Why do gemmers hate farmers so much and vice versa?

I've noticed that on the forums people who are farmers really dislike gemmers or are at least very negative in their posts about them. This is far better seen in the case of gemmers, especially against free town halls.

My question to those who dislike each other so much is why? You both benefit from each other in some way or the other. And more importantly it's a strategy game, so if they want to try a different strategy than you, why is that so bad? Maybe it's "cheap", but how often will it really affect you negatively? My grandfather used to say that one of the best things about Europe is that because so many cultures are so close, when you go there you learn that there's more than one way to skin a cat, and they're all OK. So why can't we accept this?

I mean this in general,not everyone against everyone. Also by gemmer I mean people who consistently spend money on the game, not once or twice for the builders

I dont know if we hate/dislike each other, i certainly do see a lot of criticism of gemmers, I dont seem much criticism of farmers on these threads as almost everyone is a farmer. I did make a thread recently, that was facetiously asking why people farm but i didnt mean that to be hateful, i think it ended up being a bit of fun.

So it seems like more of a one way street, lots of comments about criticizing people for spending so much money on a game, which i get, but yes, this often comes across very negatively and can make this environment very negative for gemmers (likely why you see so few gemmers post here, trust me they lurk). LOL, if I could post all the hate posts I have received when I have discussed gemming, strategies, etc ... anyway, I agree with you, everyone enjoys this game differently, lets learn to live with those differences!!! it's the 21st century!!!

I dont think gemmers hate farmers in any way, they dont really affect the top trophy levels much yet, until they max their bases and destroy us with their archers/barbs/gobs FYI i would love to see that!!! more people on the top means more trophies for me to try to take!!!!

Im a farmer and i absolutely love gemmers, on a daily basis, im finding really premature town hall 10s with low level walls and some high level defenses, but these bases are usually loaded with dark elixir for one reason or another, last few days ive been netting 20-25k dark elixir daily with barbarian archer army in the 1950-2100 range. Long story short, gemmers usually gem resources since usually they would rather pay money than effort to get the resources, nothing wrong with that, just a form of them paying for entertainment and usually, they buy more resources than they will use in their one session, that is where us farmers come in and thank them.

Allot of farmers feel like gemming is ♥♥♥♥♥ing.

I appreciate what gemmers are doing for the company, and I also appreciate their bringing high levelled play into the game.

It seems that calling a farmer a gemmer is often intended as an insult.

There's nothing wrong with gemming, but seeing bases that have been gemmed with incorrect priorities shows that the player didn't really understand the game, and assumed higher th level is the main point. These are the gemmers we often encounter in farming ranges, so the term is often used to describe noobs that try to buy success.

I think there's also a perception that farming one's base to max is skillful, and the "hard work" involved can be bypassed by gemming. If someone wants to gem and reach the leaderboards, I see no problem with that, as long as they can spare the money.

it's a pity the "gemmers" get a hostile reception here as I'm sure they could add a lot of value to the discussions.

I love gemmers - they pay for this game.

Because they have better bases than me, despite the fact that I am clearly the most skilled player to ever download the game.

I am not sure if it's hate, but definitely not happy or annoyed because there is no way for a farmer to get into the top leader board if you don't gem. Unless he or she settled down and just enjoy to compete with their same level.

I mentioned in the forum before that if there are also other leader boards that doesn't need gems would be great for all. Like wins count leader board, donation leader board, but then they can be gemmed too.

n I think they don't hate gemmers in generally , they will hate if there is a competition against each other , n 1 use gems n others don't use

Nope, i farmed for a long time, am quite good at it, can even farm at 3200 trophies, this is an incorrect statement.

I realized that I would get mostly farmers views on this, but I didn't expect everyone to be a farmer.

I in no way mean that every farmer hates every gemmer or vice versa, but why there was so much hostility towards each other in general.

@test I think you definitely have a point, and I'm sure that the gemmers on the forums keep quite as it's not a very conducive environment to them, which I hope we can settle our issues with them here.

@josue Like I just added, not everyone hates each other, but us taking their resources may be a reason for some of their discontent, but it's a poor reason at best.

@thebrandong Just remember that gemmers also sometimes see the free town hall as ♥♥♥♥♥ing too :p.

im a farmer who gems. I wont gem resources or upgrades so I have to farm them. But I will gem troops, and love doing back to back to back attacks using gemmed armies....

anyways i dont hate anyone...even the guy who is able to 3 star me....or the guy i destroy...i love all my fellow clashers...some people are just haters tho...

