Interesting idea, but how would that work?
If no resources or trophies are gained from the battle, would people be willing to train up an army just for a friendly battle?
This is something I've been thinking about too as a possible game feature. Here's my idea of how it could work.
I will call it an 'Internal Clan War' (I will use ICW for short) so basically is a war between all members in your clan. Each ICW would last for 1 week and every clans war reset at the same time. I think it lasting a week or even possible more would stop people using this to copy bases from clan wars and practising on them.
At the start you select your war base as like in normal wars (obviously traps would not be visible to others). As for cc troops I would suggest that you can select your own to the max level your clan can donate. So if your clan can donate max drags you can choose a max drag for your cc, if your clan can only donate lv4 that's the level that you will get. This way nobody else knows what's in your cc and seems fair.
Now for the war part. I think each player would have say, 5 ( or maybe 10!) attacks each. A winning attack would gain you points and everyone would be in a mini league table for the ICW. Now to keep things fair between the high and low town hall levels I would have the points system based on how hard the base your attacking is. So if your a th10 and decided to go for easy attacks and smash your th7 buddies you would only get 1 point for 3 starring them. But as a th10 if you decided to hit a th11 and 3 star you would get significantly more points, less points if you 2 starred and less again for 1 star. This would mean you could finish the war at the top even as a lower town hall as the points awarded are based on the the defensive strength of the bases you attacked.
I think this would encourage people to try hitting the higher bases for more points, but not too high so as to fail and get nothing.
NO replays would be available during the war except to the person who's base was attacked. This will stop others knowing about the traps and cc troops. Replays could possibly be available to view for a short period once the war has ended.
Troops costs for the ICW would be refunded so people are not losing out on resources and more loot can be given out as prizes (say 1million gold/elix and 5k DE for finishing top as an example) and decreasing as you finish lower down. This will also generate more loot in the game overall, albeit a fairly small amount.
I'm sure there are flaws to this and it might be to big to even implement but I think it would be a nice addition to the game, keeping people playing longer, getting more attacks in and helping the social aspect of the game too.
Please don't scald me too hard if you don't like the idea, as it will likely never happen anyway!
