That's a misunderstanding of the issues.
Players find themselves holding back from helping farms because they've experienced "stalking" type shoppers or "raiding" as a consequence of giving help. These players are sad about this situation, not proud of it. These players are hoping for some sort of resolution by posting it here, be it good advice from friendly forumers, or Supercell's acknowledgement that the RSS access may be outmoded now that they've introduced towns, derbies, and neighbourhoods.
No one has complained that someone has helped them and bought their stuff. That would definitely be a strange complaint. :)
And players like Yella on the first page who are shopping as a thank you are likewise not a problem - in fact, that's a lovely example of the fun to be had when playing with the wider community. Strangers being nice to each other! Great part of the game. And it really helps to hear Yella's viewpoint because it means we can see such actions as thank yous and enjoy them.
The point really is that there are some points in the game that work more like loopholes rather than valued features, at least for some players, wherein I can sit in your RSS, uninvited, buying everything I see, maybe indefinitely, without ever helping you.
Thanks pitchfork, that takes something I think and expresses it better than I could... Balance is the key.
and ty godszogood, another who said it better than I and helped my thinking... Our experience changed as we levelled, what was a joy becomes for some an unhappiness, as the experience changes. Perhaps again the balance is key... Just thinking out loud, my early pleasure, like yours, was both having it sell and seeing familiar faces visit, and becoming regularly associated. The problem seemed - to me in thinking back in my own experience of it - to come about with scale, size, volume, as farm grew, which started interfering with that pleasure, then made it increasingly rare. Personally, for me, where I am (level 193 and 124 on boat board) a downsizing of visit possibilities to my farm by other farms in name of balance would be most welcome, to bring back that pleasure of social connection without drowning... Perhaps that is how some deal with it, by turning inward to focus mainly on neighbours?
Well here's another option and I know it's been suggested before.
If you want to put items in your shop just for your hoodies make an announcement in chat that you have filled your shop with unadvertised goodies. I'm sure whomever is online at the time will come running.
But to just place items in your shop and expect them to stay there until your hoodies and/or friends drop by isn't very logical in my opinion. Unless you never fill a boat, catch a fish during a fishing event, etc. Or help random strangers.
I Also don't think many people camp out at someone else's shop 24/7 because that's just not much fun. Dropping by again and again, I can see that.
I'm usually too busy farming to be spending much time at anyone else's farm
People who are sitting here and saying that it should be left that way and there is no problem are the ones who raid. I put up for my neighborhood items for base price sometimes. I don't appreciate people coming to my store and buying everything. Not one thing, or two. But everything. Who is the selfish one? So it is selfish for me not to put an ad up and share only with my Nh, but taking everything from the store is not selfish? Where is the logic? And how it is right when I help a person he gets to go on my farm and raid everything? I put ads in paper daily and often sell good stuff. Why am I punished for helping someone? I won't be helping anyone in paper. And it makes me sad. Because I loved to help others and appreciate when others help me.
Well that really ticked my feathers when I read that this morning! Well, I've never said I don't think that nothing should be changed, but furthermore, I don't think anyone else did either! AND I do not go and raid people's shops, and it's highly likely that no one else who commented in opposition to your original post does either! Thanks so much, unknown!
:rolleyes:thread closure imminent:rolleyes:
right? because we can't have differing points of view! that would not be 'nice.'XD