I am just not happy with the game system, but that was long time ago. I settled down and just enjoy what level I am now. And I can't really think of a leader board now that can't be gemmed.

Farmers have to earn everything whilst the gemmers credit card everything. What we work so hard for they get so easily. Btw I've never heared of a gemmer hating on a farmer.

because the farmers are jealous that the gemmers get a shortcut to success, whereas they have to painstakingly search for abandoned bases over and over just to be a fraction of the gemmers power

Just something I've noticed that you love the roll eyes emoticon :p lol.

I think for the most part they don't hate each other, especially because a huge amount of players fall into both categories. You can spend hundreds of dollars on gems and still need to farm hundreds of millions of gold to have a good base. I've spent like $170 on this game and still consider myself a farmer, I need the gems to keep builders free to dump gold and keep farming :)

Nope they don't earn there money. I can almost guarantee that someone who's earning an average wage will NEVER spend over £2000 on this game. Look at Kemal for example not trying to hate on him or anything but people like him don't earn a penny, they are born in a super rich family and can spend 1000's in a game like CoC that's all there is to it.

So I don't think gemmers are winners in RL.

I think this thread needs to be closed. Otherwise, we will be in for some flamming very very soon. Past experience show that the forums are not mature enuf for threads like this.

Also, i feel it's not good to create flame-baiting threads like this one based on one person's observation. The OP might not have intended to bait any flames, but it is what it is.

Gemmer has become a dirty word which sort of bums me out. I might spend 50 bucks a month. Maybe. When my life circumstances changed I couldn't go out as much. I spend far less playing this game than I did playing cards in a bar on a Friday night:cool: Makers ain't cheap...heh..

I farm my resources and gem to shorten build times when, and only when, I need to free a builder. And only with gold...my E storages are perpetually full like mot farmers. So...I hate no one. Yep...kudos to those playing the game totally free but I don't get the animosity. I've chatted with the hardcore gemmers spending hundreds to gem army and spell completion but who am I to judge?

And economically? If no one gemmed ever? Wouldn't updates, forums and game support just fade? Wouldn't that make this game a failure?

I'll try fairly hard to push people that are getting to aggressive away or to calm down.

I am fully aware that this can bring up flaming so I'm watching it very carefully, so I don't think it needs to be closed while I'm awake.

The intent of the thread is for people to voice they're reasons for their flaming, and either by seeing themselves that it isn't a good reason, or by having other people explain the other side. It's not just an observation that I have made (and many others)that I didn't realize could potentially have flaming(baiting would be on purpose[you don't accidentally bait a fishing hook]so I don't know if you're insinuating that I am trying to encourage that or if you actually think that I didn't know, but I'll go with the latter and keep an optimistic view).

Wherever they get their money or richness from is none of our concern. They have money to spend and they spend it. Same as Hardcore farmers choose to spend their time grinding all day and that's none of other's concern. It's not even about gemmers wins in life in the first place, it's about what you choose to do with your time/life. :rolleyes:

I've spent £2000 on the game. Brought up on a council estate and started a business with £40 (the cost of a cheap PC which I rented out) 13 years ago as nobody thought I was credit worthy. Took me 3 years to become financially stable and longer than that before I was happy enough to spend on luxuries. Your logic is flawed and your attitude needs adjusting. It's a game, enjoy it as you please and let others enjoy it as they please.

Tldr I don't dislike farmers or gemmers that spend more than me. I find it hard to dislike anything binary and online...but some binary pushes it a bit ;)

I would think that you are not purposely trying to attract flames.

However, once a flame war starts, your status as the OP doesn't give u any power to stop it and it will just rot from there. So keeping an eye on things doesn't really help prevent any flaming.

The only problem I have is with those that gem their way to the top and think they have skill deploying 10 drags, some spells and their heroes at the end :|. If you want to know what's real skill, look up the StarCraft pro leagues lol.

Why do people think that gemming is even referred to buying builders huts? The term "gemming" means using gems to speed up upgrade times, and buy resources. Not spending gems on builders huts.

