Hi all!
Thinking about a new troop: A dark mosquito? (Could be a bee as well. Whatever sounds best?)
The troop could be a "flying goblin", but made in dark barracks, and filling up more housing spaces. It would primarily go for dark elixer (pumps/storage/townhall), but for balancing it must probably be a bit slower than the goblins?
What do you think?

I could imagine something like this:
Basics would be:
Speed Housing sp. Training time 16 5 8
The troop would be available from TH9 - as there currently are 2 DE pumps allready from TH8, and therefore genuine Dark-farming could start with this troop from TH9/ Dark barrack 5
Damage is double on dark buildings (storage/pumps - and maybe also TH(?))
Upgrade differences could be:

The maths i made in this table is as:
- A level 5 will suck a maxed storage empty in 20 sec. (2 in 10 sec etc.)
- It would sustain fire from a maxed archers tower in just over 5 seconds, and survive up to 2 shots from an airdefence.
- The speed is as a barbarian. This puts it between the lava hound and the balloon when attacking from above.
Design could be some sort of mosquito (evil looking - with red eyes and stuff), but unfortunately i'm an absolute nobody in graphic design :unsure:
Is that possible? I dont see any concerns as to game balancing?

I'm sure you could ask Stevo(Content Creator) to make you a sweet design like he did with my idea.
I like the idea of an air troop that targets resources, but no one had any good concepts. I think a Mosquito could be a decent candidate.
As for DPS and speed, make sure you compare to other troops carefully. I see you made DPS go up ten in a pattern, check out how much a goblin does and compare his speed, DPS, and housing space to the Mosquito. Since this troop has more housing space than a goblin, I think it would work out if it keeps the slower speed. With the advantage of being in the air, I suggest keeping the HP high.
With a higher housing space than a Goblin, I think it would be okay to make it dish out more damage. A maxed goblin will deal 104 to a resource structure. Regular damage is 52. Depending on how many levels you plan to have with this troop, it should be fine to let it deal at least 10-20 more DPS.
Air troops deserve to have the reputation as 'strong', it would be fine to let it deal more damage than a regular Goblin. The only thing that would cost them would be the extra housing space and less speed.
I can make you a list of balanced DPS, HP and scenarios for your troop if you'll allow me, as it's up to you.
An idea like this would be new:
Pros: Air troop, Targets resources, More HP(Expected to have to handle Air Defenses and/or Air Bombs or mines, More DPS(May be taken down quickly without other tanks or distractions and will need an extra boost).
Cons: Less speed than a Goblin(Only necessary, can't have it outrun tanks easily and it's inevitable to be hit hard as an air troop anyway), More housing space than a Goblin(Will not be dealing with ground defenses, and higher HS units are likely to have more HP, and may not work well with ground based attacks.
Overall, I feel an idea like this is a bit overdue, as some early TH10's-11's may have a hard time getting loot. Not will it only help Higher TH's, but will also be viable at lower TH's.
The only thing I have to criticise about your thinking is that this troop being available at TH9. This may be the only thing that you won't see, as there are already 2 troops to get at TH9. I can only assume you're a TH9, as you want it there specifically. :smirk:

First: The housing spaces:
To balance it could fill up less spaces, but i sort of figured, that it should take up a bit more space than the minion. I don't know excatly why i feel so, but i recon that it's a way of creating a whole new kind of troop, and not something that is only a slight variant of something allready made (?)
I imagine that it would be ok to make it "smaller", but i figured that if you attack with - say 10 mosquitos - they would empty a maxed dark storage in 2 seconds. That kind of damage calls for a substantial amount of housing spaces... or?
TH9 - yes or no?
It's been some time since i had the trouble of getting dark while beeing TH9. But i remember the difficulties in collecting enough dark to get a decent AQ upgraded.
I do have a TH9 (actually it's my daughters base), and there i seem to find bases containing 1000-3000 dark at the max possible loot. With the suggested price and spacings, one would have balance with 10 mosquitos gathering 700 dark (+ bonus).
But i'm in no way "stuck" to the possibility of starting at TH9, and the point that you allready get numerous troops at TH9 (games legacy) is well made.
Should it be a TH10 troop? I think that might be the thing!
Also: If we adjust the HP upwards, an attack should aim to deal with the infernos first, before launching moquitos, as they would fall for the combination of AT, AD and inferno fire within 2-3 seconds. (In the latest update TH10's mostly meets TH10's and so you wouldn't throw the game off balance).
The speed and the DPS
Very fair point!
I think the goblins have a huge disadvantage in their way of dealing with walls. This brings their relative speed up when plundering around outside bases og in the square bases with open centers. But when they have to scale walls, they get stuck for enough time to get blasted by mortars and wizards towers.
With a speed of roughly the same as a barbarian (16) a horde of mosquitos would make it to the center of the base in 4-5 seconds. (But with a haste spell... Geez - i dont know?). But yeah! They could be faster!
If we turned up for the speed a little, and turned up the DPS (Steps of +15%/level as many other troops) - ending at 120 (240) - should it then be a bit more expensive or maybe even at bit bigger in housing? Could be resonable.
Do you have a contact with Steve (The designer) or is it ok just to find him here and writing to him? I don't know the protocol in here :)

And oh...
Would it be an idea, that it targeted heroes in defence? And that it sucked a minor amount of DE from the heroes while defending - going into the treasury? :smirk:
What I can do for you is make you balanced stats. I'm very knowledgeable of this game, and I know exactly how I could make stats look and feel with other troop compositions.Quote:
