Maxing at TH7 on another game....
We've been talking here, and elsewhere, about the benefits of rushing. A few weeks back, "TheKingofGoblins" posted a summary of what it takes to finish each TH since the most recent updates, as well as the cumulative figures. Here's what he posted for TH7:
TH 7 alone: 72,888,800 gold, 33,059,450 elixir, 224.46 days of builder time, 57 days of lab time, 105,000 dark elixir
TH 1-7: 103,109,300 gold, 47,913,200 elixir, 417.65 days of builder time, 84.25 days of lab time, 105,000 dark elixir
Using this, the minimum amount of time to truly max at TH7 would be just about 3 months, assuming you had 4 or 5 builders going from start to finish. Most players are probably going to have to buy at least the third and fourth builder to do this, although you can really maximize gems to get them without investing any real $$$.
That said...I just finished maxing one of my games to TH7; built the last wall today. I've been playing this game SUPER casually - sometimes, I don't get in there for a couple of days, I'm only doing raids a few times a day (2-4 raids each day) when I actually do get in there on it. In fact, I'm really only playing it when I get up in the morning and before I go to bed; the rest of the time, this iPad just sits on the charger (it's an OLD iPad).
It took me 5 months under the new meta to max at TH7. DE is full, regular elixir is very nearly full in spite of the fact I've been doing dragon attacks all day today. Gold, of course, is only a few hundred thousand as I finished off the walls today.
I did NOT rush on this game; I've maxed every TH up the line before starting the upgrade to the next, including all the troops. I haven't decided if I'll push it on past TH7 or just add it to our stable of TH7 clan war accounts
By comparison...my rushed TH7 (Clash Maniac) that this thread is journaling, is about a third of the way through TH7 now at the 35 day mark. I've been much more active on this game, running 3-5 raids each day, kicking in a weekly one hour session of boosted barracks raiding, and investing $50 at the start of the game to clear the first four THs and buy all 5 builders. (The game I maxed, I didn't buy the other builders for a while, ONLY spent money to buy the builders, and I don't know that I EVER boosted the barracks or raided more than once a twice a day on it.)
I bring this up to show a comparison of two very different playing styles. This isn't just max vs rush either; it's casual/max vs aggressive/rush. Whenever we have these discussions about what is the better strategy, I always say it really depends on your style of play. Although it sounds like multiple personalities, I actually do play my different games with different styles of play.
- My main game is hot/cold run - I max on the odd numbered THs (except walls and heroes), and skip the even numbered THs. This is the one I put the most time into and where I focus my attention. It's the game I play for fun and to test various attack strategies.
- My secondary that just hit TH7 was a morning/evening only game that I maxed. It's just been something to do since I had an old tablet.
- My secondary that is the topic of this thread is an aggressively rushed game with semi-casual daily raiding. I'm using this to show how rushing can work when applied properly and although it gets played regularly, it still isn't my main, currently only getting 15-20 minutes each day of my overall gaming time at the moment.
- My TH11 was premie'd to TH11 from having JUST upgraded to TH7 (so, mostly TH6 everything); this was done to gain access to higher level troops as a feeder for my clan's CCs. It has since been in catch up mode (6 months) and has all TH8 defenses and many TH11 max troops.
I also opened up a defenseless game about a week ago that is now 1 week from going to TH7; only $$$ invested there was the initial $20 to buy the other two builders.
Very different games with very different end goals.