I was trying to point out to you that your assumption that gemmers are born with a silver spoon in their mouth is wrong. I get the feeling that you've pretty much got your mind made up either way. these two types of play style are both unique and for some reason throw players into categories they may or may not want to be entitled as. I think most of us here ( well me at least) would LOVE to gem the living hell out of this game if we had the money to do so. I simply farm because I live on my own and have a horrible sense of income simple as that. Heck if that classifies me as a farmer, then i guess it is my title

I have zero issue with gemmers whatsoever it is thanks to those bottomless pockets that we are able to own witches in the next 7 days. Enough with this "hate" on either side we are all here for a reason. That reason is to clash............clash clans...............which has yet to be added. but hey thats why we are here lol.

I'm from the UK. Now your talking about America and its gotten me even more lost. Also I never said gemmers are born with everything. I said people who spend over £2000 on a game.

Beautiful, as I said in another post this is really supposed be a thread where people see that their hate is really unjustified, so they shouldn't do it.

It seems so strange to me that this is even an issue. Whether someone never spends a dime on this game or chooses to spend their money on it...neither one is better than the other. It's just a different choice. So when these words are thrown around as insults...it seems that those people that use them think they are better than the other side...whichever side that may be. But by what reasoning would that be possible? How you choose to play a game does not define who you are as a person.

He wasn't calling you ignorant. Anyways the point of the whole thread is that I can't find a single reason that holds up to scrutiny as to why anyone should hate anyone over they're style of playing the game that's it. If the thread is closed on this post I'd be glad.

In all fairness, I have never seen any gemmer talks bad about farmers. Love is awesome. :rolleyes:

Without gems there would be no game forums or updates.

Some games I like the challenge of playing without enhancement (candy crush) because one its a challenge and two its just a copy of existing games so i don't feel bad about it.
CoC imho is what all of us that used to play games like age of empires have been looking for on our mobile devices. How could I not by some builders and through some well deserved cash their way. You won't see me dropping thousands or even hundreds but i used to spend $60 on crappy ea sports Xbox games. I haven hit that much yet here but if I do it will be a much better use of my money.

Like a lot of people said before, its just two ways of playing the game. When you start the game, you would think climbing the trophy charts is the objective, but as you play it more and more, some realize the journey is just as much fun so they stick it out timewise. People who gem do not like the waiting and spend real money. People who farm spend eons of time doing painstaking researches and skipping bases. One category spends money; the other time. Just depends on what is more valuable to you.

Remember that those who gem cannot spend the gems to win battles. When they are at high trophy counts, they have to actually win their battles against tough bases and defences to remain at those levels - you cannot say there isn't skill in that. These folks cannot rely on defence wins to climb the leaderboards.

Oh and by the way, this game isn't a card or board game - we ALL are playing it on iPhones and/or iPads which aren't exactly cheap (in any country). We ALL made an investment with real money to get the device - those who gem are making a further investment for their entertainment.

Let me conclude by saying I'm a happy farmer - only used gems to buy builders and sometime speed up upgrades by 1-2 hours so I can keep the builder busy when I'm gonna sleep. Respect for all!

2) that we either knowingly or not are jelly of the gemers. They have the best toys and we don't, when we (looking at stereo typical top players) have more skill.
And lastly the elite farmers. I think the main for reason elite farmers dislike gemers, ESPECIALLY the folks from ex, is because there is an anti gemer, if you gem you suck at CoC and the kind with the k on the end atmosphere, so again i think it come back to gemers getting all the fans, twitter accounts, and toys like witches and level 40 heroes, while the high level farmers who "obviously" have more skill are grinding out level 10 walls with boring farming armys.

I expect to be jumped on with a lot of "im not jelly your jelly! Blah blah blah" but frankly if your jealous, you don't know it because its sub that word that i cannot spell for the life of me that means perceiving stuff. Hell, im prolly a tad bit jealous and i don't even know it.

Ah AoE, my first ever PC game. I have all of them including the expansion packs for online. This is indeed a great mobile version almost. Yep, I spent on that too, but I like the game and it was worth every penny ;)

Gemmers have to earn the money to pay for the credit card. What the gemmers have to work so hard for, the farmers get so easily, all the farmers have to do is sit in front of an ipad playing and enjoying a game, whilst the gemmer has to face the realities of life to make a living, and use the excess for some enjoyment in a game.

Of course there are exceptions to this. Just saying..things look different from other perspective.

I'm a semi-farmer I guess, cos I did buy some gems for my builders. So don't go hating on me :D

You will never know if you have more skill than the top gemmers unless you play against them. Getting there requires skill, feel free to prove your first two highlighted points as fact.

Usually the hate that I am talking about is from premies getting mad about free town halls. There was a thread that I thoroughly remember, but can't find that was the reason for writing this thread.
