Fix my dock or open mine

I'm fairly new to HD, so which is better:

fix my dock to start boat orders or
open the mine

I'd definitely say the dock :) you'll benefit much more from the boat orders in my opinion.

I concur.

You get your dock repaired and you can start filling boat orders right away.

But, if you get the mine, then you have to get a smelter, and then you have to make Silver, Gold and Platinum Bars... all which take FOREVER to make... 8 hrs / 12 hrs / 16 hrs

Yes, definitely get your dock repaired.

Matter of fact, I am now playing two farms. One on my iPad and one my Mom's iPad (I use that farm for sugar & dairy products). I don't even think I will get the mine on hers until the end.

The bar orders take forever to fill so it's almost not even worth the vouchers you get. I would much rather save my coins for all the other machines and fill boat orders.

I bought the smelter 3 days ago and I've been making/selling things like crazy to open the mine. I've been saving TNT and other equipment too. It's getting a little tiresome. I probably need one more day in order to get the mine opened. So I'll see if I get any more responses in the next several hours then decide

Fix your dock. The mine is a waste.Jewelry is only good on truck orders and to sell. Takes forever to get it made.

PS Forget the candy machine. It's expensive and a chocolate bar takes 20 hours to make and sells for 460 coin. Jelly Beans take rasberry jam blackberry jam and 2wht sugars taking 24 hrs to make bringing in 684 coin. Just an example. I do leave my machine running all the time making chocolate because the confetti coming out is kind of entertaining.

HOLY ♥♥♥♥! That's good to know. My plans was that after I bought the Coffee Kiosk, I was going to make sure I saved up my coins for the candy machine and not decorate my farm.

But after reading that, I think after I get the Coffee Kiosk I will just concentrate on expanding Barn & Silo, stock piling items and decorating farm.

i'm at level 34 and i haven't opened the mine as yet. I find enough gold, platinum and silver ore in the DD and neighbour's shops to allow me to fill the truck orders for them. I have not unlocked the jewelry truck (?) as yet. And yes the bars in the smelter take forever!!! I say repair the dock too. And get the ice cream and juice machines before opening the mine.

Chiming in to agree that the dock should be a higher priority in most cases. It opens up a lot more options for achievements, interaction with your Neighbors, and as a profit center for money, XP, and vouchers.

If I had it to do over, I would not open the mine until I also had the cash to have a smelter at the ready. You don't get nearly the cash you would expect from jewelry sales!
