). While the game demands gemming if you ever want to come close to having a max village + max troops and heroes, it can be very demotivating to spend months at low TH levels where you don't get to experience any type of "engaging" gameplay i.e. your village gets 100%ed almost every time when your shield is down, you're useless in clan wars, and your attacks are limited to mostly barching. With the new updates that just keep adding content, it'd be something to look forward to in the endless clash grind if every month we got a token to upgrade any building or troop of our choice. And yes, I get it - someone is going to say "they're called gems," but personally I've had 5 builders huts since TH3 and when I logged in after the May 2016 update (all of the changes are awesome!) I was demoralized to see just how much more time I was gonna have to spend to catch up on the new stuff that was added (spring trap upgrades at 16+hrs a piece x6) and how much more time I'd spend at TH9 (barracks at 8days a piece x4 which means longer training time to farm for other upgrades etc.).
TL;DR there's too much awesome content in the game that keeps coming out and it shouldn't feel so bittersweet to see it released. If you guys are going to keep adding stuff, please make it a little easier to experience. This idea could really help low level players along to get to where they start experiencing meaningful content, and help players stay motivated. Maybe one token a week at TH2-5, Once every two weeks at TH6-7, one a month at TH8, one every other month at TH9, and no more at TH10. And they don't carry over between THs meaning you cant save them. Obviously I understand there are gems, I've spent my fair share on them, but I don't think this would break supercells bank and in fact might even develop more loyalty to where players are motivated to buy more gems vs. feeling like "it's pointless I'll always just be chasing the carrot anyway."
