Controlling the rushed Town Hall trap

Surely everyone see this? Kids, or adults who don't think far ahead, with rushed TH bases, usually achieved by spending gems, controlling an account that they don't have the skill to use. The game is ruined for them, they can't hold their own. They hurt any clan who includes them, which is hard if they are friends or family. This is only really an issue after TH7. Upgrading prematurely once hurts. doing it twice is severe. Three times, (eg TH9 without even dragons) and your account is stuffed.

there are two simple things to prevent foolish premature TH upgrades:

1. Make the TH cost a whole lot more, maybe as much as max storage of gold, elixir and DE. (In the scheme of things, this cost is inconsequential). Currently, TH upgrading is cheaper than other upgrades individually, and collectively is much much cheaper.

2. Create a goblin single level base that must be defeated before allowing the Next TH upgrade. This will require the player to have some level of skill.


Neither change would prevent someone from rushing their TH if they know what they are doing.

If you have a brain and understand the game well enough, rushing can be very lucrative and have huge advantage in war. However the recent update does hurt some who have taken rushing to the biggest exstream like I did with my alt.

Getting rid of people taking advantage of next gen troops shouldn't change. This game would be very boring if everyone played the cookie cutter max way.

I totally agree with you reasons that rushing is a bad thing for a clan and can really mess things up, especially if a clan ended up with several rushed bases!

I'm not convinced that the solutions would solve the problem though.

1, I've got a feeling most rushed th are gemed so I don't think making it a cost issue would bother these kind of players they'd just by enough gems to do it.

2, could a goblin level actually encourage players to rush earlier? Supposing a young player upgrades their th then upgrades their drags, they then decide to look at the goblin level and 'give it a go' drags do the business so what do they think? I'm good enough to upgrade again.

Maybe something like a warning window when you go too upgrade would be helpful, stating once started there's no going back and it could cause game play issues?

Well, not that it would happen, but one way it could work is by increasing the cost of the next TH, based on how many structures/troops aren't maxd for current TH. For instance, it cost 2m to go from TH7 to TH8. A max wiz tower, lvl4 at TH7 costs 1.28m. If they upgrade while it's still lvl3, add 10% penalty fee to the cost of the TH. So 2m becomes 2.128m.Might not seem like a lot, but do that for every building, wall & troop, and lvl for each. So if they had a lvl2 wiz tower, your talking 10% of the cost to go from lvl2, to lvl3, to lvl4. So 2m + 128k + 72k for a total of 2.2m.While it won't entirely prevent them from rushing, it will make it quite a bit more expensive to rush.Again, this is just a way it could work, but I don't see it happening.

Note: There is no wish to prevent rushing offense over defense, but to work against the temptation for rushing ahead of skill.

I am afraid that you may be right on every point. Clueless gemmers will gem anyway, Upgrading for macho points might be encouraged by a goblin level test.

Yes, the warning could be bigger.

Why not allow TH degrades? Probably, as rushing one TH level is minor, a single degrade would not be enough. Actually I do know some players who have benefited from a complete reset. Maybe that is the best advice for someone who has seriously rushed above their skill level.
