Everyone has a different opinion of "toxic". What I find a good post, someone else uses the toxic word on. it seems if you disagree with a point, all the people here have to do is throw the "toxic" word around. It's the new coc PC word.
A certain moderator has been doing just that. Too bad that it will only be fan boy hour here, as it seems if this moderator doesn't like it , it is closed, even if the points are valid.
no one has to come to the forums, just as they don't have to play coc.
if you don't like a thread title, don't read it. Personal attacks should be the only thing called "toxic"
I'm relatively new to the forums but Holps posts were so unique I always looked forward to reading them. I genuinely hope this isn't the last time my eyes light up seeing Holps' name on this forum. Even with my forum noob status I recognized he is a treasure.
At first I found the numerous complaint threads informative and interesting. After a few weeks of it I got tired of it and found myself more and more in subforums like Clan Talk and Base design and Off Topic of course. I saw certain titles and just avoided them.
I also thought that forum veterans were unfair to complaints, why shouldn't people come here and air out their issues with the game, that's one of the reason why it exists. I've done a complete turnaround on this. I've only been here a short while and tired of the complaints and flaming back and forth already. Mostly because it's the same complaints over and over again. I joined these forums in the hopes of finding like minded people who love Clash like I do.
One BIG thing I noticed is the way some forum veterans post, what they say and how they say it, try to be informative and humorous. Noobs like me look to forum veterans to take our cue from.
Holps, if you leave these forums for good that's one less stellar light newcomers like me can learn from on how to behave in these forums.
Please don't stay away too long Holps. I've noticed less complaint threads recently. Have also noticed more Trainees and New Guys and Kitty's posting regular stuff instead of vitriol. I think these forums are slowly getting better, certainly compared to what it was like when I joined just a few weeks ago. Or maybe it's because I'm just skipping the obvious complaint ones.
We we need forum veterans to share their views and show the way. I for one have learned from reading forum veterans posts.
Fully agree with u bro it's sad to see the greats go away especially someone like holps his posts are extremely.......unique in a good sense .even his rants are level minded unlike some who just keep complaining about every tiny issue without thinking otherwise. to holps if u read this plz return sometime in the future perhaps when the forums get better.we need ur experience and insight. sure to miss u and ur amazing posts.:(
Holps witty banter will surely be missed but I can't say that I blame him. I've been around the forums since near the beginning in one way or another. For a long time I just lurked picking out the info I needed while occasionally reading the bits of Jerry Springer drama. Holps has an excellent point that the forums are what we make them, but as this is the internet we are all smart enough to know how it will always end up. One needs not look further than Microsoft's teenager AI debacle last week to realise this.
One point I'd like to bring up is that forum is incredibly 'clique' orientated when it comes to many members. One does not need to read many main posts on general or a few other boards to see who is sticking up for who and who belongs to which clique. This is normal human behaviour of course but what always bothers/ed me is that many long term forumers get away with way too much. It is OK for them to call everyone else whiners, complainers, toxic or worse and get away with it, but when other folks do the same there are infractions handed out or threads shut down. This has never sat right with me just because some folks aren't in the 'it' crowd. Say what you want, but there is a lot of favouritism on SC forums.
Besides that the best we can do is ignore the threads that don't concern or interest us individually and be as informative as we can on the others. I for one get bothered more by the zillions of posts that are nothing more "10 char" posts to boost the count like it means something. Again though, I just ignore them for the most part.
Be well Holps and I hope to see your Blue Curacao bowler CoCtail in a bar one day down the road!
This is true, there are clearly two parties at work. The whole point of a forum, which is discussion is gone out of the window when people just blindly follow anything and comment in such ways. The 'it' crowd will blatantly support every feature even if it is dumb as hell. Because of this the anti crowd will blindly flame.
Favouritism does exist which obviously is a major part of the toxicity in the forums. What the forum is today is not the members fault as the title suggests
