Enhanced Unit Abilities: The Academy and Proving Grounds
Currently, Clash of Clans basic model is a linear upgrade system where, in most cases, a unit progresses to another level with increased Health, DPS, and Training Cost. In many cases this is fine; however, the advanced defenses faced in the late game have made certain units much less viable in the vast majority of situations. These units, and others, could benefit from enhanced abilities that would preserve their strategic use.
My suggestion is to add a building that will provide these ability upgrades. Possible names for this building are the Academy or the Proving Grounds. Right now I am focusing on the offense, but I have ideas for defense as well. Once upgraded, the user can choose to toggle on/off the ability. Why? Sometimes these upgrades will have a tradeoff. For example, at TH10 the player can upgrade War Hogs with shock armor. This would protect them from the amplified effect of Giant Bombs, but they would have reduced movement speed. It would be up to the player to decide if the trade is worth it.
I will be posting these ideas in separate threads and will put the links here, so that I can make this into one cohesive argument. I'm limited to 5 threads a day, so it will take a while to get it all out there.
